Happy Monday. A wet start to the day and a wet start to the week here.
Welcome to Good Day LA. I'm Bob DeCastro. And I'm Jen Lommers.
Yeah, we have some coastal flood advisories
in effect for the next 24 hours, but let's get
to the professionals for more on that. Maria, good morning.
Good morning, Jen. Welcome back. Thank you.
There we go. Now my microphone is on.
I can give you a proper welcome back, Jen.
Bob, good morning. We have, yes, indeed, the wet start to our week.
And we did have a wet
and wild weekend, especially with the waves.
And it started on Friday. And it was going to
continue. We've got some scattered showers right now.
This is related to an area of low pressure
that has been forming up from the Gulf of Alaska.
It's sagging south. And then you can see where
most of the heavier downpours
are the heavier darker green colored areas we'll we'll pinpoint
exactly where some of those heavier cells are near
the south bay in just a few moments but right now
we're waking up to some chilly temperatures i definitely had
to grab my sweater walking out
the door this morning we're talking about 53
in pasadena 55 in san bernardino 50 in oxnard 42
and big bear to palm springs in the low 60s
this morning this is all part of that area of low
pressure bringing in that cooler air mass.
And that will bring us some instability today by way
of a chance for some thunderstorms.
So I'm not going to rule that out, but that shower chance
will continue throughout the high desert,
the mountains, the Coachella Valley today, just 74
degrees with that 20 to 30% chance for some moisture.
65 for downtown LA, well below average.
So this is a big swing from way hot temperatures earlier last week
to now well below normal. 67
for the Valleys and the Inland Empire to that 70 along our coast.
I'll go over all the weather alerts that are in place
and then let you know about the next warm-up
because there is another big warm-up
in store for us in just a few moments.
In the meantime, grab that umbrella.
Stu's up in Skybox watching our wet freeways down below.
Stu, good morning to you.
Hey, good morning, Maria.
Good morning, everybody.
Yeah, take a look at that 605.
We're making our way out to Irwindale.
Heard something about an overturned big rig.
Maybe it's been cleared.
Maybe we just don't see it as of yet.
So in the meantime, we'll talk about that 605 drive.
That 605 drive looking fantastic.
Headlights, that's coming away from the 210.
And you're staying a pretty good ride all
the way down to about Whittier.
Good spacing is what you're looking for.
The roadway as you're making your way south
this morning is definitely going to get wet.
The closer you get to Long Beach, we just left a big cell out there.
So just keep that in mind on that 605 drive.
Sending it back to you all in the studio.
Good morning.
Thank you, Stu.
Thanks, Stu. The storm has left its mark along our coasts,
and more dangerous conditions could be ahead.
Mario is live on the Long Beach Peninsula now.
Look at all the damage there. Good morning, Mario.
Yeah, that's right. We're along 64th place,
and I want to show you, as the waves are crashing here,
what they've been able to do over the weekend.
They put in these massive beams here.
They've screwed them in, and they are really in place.
And this is the scene here for a few blocks here,
down to 66th place here along Seaside Walk.
You can see the waves crashing, doing some more damage here.
This is an area that's already been hit pretty hard,
and you can see why some of the homes have been evacuated, boarded up.
Some of the fences here have been taken out, and the thick sand here
that these constant waves have brought onto this part of the peninsula.
So let's show you some video here, because crews have
been working around the clock to reinforce these sand berms.
The challenge is keeping them intact as these waves
and high tides continue to batter the shoreline.
And parts of the beach already badly eroded.
And firefighters have been using drones
to monitor homes that are cracking and shifting.
Some of them appear to be near collapsing.
Powerful waves from Tropical Storm Rachel battering the stretch
of coastline here, tearing apart sections of this historic boardwalk.
Some homes have been left exposed, damaged foundations,
debris scattered along the waterfront.
And now nine buildings in all, representing 13 addresses,
have been red-tagged, meaning they're too dangerous to enter.
Now, evacuation warnings and those mandatory orders,
they're expected to remain in place until at least noon tomorrow.
Dozens of residents remain under warnings
while some of the broader evacuation advisories were lifted yesterday.
Officials say flooding is still possible around high tide
and they're warning this may only be the beginning.
Take a listen.
This is the beginning.
And so we want people to make sure
that they're prepared and braced for what's to come.
And unfortunately, people are suffering
and people are experiencing catastrophic loss.
and that's not lost on us.
If your home or residence has been red tagged,
don't go in. Because if there is a collapse,
our first and foremost responsibility is to go do the
rescue. It puts everyone at risk. I know it's hard.
I know there's a lot of emotion behind
that. That is not lost on us.
And we don't take those decisions lightly. But please pay attention
to those warnings. And this is what we saw in Newport Beach on Friday.
Ocean water flooding
streets along the Balboa Peninsula, stranding vehicles,
threatening homes. That's why the city
declared a local emergency and as of this morning the Newport
and Balboa Piers, the Wedge and the
parking lot, the Balboa Pier parking lot
are all closed now back out here live you can see more of the
action here all those sandbags here
and again those wooden beams that were put into place this
weekend and the waves have really already
been crashing into the boardwalk here and again we
have high tide coming up at about 10:13 this morning
so just after 10 o'clock we've had a
residents here who are not under this evacuation zone,
make their way down, excuse me, sorry
about that, make their way down here to the area.
So we'll keep an eye on the coastline for now.
That's the latest here in Long Beach.
I'm Mario Ramirez.
We'll send it back to you.
I mean, it's completely changed the topography of that neighborhood.
You have to wonder, are neighbors there gonna ever feel safe again?
Because with more incoming storms,
are they just holding their breath with these new tides
that keep coming in and the shoreline just keeps getting eroded?
Yeah, there's one resident right out here. I didn't get his name.
He didn't want to talk to us, give us an interview.
But he said he's concerned about what's
forecasted over the next week or two.
He says what we're seeing now is,
like you heard that official say, just the beginning.
So as these residents here, dozens of residents
in this stretch here along the boardwalk have been evacuated,
You have to wonder how long it'll
be before they can actually feel safe, like you said,
in their homes that are now boarded up
and continuously being damaged with the surface.
We head into the winter storm season as conditions just keep building.
That's just this week and this season, to be honest.
Looking at years and years of this, how long are they going to keep up?
All right, Mario, thank you.
It's breaking news right now.
In the meantime, out of South L.A. this morning,
a huge fire broke out again in a vacant church.
Gigi Graciette has been live at the scene throughout the morning.
She has the very latest.
Gigi.
That's right.
And take a look at the building that has now been red-tagged
and most certainly was a beautiful building once upon a time.
You can still see a lot of smoke.
There's areas that are smoldering because the roof has collapsed.
Most of the interior has come down.
And what we're waiting for now,
L.A. City Fire is calling in their heavy equipment
because the building is so precarious
and in danger of further collapse.
They're going to start knocking parts of it down,
not a full tear down cuz that's not
what they do.
But they are gonna knock down some of the parts
that are in danger of collapsing and
could trigger yet another fire,
could damage somebody that's walking by.
This is a residential neighborhood,
very densely packed, a lot of folks on the street.
So that's what's happening now.
Let me show you though what was happening at 3:30 this morning.
That's when the first 911 calls started coming
in of an abandoned church on fire on the corner
of 27th and Paloma here in historic South Central.
When firefighters arrived, the building
was absolutely raging.
And because it's such a densely packed area, again, houses are built
up right next to each other.
There was a threat to all the surrounding buildings,
so extra firefighters were called
in for a total of about 180.
This is people rushed to get out with their pets, their belongings.
also making sure that folks
were evacuated just in case the fire spread.
One woman was injured,
we believe she suffered from smoke inhalation, she was treated here.
And it turns out that this building is no stranger to firefighters
because this abandoned
church is the scene of at least two previous fires,
according to the fire department and
neighbors who say they've called the city multiple times
because people continue to
break in and set up encampments inside.
And where there are encampments that are often warming fires,
those fires get out of control.
And this is what happens
and arson investigators are looking into the cause of this fire.
But we did speak to Battalion Chief Cody Wire-Eater
this morning about the previous fires that
have happened here,
one that seriously injured several LA City firefighters.
I can't believe it's 2014. We did have a previous fire here.
It happened so I was actually here as
well. We did have firefighters
that were trapped inside after a roof collapsed inside. But
fortunately, all those firefighters were able
to be extracted out safely and all returned back to
duty. But at this point, it was more
of a defensive fire for this fire tonight.
How frustrating is it to have had firefighters injured
and then have more burns? Neighbors
saying this is a nuisance property
that people are continuously breaking in and
living inside that shouldn't be in there.
That's a difficult question to answer
because the fact that it is frustrating
anytime one of our members does get injured.
But like I was mentioning, that's a forethought down the road.
Our biggest concern obviously is protecting the exposures nearby those
homes and ensuring
that we don't have anybody actually inside or trapped.
And thankfully, no one else was injured just
that lady who suffered from
smoke inhalation and the buildings surrounding
this property were saved.
Some of them have smoke damage, heavy smoke that smell inside.
A lot of folks still standing outside of their homes,
but take a look at what once was, once
upon a time, a church now turned into absolutely nothing,
LA City Fire again calling in their
heavy equipment.
We spoke to neighbors on camera and off camera,
and they told us the same story.
They've reached out to the city multiple times about
this property they consider dangerous.
Again, there had been two previous fires here.
They didn't want to see a third and we're seeing one this morning.
They say the city sent some representatives out
but never did anything about it to secure
the property.
Now it's red tagged and now most of it will
be torn down by the city fire department because
it is in danger of collapse.
And that is the latest from Historic South Central.
I'm Gigi Gracia, I'll send it back to you.
All right, Gigi, thank you.
Breaking this morning, federal agents searched the Washington area home
of Minnesota Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar this morning.
The Justice Department says Homeland Security investigations
agents executed a court-authorized search warrant.
This is all part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation.
So you're looking live right now from the D.C. area where
we've seen DHS agents on the street outside of the home.
Officials have not released any details about the case,
and it's unclear whether Omar is a target of this investigation.
Although Vice President J.D. Vance has previously signaled
that the Trump administration could investigate
her for alleged immigration fraud, which she has denied.
There is a new escalation of tension between Washington and Kyiv.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky
is criticizing President Trump's diesel deal with Russia,
and Trump is calling for a new president of Ukraine.
We have Alex Hogan joining us live now
from Washington to break this all down for us.
Good morning.
Good morning, Jen and Bob.
So President Trump announced what he is calling
an energy ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine.
Moscow today claims that there is contact about this,
although Kyiv says that it is
still waiting on details from Washington
and argues that Russia is unwilling to accept
a ceasefire given
that Russia hit six Ukrainian energy facilities today.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says
Kyiv would support an energy ceasefire if
Moscow does the same.
We are ready for a ceasefire.
We are ready to begin from any kind of steps of de-escalation.
As Russia targets Ukraine's power grid,
Ukraine has hit Russia's refineries.
President Trump this weekend accusing Kyiv of driving up fuel prices.
We told them, do whatever you want,
but don't hit the diesel fuel, cuz there's a big problem,
a big shortage.
Pointed words follow President Trump's new deal with Moscow, allowing
Russian diesel exports, a reversal from years of U.S. pressure.
The president says the move could help lower fuel costs,
but even some Republicans are pushing back.
This agreement with purchasing Russian oil is essentially,
I think, tarnishing Lindsey Graham's efforts to try
and get those sanctions bill through.
Zelensky also pushing back on Trump's calls
for new leadership in Ukraine,
saying that's exactly what Russian President Vladimir Putin would want,
although holding an election at a time
of war under Ukrainian law is unconstitutional.
And as Washington weighs its next move on Russia,
another crisis is testing the president.
So there are questions over how Washington will respond
to the latest attack at the
airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia after
this attack by Iranian-backed Houthis.
At least a dozen people were killed,
including an American, and President Trump this weekend
says the US might consider joining the fight.
We also heard from the US Secretary of State,
Marco Rubio, condemning this latest attack.
Back to you.
All right, Alex Hogan live for us in Washington.
Alex, thank you so much.
Thank you.
714 is your time.
We'll have more news after the break.
Welcome back.
We've got a little wildlife awe moment for you this morning.
have found three adorable mountain lion kittens tucked away
in the Simi Hills near the 101.
Look at this. National Park Service biologists say
the blue eyed kitties are about three
weeks old. Look how beautiful.
They were discovered in a den after scientists tracked signals
from their mom. A mountain lion known as P 113.
The one boy and two girls are absolutely
adorable now, but they're
also a big deal for our local wildlife. So experts say they
They could eventually help save our local cougar population once
the new 101 freeway wildlife crossing opens.
It's heartwarming to see that they're breeding, right?
Those eyes and those claws.
Yeah, yeah.
So gorgeous.
We just wish them the best.
From our local wildlife kittens to some feathered friends across
the country who found a unique way to weather a hurricane.
So check out the unusual storm shelter.
This is a restroom.
ZooWorld in Panama City Beach shared video
of their flamingos huddled inside one of the
facility's public bathrooms as Hurricane Isaias moved through.
Zoo officials say the birds need space
and water to stay calm during severe weather so
the floor was perfect, this tile floor.
Other animals got special treatment too,
a zookeeper is working to make sure every animal
had what it needed to stay safe this worked all
the animals weathered the storm and now staff are
cleaning up i bet there's a lot of cleanup
to do right getting the zoo ready for visitors i mean
is that it's a public restroom
so yeah i i can well the first thing i think about is the smell
right right all those birds
and such a tight cramped space right you gotta go you gotta go
that's right you know as they say it is the restroom
so i wonder if they use their feet
to flush the toilet.
Jen, you need to go and, you know, check.
I did that for the first time today, by the way.
You did?
I did.
You know what?
Only because I know that people around here
are flushing the toilet with their feet, so
I'm going to do the same thing.
And look.
You got to do that elsewhere.
It's like herd mentality, right?
Yeah, in this case, it's really good.
It's good to do that, follow along with that trend.
But I can hear it a little tiny, tiny bit in your voice.
A little bit, a little bit of a, yeah.
So I want you to pace yourself, okay?
I'm trying.
I'm going to not get all riled up.
The rest of the week.
All right.
Bobby, you behave.
Don't get her riled up.
So far, I've been on my best behavior.
Okay, very good.
Very good.
Well, listen, we had some impressive rain totals up until this morning.
Really, we got Yucaipa here with over two and a half inches of rain.
It's been forecast last week about the range
of rain totals through the weekend.
Mount Baldy, over two inches.
Anaheim Hills, a little over an inch.
Claremont, about a half an inch.
Long Beach a little less a little over a quarter of an inch of rain
so uh good thing in Long Beach
because we did have the what the Long Beach Marathon uh
this weekend and so it went off
pretty good with just some light light showers
we have some scattered showers right now in our
satellite radar pictures you can see as we zoom
in some of the heavier cells here right now across
Running Springs also got some impressive rain totals here up
into the mountains Crestline big
Bear Lake, also seeing a mix of freezing rain
and some snow up at the high, high elevation.
And then we've got some showers here in Long Beach,
Los Alamitos, Huntington Beach, some
light rain.
Irvine's got a little bit of shower activity there.
And here out towards Oxnard, a little quieter at this hour,
but off of Camarillo, off of
the 118, we've got some showers heading into parts of Moorpark.
So just be careful.
Your windshield wipers will go off.
Just slow it down on the roads.
It is actually a holiday for a lot
of kids for Indigenous Peoples Day today.
So please be extra careful out there on the roadways.
We still have another day or two, a day and a half or so of the coastal
flood advisory that stays in effect through tomorrow.
We have a combination of a high tide again,
especially in the morning, getting up to 7.3 to even 7.5 feet.
Coastal flooding, beach erosion still in those vulnerable areas
with the high surf coming in at 3 to 5 plus, occasionally 7 foot sets.
So we still have that high surf advisory in effect.
This is all related to not just rainfall
that has really passed off to our northeast now,
kind of mingling with this area of low pressure
and the moisture associated with it.
But we're getting these swells generated
by storms down in the southern hemisphere.
So this is going to be the pattern with the big waves,
and then it kind of wanes a little bit,
and we'll get another round of swells related
to those storms down to well to our south,
thousands of miles away generating these swells.
68 today in Bakersfield, 69 in Inglewood,
76 in Indio, 78 in Lake Havasu City.
Here's our temperature trend.
We talked about that warm-up, 64 today in Ontario.
My goodness, that's a sweater weather, right?
And then look at this, 89, 90 degrees
by the time we get to the end of the week
and this upcoming weekend with some strong winds out of the northeast.
Let's go back up to Stu in SkyFox, get a look at the view from above.
And I see some raindrops.
You got a windshield wiper up there, Stu?
You know, Maria, we don't.
We have no windshield wipers at all.
But you know what?
SkyFox is cool like that.
Let's talk about a little bit of traffic.
Skyfox traffic brought to us by My Home Sold.
Take a look at that five northbound Elysian Park is where we are.
Let's get some drive time, shall we?
From Elysian Park northbound on that five to the 134.
It's going to take you about six minutes.
And if you're going out to the 118,
apparently you're going to be there in 20 minutes.
That's a pretty long drive and not a lot of time to get there.
So that means it's a pretty good drive indeed.
Keep that in mind.
Wet roads.
Let's keep those speeds in check.
Let's stay safe, everybody.
Southbound, that was southbound 5 through the Los Feliz area.
Looking fantastic.
From the 134 out to the 110 and actually a little bit beyond.
Let's take a look at some traffic hotspots.

go to myhomesold.com welcome back there's a new book
for grown-ups about a wildly popular show
for kids there aren't many
shows more adorable than
Bluey but it's filled
with amazing life
lessons for parents as well that's the focus
of an upcoming book called The Bluey Years on
parenthood childhood and the best kids show ever
the author examines how the relatable storylines
help kids and parents explore emotional regulation
in a way that feels natural and affirming.
Bluey's characters model healthy ways of handling stress
and big time emotions, showing it's
okay to take breaks and ask for help.
The show never pretends there is no struggle to,
in fact, they've tackled grown up issues
like infertility, death, parental stress.
As the author says, it's powerful to have
a show that does not feel like it's lying
to you about the world.
One of those very few children's shows
that I would watch without my son around.
Louis is fantastic.
It's a beautiful program.
Sometimes you just got to move on.
Sometimes you do.
Don't say that.
Check.
Check.
Sometimes you just got to go to break.
Check.
All right.
Welcome back to Good Day LA.
It is 7.32 on this Monday.
October the 12th.
Thanks for being with us.
And yeah, we had quite the weekend there with this weather.
Yeah, we did.
It finally felt like fall yesterday.
Yeah.
But even on Saturday, it was hot, it was humid.
I don't know if you guys were out and about,
but even at night on Saturday, it was just, it was sticky.
Yes, we did.
We did.
We had it all this past weekend.
It is going to be kind of chilly today.
So I got my jacket on.
Grab that sweater if you're just heading out this morning.
It is kind of chilly.
Temperatures are going to stay on the cooler side today, below average.
But hold on, because it is going to get hot again as we move
into the latter part of this week, into the weekend.
We're talking about well above average high temperatures once again.
So cool and scattered showers today,
occasionally moderate in the heaviness of that rain activity.
Otherwise, we still have some of these waves rolling in,
coastal flood advisory, high surf still continuing through tomorrow.
So if you live in and around the shoreline,
you know what I'm talking about.
Developing gusty Santa Ana winds, though,
with the windy conditions Thursday, Friday particularly,
that's going to produce some very hot, dry conditions,
especially as we get into Wednesday and this upcoming weekend.
So that will increase our fire danger a bit.
So it's good.
We got a little bit of moisture
and shower activity here this weekend and today.
73 degrees was that high yesterday.
So we finally broke that long streak of 10 days in a row this month
so far above average highs.
Well, today will be 70s.
We're going to swing it right back up, though,
back up to near 90 as we get towards the end of the week.
So, yeah, it's good.
We got some rain, even downtown L.A., finally some measurable rain,
three one hundredth of an inch yesterday.
We'll get up to around 65 today.
So that is well below the average of 79.
Our sunset time later this evening at 622.
and as we look at our forecast highs today only in the 60s
so this is what i mean grab that
sweatshirt you'll need it out in Ontario just 64
for that high temperature maybe even some showers
51 in Fraser Park 65 for downtown LA there's
an isolated chance we could get some thunderstorms
especially with the colder air that's moving
in so just be prepared for that possibility 67 in
Santa Monica 68 Long Beach to that 46 in Big Bear where
the tip tops of the mountains getting a
bit of a snow flurry i'll show you the 7-day forecast plus your pictures
and today's TV shout outs
in just a few moments back to you oh back
to you Stu hey good morning Maria good morning
everybody Skybox Traffic's brought to us
by Jacobian Myers Injury Lawyers taking a look at
that drive down there that's gonna
be the five drive headlights southbound and you know what
definitely gonna fall under holiday light indeed
moving along very very well you can see it right
there northbound looking good as well
that five drive actually today bump you know what it's
Indigenous People's Day so a lot of folks not on the road
and that ride looking fantastic let's
take a look some traffic hot spots oh we're sending it back
to me i'll take it thank you
Stu so a very direct approach
to school fundraising is going viral check this out
A Michigan man posted a photo of a fundraising form brought home
by his middle school daughter
It includes suggested donation amounts with messages like,
I do not want to bake.
So here's the money I would have spent on those cupcakes.
And I do not want to walk,
swim or run in any activity that has the word thon in it.
Here's the money I would have spent on my child's free T-shirt.
He says not having to buy chocolate,
wrapping paper or free T-shirts is quote huge progress.
Do you feel like it's kind of like gaslighting parents though,
like are just shaming parents
for not giving more money?
I think there's a lot of shaming parents all the time, every day.
You're not giving enough.
Every day of our lives.
We're not gonna bake the cookies,
so you might as well just fork over some money.
It is a, sorry, and I know the schools
are struggling right now, but for a parent and
for a lot of people who are themselves struggling,
I do feel like you're always, someone's always
got their hand out.
Right.
And they're always constantly asking these parents for money.
Right.
Times are tough for everybody.
Yeah, for sure.
Amanda's off today.
We've got you covered in the entertainment department.
Entertainment is sponsored by Yamaha Resort and Casino.
Okay, so a new romantic drama called Love
of Your Life arrives on Prime this week.
And Ashley Dvorkin talked
to the stars Margaret Qualley and Aaron Pierre.
What's the love of your life?
I used to say you can only have one.
In the romantic drama Love of Your Life, Margaret Qualley plays Maya,
A young woman who leaves everything behind after a devastating loss.
It explores love in, you know, the romantic way.
And then it explores love in this kind of bigger, more profound
understanding of self-acceptance and learning to love your life.
I can't.
What do you mean?
Co-star Aaron Pierre plays Felix,
a man who enters Maya's life as she tries to start over.
In equal measure, they provide a healing space for one another.
Of course, they have obstacles, they have hurdles within
their dynamic over the period of time that they're together.
But I think they provide that space to heal
and sort of take forward steps.
Romance is just one part of Maya's story.
The idea of platonic love and how important it is to have
the friends that kind of hold us up, or familial love.
The stars share their thoughts
on finding more than one great love in a lifetime.
I do feel like I have many soulmates.
Like even, I feel like I have friends that are soulmates.
My sister's my soulmate.
There's no rules per se.
You know, I think you could meet someone and fall in love and,
you know, maybe it doesn't work out.
And for whatever reason, and that's not to say it can't happen again.
I think it's just about keeping your heart open
and open to the possibility.
Or if we'd acknowledge that there actually is something here.
Love of your life arrives on Prime Video Wednesday,
in Hollywood, Ashley DeBorkin, Fox
News.
You think Bob, you think that there could
be multiple loves of your life?
Sure, I think people could fall
in love more than once, don't you think?
Why'd your voice get to that pitch?
I've never heard your voice go up like that,
sure, sure, sure, of course, it can happen.
A couple of good looking people there, I'll tell you that.
That's for sure.
This story is ridiculous.
It's everywhere now.
It's everywhere and it's ridiculous.
Kelly Clarkson just wanted a $15,000 singing bird
and ignited a social media showdown over
claims she was pretty womaned at a novelty toy store in Brooklyn.
So over the weekend, here's what happened.
Clarkson took to social media to claim
that a salesperson at the Art of Play treated her
like she couldn't afford to shop there.
The store responded saying that she had
her eye on a one of a kind singing and dancing
bird automation named Molly,
that's permanently attached to the wall and is not for sale.
Well, she and the store went back
and forth all day long yesterday with Clarkson posting
proof that the bird was in fact for sale,
which led to the store clarifying that no,
it wasn't that exact bird, it was a replica of the bird for sale.
The birds twin, but the store's bird was not for sale.
Well, this morning,
both sides are just digging in their heels and standing their ground.
That bird is $15,000?
That bird that you're looking at right there is $15,000.
And Art of Play is saying it hopes
to clear the air with her at some point.
Well, we should have had their response.
Because they said, we're going to keep our head down.
And they felt like-
Their first response was-
She has a lot of fans, right?
Millions and millions and millions.
And they went after the Art of Play.
They were like, imagine us.
Little Old Us, Art of Play Us, going online one day
and seeing 8 million people leaving nasty comments on our page.
And then they said, as one very talented songwriter once said,
what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
And they said they were going
to keep their head down through all of this.
And they thanked support from their fans and the customers.
I mean, this just keeps on going.
I want to see how far this can go.
I think that both of them should just stand down right now.
Bluey once said, sometimes it's time to move forward.
Where's the winner in all of this?
Where's the winner in all of this?
And one employee doing something can take down a whole business.
Maybe that employee was just having a bad day.
This is what I tell my son, if anybody's ever nasty to you,
maybe that person is just having
a bad day, okay?
Maybe that person, whoever was handling Kelly Clarkson,
who by the way, is a doll, I've
I've interviewed her multiple times,
both at the beginning of her career and after she
got mega famous.
There is no ego there with her.
I've interviewed her once too, the nicest person.
Which I think is the reason why all of her very,
very loyal fans were like, there's no
way she was lying here, right?
And you and I are also both well-versed in all things Brooklyn.
And we know how it can be.
Can get, I'm not saying that happened, but we know it can happen.
But it is a small business,
it's their own private business and okay, something happened.
And then you have this megaphone, you have this huge platform.
Right, right, big mistake, huge social- Huge,
and that leads us to our poll question
of the day.
This is a good one, okay.
How do you handle bad customer service?
Do you match their attitude?
Do you, I'm gonna call your manager, get the manager on the line.
Do you blast them online?
Do you yelp?
Do you shame publicly, do you go on X,
do you go on Instagram to vent your frustrations,
or do you simply take your money elsewhere?
Go to foxla.com slash vote.
Also leave us a comment,
maybe talk about your own experience and how you handled it.
I don't think Kelly wants to take down this
whole business though, you know what I mean?
I don't think that was her mission.
I know, but she will.
I think she was just upset.
Cuz her fans are just so loyal.
This could be either the worst thing
or the best thing that's ever happened to Art of Play.
Because I'll tell you what, I never even knew they existed.
But now you know a bunch of people in the neighborhood are going
to come call into Art of Play to see what they're all about.
It's a cool bird, I will say.
I might be interested, but not for $15,000.
$15,000.
All right, Stu.
Over to you.
Hey, good morning, everybody.
Why does the caged bird sing?
Someday we'll find out.
This traffic, this one, is brought to us by Jacoby and Myers.
Injury lawyers.
Taking a look at that 134 drive through the Burbank area.
Actually looking fantastic.
Definitely going to be Monday light because of the holiday.
So keep that in mind.
And if you're hitting some of those wet
roads, just keep an eye on those speeds.
We don't want to see anybody having any problems
on their way to wherever they need to be.
Traffic hotspots, let's check those out.
In an accident, Jacoby and Myers will fight
for the justice you deserve.
And if we don't win, you won't pay a penny.
We have earned the trust of tens of thousands of clients.
Jacoby and Myers, because everyone deserves justice.
Let's talk Dodgers, shall we?
Our boys in blue chasing a third straight World Series title,
but the Milwaukee Brewers are not going to make it easy.
So they beat L.A., if you haven't heard, last night.
This was game one of the National League Championship Series.
The Dodgers scored first.
Milwaukee tied it up in the fourth with a home run.
The Brewers scored again in the fifth, and that's all they would need.
2-1 was the final score.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto will take the mound this afternoon for game two.
You can see it right here on Fox 11, followed by Sports Wrap.
So listen, should Dodger fans be worried today?
Let's get the expert opinion on this from Arash Brokazi,
founder and CEO of the Sporting Tribune.
Thank you for being here this morning.
Thanks for having me.
I mean, it's game one, okay?
It's game one.
Listen, and it's going to be a long, very good series.
And, again, I think a lot of Dodger fans got spoiled last year.
This was a rematch of last year's championship series,
and the Dodgers swept them.
This is a very good Brewers team.
The reason that game one was in Milwaukee
is they have home field advantage.
They won 104 games.
They were a better team than the Dodgers this year.
But the Dodgers are going for the three-peat.
This is going to be a great series.
So I'm not nervous today.
If Mr. October on the mound, Yoshinobu Yamamoto loses tonight,
Bob, then it's a different story.
But I think it's a good series.
I think the Dodgers come back home for game three, tied 1-1.
So let's get into Yoshinobu Yamamoto
because he was really great in the NLDS too, right?
And obviously MVP last year.
So here we go.
At least we have someone on the mound tonight that,
you know, we really need this win here
to even it up before they take it back to Dodger Stadium.
He loves these moments.
And this is what you want from a pitcher like this.
Like when he came over from Japan, there was this feeling
of why are you giving him this big contract?
He's never played in the major leagues before.
Last year in the World Series, he did
things that we've never seen before.
So in October, something happens with him.
And my favorite stat with Yoshinobu Yamamoto
for you guys to watch tonight,
when the Dodgers score at least three runs, Yoshinobu Yamamoto 34-0.
If you give him some runs for it.
So that was the thing that happened last night with Tarik Skubal.
You're not going to win a lot of series when you score only one run.
So if the Dodgers score three runs tonight, the Dodgers win the game.
So we know, I mean, we know the Dodgers are deep,
but how crucial is it for their star
player for Shohei to play like his old self here?
This is the most frustrating thing
because this has been happening for quite some
time.
Yeah.
And I think we're at a point where you're just hoping for the best.
You cannot bench him, you go on social media.
He is still, when he's right and he's not right,
he's the best player in the world.
So Dave Roberts is trying things,
he's batting him fourth, he's batting him fifth, maybe
he'll move him up.
He's just not himself.
And quite frankly, if the Dodgers do not three-peat,
and you don't want to put it on one player,
the reason that they've had success,
the reason they are back-to-back champions, a big part
of that is Shohei Ohtani.
So if he's not himself, this is going to be a hard series.
And by the way, this is why my prediction was Dodgers in seven.
This is going to be a long series.
So here they are.
The Dodgers have the star power here.
They have the star power here.
But you look at a team like Milwaukee, and they've got great defense.
So that's what it is.
You're saying that the Dodgers really need to score.
They need to get those bats hotter, right,
and need at least three coming into this game
when you've got a defense like Milwaukee has.
You've got some hurdles there.
And not only that, sometimes they say
you've got to lose before you can win.
And I think that experience that these guys went through a year ago,
not only losing to the Dodgers, being swept by them,
they're not afraid of this team.
They're coming back with a vengeance right now.
This is not a fluke.
It is a little bit of a Cinderella story.
But they've won their division four years in a row.
They've finished with the best record in baseball back-to-back years.
This would not be shocking, by the way.
And I know folks in Los Angeles don't want to hear this.
It wouldn't be shocking if Milwaukee won.
But again, the Dodgers do have to figure out a way to score some runs.
And it's not just Shohei, Will Smith has struggled.
A lot of bats are struggling with the Dodgers.
You've got to score runs.
So, okay, if the Dodgers do make it past the Brewers in this series,
who would be the tougher opponent?
Would it be the, right, the Rays or the Guardians?
Tampa Bay.
I mean, the Cleveland story is amazing.
You got the haves and haves now.
We're going to have a little bit of a work stoppage.
And the reason I say that is just like that's just a fact.
Hopefully it doesn't bleed into the season.
But you got the highest payroll in baseball with the Dodgers
and the lowest payroll in the Cleveland Guardians.
So this idea that we need a cap, I get it.
But it's not preventing Cleveland from being four wins away.
But Tampa Bay was a top three, top four team all year.
So if it's Tampa, Los Angeles, obviously the Dodgers are the favorite.
But the big thing is, people are saying this is the real World Series.
Whoever wins this series is going to win the World Series.
So we'll do it one game at a time.
How critical is it that, what would history tell us that the Dodgers
need to win tonight before taking a back here for this series?
I'm not going out on a limb, but when you go down 0-2,
it is significantly hard to lose.
I will say this, go back to the last two postseasons.
The Dodgers have found themselves in a position,
go back to the World Series a year ago.
That's right, I know.
They had to win two straight.
That's right.
Go back to the DS of the year before that.
They know how to make us sweat.
They are in a position where they not only have to win two straight,
but one of them on the road.
It's sort of the moxie of being the back-to-back.
You've been there before.
So I'm not worried down 1-0, but, Bob, like, if they're down 2-0,
and now you've got to win, what, four of five games?
Like, that's tough.
That's going to be rough.
But they've been there before.
Yeah.
That's not to say it can't happen again, right?
Exactly.
Yeah.
But, again, you have your best pitcher.
This is Yoshinobu Yamamoto's moment.
Right now, we sit here right now, I am fine.
This is how I predicted it.
They go down 0-2 and Yoshi loses.
Now I'm very nervous.
What's your prediction for tonight?
Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound.
The Dodgers win 3-2.
They got to get those three runs, though.
They got to get those three runs.
You're a lip to the sports gods here.
Thank you, Arash.
Thank you.
Always good to see you.
The Sporting Tribune, Arash Markazi.
Check out his stuff.
Always great stuff.
Once again, you can see today's game right here on Fox 11,
followed by sports rap.
All right, Maria, over to you.
Yeah, let's go to Milwaukee right now.
Speaking of the Dodgers game,
looking at some nice weather here.
This is the American family field,
of course, that important game tonight.
So hopefully three to two,
you're right with the Dodgers
bringing it and bringing it home
here on Wednesday with another win.
Good day, LA.
Weather is brought to you by My Home Sold.
We've got some showers getting ready
to move up into the way upper Midwest.
Here in Minneapolis, it would be 81 degrees today.
81 in Detroit, looking at some cooler weather
here in Bismarck, North Dakota, 46.
We've got some showers, all related to what's left over
of Rachel, kind of combining with this area of low pressure
that is moving and bringing some showers
across parts of the Rockies.
Billings, 41 degrees.
That's it for the high temperature, 63 in Seattle.
And then down here across SoCal,
we do have some below average highs as well.
Because of the colder air that's moved in related to this area of low
pressure, remnant moisture from Rachel getting caught up in that flow.
But we are anticipating some big changes.
We have some scattered showers again today.
But as that low kind of moves off to the east and northeast,
bringing some snow into the Sierra Nevada, great news.
We're going to see a developing northeasterly wind.
So by Wednesday, we're going to start to feel those Santa Ana winds.
Cool at first, but it will help to warm us up.
Thursday, Friday, really hot temperatures,
windy conditions out of the northeast.
That's going to dry things out, but also going to warm us way back up.
So another big swing in our temperatures as we go
from below average highs today to well above average
as we get to the end of the week and this upcoming weekend,
back up to near 90 degrees.
Newport Beach, you do have some showers here expected today
into tomorrow, 50% chance to 30% chance.
Some of our beach cities like Long Beach
also getting some sprinkles out there.
Big Bear Lake, I've got another day here
for you with some showers, 70% chance.
Maybe even a little dusting of snow way up above 8,000, 9,000 feet.
We'll see.
We love seeing that.
And then it should stay dry for the rest of the week.
We have a coastal flood advisory that's still in effect,
a beach hazard statement, and a high surf.
We still have those surf heights coming
in near 3 to 5 plus, maybe 7 foot sets.
That combined with the high tide coming
in this morning of more than 7.1 to even 7.5 feet.
that's going to cause more beach erosion and problems along the coast.
So you just want to keep that in mind,
especially those homeowners already
with those homes very vulnerable to these big waves.
70 degrees along the coast.
We've got another day of some shower chances
and then maybe some lingering 30% chance
for showers early tomorrow morning,
but then drying out.
Look at how we get to 86 degrees by Friday.
We're going to stay in the 80s, low 80s this weekend,
but plenty of sunshine with that offshore flow.
65 for downtown L.A., Orange County, scattered showers.
much drier tomorrow look at how we ramp it up to 86
on thursday 90 degrees on friday upper 80s to
near 90 for the remainder of next weekend 67
for the valleys inland empire right back up to 85 on
wednesday to 93 as we get to this weekend
so that's that swing in temperatures i was talking
about 46 scattered rain still up
into the mountains maybe even some snow uh getting up to the low 60s
on thursday still beautiful with sunshine up
the mountains high desert 64 degrees those windy
conditions, especially below the clouds
and Pasadena Mountains and deserts as we get to
Friday and Thursday, Friday,
Saturday. 74 in the low desert in the
Coachella Valley. Look how it jumps up to near 90
by Thursday. Perfect, actually,
in Palm Springs. All right, let's do some TV
