Time this morning is coming up on 6:10 as we look live up towards
Midtown at this hour on a cool October morning here in Metro Atlanta.
58 is where we stand right now
with a westerly breeze at about 9 miles an hour.
I wouldn't call it cold. It's not cold. It's just a chill in the air.
But the skies are clear for the most part in most locations.
We do have some fog out there, but whatever is foggy right now, we'll
be clearing out into the afternoon with sunny skies on the way today.
So I want to draw your attention up in towards northwest Georgia,
Fannin, Gilmer, over towards Dade, Walker, Catoosa, Whitfield,
Murray, Gordon, parts of Floyd and Chattooga counties.
We're looking at some fog and that extends back in towards
the I-59 corridor in Alabama and up in towards the Chattanooga area.
Visibility also down to about five miles in Troup County this morning.
That's one of our cool spots.
LaGrange at 52, 59 in Noonan, 61 in Covington,
61 in Athens, 61 in Canton and 55 up in Calhoun.
So through the day today,
expecting sunny skies and into the night tonight, clear skies.
Then tomorrow, sunny skies.
We really don't have a lot to talk about
this week in terms of what's going on above us.
Aside from a big area of high pressure,
and that is going to prop some record-breaking or record-tying heat,
not only for us in Atlanta, but across a large part of the southeast.
And then we shut that down for the weekend.
Take a look up towards the north.
One of these Canadian cold fronts comes south.
No moisture with it.
So we're not looking at showers and thunderstorms,
but we are looking at our coolest air of the season
so far by the time we get to the weekend.
All right, let's talk tropics.
We had east eggs last week and then towards the weekend.
Nothing on the horizon for the United States.
There is one area of disturbed weather out near the Cabo Verde Islands.
That's Africa right behind me.
So it's the complete opposite side of the Atlantic.
It's got a 20 percent chance of development here over
the next two and seven days.
But I'm not highlighting anything close to the United States
for any more tropical development here for at least the next week.
Of course, hurricane season goes until November 30th,
so it is something that we will keep an eye on.
Here's your Fox 5 Storm Team 7-Day Forecast.
I did the forecast without looking at the records Tuesday,
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
And it just so happens that I forecasted to tie the record each day.
Now, if we get a degree warmer than any four
of those temperatures you see there, we, of course,
would break the daily high temperature record.
But it's worth noting on Friday, our record high of 85.
Again, that's what I'm forecasting.
We actually tied that last year in 2023.
So we were doing this type of heat the same time in October last year.
But then look at the weekend, 68 and 67,
Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
Justina?
All right.
The weekend looks like it's going to be a good one.
