AI GeneratedThe Buffalo Bills secured a thrilling overtime victory against the Los Angeles Rams, led by a dominant performance from Josh Allen. Beyond this game, the analysis covers the Rams' special teams crisis, the Dodgers' struggles in the NLCS, Shohei Ohtani's health concerns, and various coaching and roster updates across the NFL and NBA.
Tyler Bass, kick your ass.
45 yards, are you kidding me?
Bang, bang, bang.
That was awesome.
Absolutely incredible.
Haley Steinfeld loved it.
Bills fans loved it.
And for Josh Allen to act like Superman in that kind of spot,
just incredible.
Just keep playing,
right?
We watch all these videos on the situations, right?
Until the clock hits zero, the game ain't over, man.
We just keep putting the ball down.
I'm so proud of this group, man.
I'm so proud of this group.
Here's the thing.
We said we were coming out the West for a reason, man.
We were going to grow as a football team,
and we were going to win both games.
Here's the thing.
We couldn't get both of them if we didn't get the first one, man.
How great is that if you're a fan of the Buffalo Bills?
How great was that last night if you're a fan of sports?
Sporty sports, sports, sports.
Sports.
You got to love sports.
The Shine Time, Adam Shine, preseason Super Bowl.
We picked Bill's Rams on Valentine's Day.
This game lived up to the hype.
There's a reason why we had Joe Buck
on shine time leading up to this game.
Because we knew it was going to be a banger.
We knew it was going to be the game of the year.
And my goodness, it
was the best Monday night football game I've seen in a long time.
The best football game we've seen, 2026.
How about the fact that we had touchdown,
touchdown, touchdown, touchdown, touchdown.
Literally, touchdowns galore.
When you look at Josh Allen hitting Keon Coleman,
and then every single drive was a touchdown
up until the end of regulation
when Matthew Stafford led the Rams down the field,
Kyron Williams punching in to force overtime.
That was absolutely, positively the game of the year.
And how about how Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills won?
The best football player in the NFL doing out-of-this-world things.
Josh Allen is a freak.
Josh Allen is unbelievable.
Josh Allen, fourth quarter and overtime last night.
5 of 5, 112 passing yards, 91 rushing yards, and a rushing touchdown.
And this is important here, because look,
it's accurate, it's on the screen.
this was the first time he ever won a ball game in overtime
and for those click seeking fools
on social media and people
who like to rip Josh Allen they point to oh Josh in overtime never won
before I mean like the 13 second game against Kansas City was his fault
but I digress but when
you watch him and I just gave you the nuggets of evidence here
and you watched him last night and
you saw him in the fourth quarter in overtime.
I mean, the guy is unbelievable. The best football
player in the NFL doing best football player
in the NFL kind of things last night. His game,
his moment, his time to shine. He was Paul Bunyan.
He was Mozart. He was Picasso. He was
Beethoven. He was John Elway. He was a freak.
He was an alien. He was Superman. All rolled into
one that's who he is that's what he does
and i think it's important here we reference his
overtime record which again is just you know low-hanging fruits
for the losers who'd like to
get on Josh Allen listen he understood it talked
to Laura Rutledge on ESPN about it after he
understands the deal and it was all shaping up
to be if you're watching the game objectively
you know one of those oh i can't believe
that the Bills are going to somehow lose this and
Josh Allen deserved better.
So in overtime, after all these touchdowns,
and Stafford, and Allen, and Allen, and Stafford,
you see Josh Allen with the ball.
He hits Khalil Shakir.
And bam, he's off the need for speed.
He's going to the end zone.
And then you see Cam Kitchens from behind.
He's able to take him down by his shoelace.
And listen, I have trouble walking and chewing gum
at the same time.
So, you know, I'm wearing makeup as we speak.
I'm a Bills fan.
And I'm wondering, how the hell did Shakir
not stay on two feet in that moment?
I mean, I think it's a fair criticism.
But it's like, all right, it's fine.
You know, Bills are still going to be able to win.
And James Cook fumbles on the next play.
You can't make that up.
James Cook has to protect the ball.
So the Rams take over, drive down the field.
And we'll get into this from a Rams perspective in a second.
The field goal is blocked brilliantly by Greg Rousseau,
who honestly right now would be my vote
for defensive player of the year.
That was unbelievable.
But this all brilliantly goes back full circle to Josh Allen.
And ESPN brilliantly had a shot of Allen as the field goal is blocked.
I mean, he is locked in.
He didn't smile.
He didn't emote.
He looked like he was just ready to pounce,
grabbed his helmet and goes to work.
And it was kind of the, we'll do it live, damn it, moment.
Josh Allen, we'll do it myself.
I mean, just started running the ball,
got down the field, into field goal range.
Joe Brady, by the way, did not mess around in terms of the timing
when you take a look at it.
This is exactly what we begged Dan Quinn to do.
Forget about it.
You can kick the field goal in overtime early in order to win.
You see him trot out Bass after the 19-yard run, the 13-yard run.
and Tyler Bass, kick your ass, 45 yards,
are you kidding me, bang, bang, bang, that was
awesome, absolutely incredible, Kelly Seinfeld loved it,
Bills fans loved it, and for Josh
Allen to act like Superman in that kind of spot,
just incredible, and listen, there was
no DJ Moore last night, a lot of things on defense,
the Bills have to clean up, you know,
James Cook, it's now I live for James Cook, it's
a thing right, got to be able to protect the ball
this was a big moment, big win, take a look
at the standings for top teams in the AFC and I purposely
wanted it to read this way because the Bills need ultimately
to get the one seed, worst case scenario
they need to win the division, hold off New England, they need
to win the division playoff games in
Buffalo win the AFC win the Super Bowl
if they would have lost last night they would be a second
place team in their own division
because New England has a tiebreaker so by winning that game
going to four and one with the Raiders coming up on a short week
and they're going to stay out on
the West Coast, go from LA to Vegas, this is important
and look if we're doing a power ranking
right there's an easy case to be made
that the Buffalo Bills are the best team in the AFC
and I know what it says in terms of 4-0 Kansas City
this is the point here when you have Josh
Allen playing like this you know Jacksonville
could end up getting the one seed with their
incredibly easy schedule
and Jacksonville is good in every single phase Baltimore without
Lamar Jackson going to Atlanta winning that game that was a big deal
but every Bills fan alive
knows that that's the kind of game
when those kind of things go wrong the Bills historically
find a way to lose
and it's oh no here we go again Josh Allen wouldn't let it happen
just a terrific tremendous unbelievable sporting
event high level quarterback play on both sides
what Allen did what Stafford did was unbelievable Allen had
to be out of this world in order to win
that game to be even better than Matthew Stafford,
who was on fire last night. That's just another
classic example of why this Bills team is built differently,
why they could be back in SoFi on
Valentine's Day, playing for a championship,
winning the first championship in Buffalo Bills
history. That was amazing theater, amazing drama.
That was right out of central casting. The best
football player in the NFL doing best football player
in the NFL kind of thing to win a game
on the flip side the Rams oh i mean
this right now is a hollywood flop two and three
Sean McVay not happy this one is uh this is the one this stinks
and uh it's gonna hurt but
we can't afford to let it uh we can't let this team beat us twice
and we're gonna have to regroup
and reset ourselves and it's been a while since i've
been this pissed after a game too
considering who you guys played
and the circumstances no there's no none of it makes
me feel good right now i'm proud of the effort
but none of none of it none of how i feel
um is positive other than i'm proud
of the resilience the guts that our team displayed
um but there's uh there's
no you know i don't even know what you want to call it but uh
you know congrats to the Bills
and i'm excited about how we freaking move forward
Sean McVay is pissed, and he should be.
And this was absolutely, from a Rams perspective,
a complete and utter hot mess, a disaster, a debacle.
It is well documented that I think Sean McVay
is a top three coach in the NFL.
And I think in a lot of ways, that's conventional wisdom.
You can debate the order, but it's Andy Reid,
it's Sean McVay, it's Kyle Shanahan.
We can talk about Sean Payton, talk about Mike McCarthy,
talk about Ben Johnson, talk about anyone else you want.
We'll talk about John Harbaugh.
Those are the top three coaches in the NFL, right?
I don't even think it's up for conversation or debate.
And frankly, after Andy Reid, McVay's number two.
Sean McVay has to take a hit.
I have called the Rams organization the best organization in the NFL,
best organization in sports.
The organization has to take a hit.
They keep messing it up with special teams.
It's the theater of the absurd.
Rams are two and three.
And if you check the standings in the NFC West,
you see where San Francisco is at 5-0.
In essence, because of the head-to-head week one,
they're four games out of first.
Going into week six, four games out of first.
And San Francisco beat the hell out of them in a week.
And let's be honest here,
where McVay and the Rams just punted in terms of the travel,
acted like they were taking a family vacation,
not going on a business trip, and this is a mess.
Mess.
And special teams has been anything but special.
And it's just killed Sean McVay and company.
Absolutely destroyed them.
Go back to last year,
where that Rams team was capable of winning the Super Bowl.
And we can talk about the Philly game, the Carolina game,
the Seattle Thursday night disaster.
And that impacted whether or not they won the division,
whether or not they got a bye,
where they played on Championship Sunday.
On Championship Sunday, they had more special teams disasters.
And then they go into this year, and it's even worse.
Yeah, they got robbed against Denver with the officials.
They blew a 16-0 lead, and special teams cost them in that game, too.
Last night, Mivas was atrocious.
And literally, right before we started
taping today's show, they cut his ass.
They got rid of him.
They brought in Groopey.
I don't even know if Groopey can make a field goal.
It doesn't even matter.
I mean, get a groupie, leader of the band, a hanger-on.
It doesn't matter.
It just can't be Harrison B. Evans anymore.
Get him out, out.
And it's got to be even deeper than that, even more.
I mean, everyone who's on special teams
for the Rams needs to be held accountable.
Everyone.
And honestly, I love McVay.
Why?
Why would you hold for a long-bomb field goal?
why would you take the pedal the foot off the gas
the pedal away from the metal why would you let
your kicker who missed earlier
who can't make a big kick of his life dependent on it who you cut
24 hours later why wouldn't you keep trying to score in that spot
or move it closer to take the
heat off take the pressure off i love McVay
but come on that can happen so bag it nevis groupies
in, so they bring him in from the
just practice squad, and
they have to make changes. You know what else they have to do?
They have to win. And here's
the deal. This is going to be the standard here
because I want to stress a couple of things
and I think it's all important.
The best team in the NFL, as we speak, after five
weeks is San Francisco. I refuse
to change
any of my expectations for the Rams.
I still think
their goal is to play in the Super Bowl
in their building. And if they fall
short, that means the season
was a failure you look at their schedule look
at their schedule for the next five weeks they have
the cardinals they have the raiders they have
the chargers they have the commanders and the cardinals
again win all five when we start talking about
the rams after their first 10 games they better be
seven and three because then you still have
to you know play the seahawks a couple times you still
have to take care of business against san francisco you know
that's going to be obviously a tough game
the schedule is going to have some tough games tougher games later
in the season you have to
win those two seven seven
and three win five straight you know the NFC is you know three
teams in the West including the Rams
that have Super Bowl aspirations I still maintain a couple
of teams are going to make the playoffs
from the NFC North haven't wavered on which two teams I
you know love before the season started the Bears
and the Minnesota Vikings someone has to win the
NFC East someone has to win the NFC South so it's go time here
because you have to change the kicker
last night and credit Buffalo Josh Allen's
unbelievable you could have should have won
that game could have should have won
the game against Denver Broncos you got lucky that Nick
Sirianni couldn't coach his way out
of a paper bag against the Philadelphia Eagles and bam
you took advantage.
But honestly, I understand why Sean McVay is pissed. And I love that he
publicly got pissed and then, 24 hours later,
got his kicker the hell out of town. Because enough
is enough, right? You don't get a Lombardi trophy
for what you do in the offseason. You don't get a
Lombardi trophy for assembling the Avengers on defense.
That's not how it works. You wasted a
golden game for Matthew Stafford and Puka Nakua
and Davante Adams and Kyren Williams
and the offense in the second half.
That Bills defense, begging to lose. The Bills had some
self-induced mistakes. Hey,
credit Landman with the peanut punch on James Cook without question,
but still, you got to find a way to seal that deal.
You have to find a way. No more excuses.
No more conversations.
No more off-season hardware.
It's go time.
Win the next five games.
That is my demand of the Rams.
Much more to do from this game.
We will get into the punch that has everyone buzzing,
delivered by Bradley Chubb and his response.
The Dodgers also got punched in the mouth last night.
Can they bounce back?
Will they have to do it without Shohei Ohtani?
Next on Shine Time.
The Dodgers got beat 7-4 last night in Game 2 in Milwaukee.
They now face an 0-2 hole in the NLCS as they head back to Los Angeles.
Mookie Betts was asked if doubt is starting to creep in.
I don't think there's much doubt going on.
I think we just have to regroup
and figure out what we need to do individually.
But there's no doubt.
So I believe what Mookie's saying because obviously this group,
been there, won that before.
but the Brewers have grossly, totally,
completely outplayed, outclassed, outperformed the Dodgers
first two games of the NLCS.
And frankly, it has not been a fair fight. If you've watched the
games, the eyeball tests,
the fact that Yamamoto got chased in the third inning. I mean, we're
talking about a playoff legend, the playoff icon on the other hand.
Brewer ball is real and spectacular.
They get on base, they're tough, they're clutch, they know how
to advance runners, they hit in prime time, crunch time situations.
The Brewers' bullpen has been absolutely lights out.
And frankly, considering that they had
a sustained losing streak against the Dodgers in the playoffs,
and there are a lot of smart people, myself included,
who thought the Dodgers would make relatively easy work of the Brewers,
since they always do in the postseason,
is an incredible job by Milwaukee.
incredible job by Milwaukee.
I want you to look at what ultimately doomed Yamamoto.
And I want you to focus on a couple
of important things here on this pool, okay?
When you look at what transpired with the Bryce Harper walk,
that was on a 3-2 pitch.
And Dave Roberts, after the game, to his credit,
went nuts on his catcher, Will Smith,
who refused to get jiggy with it and refused to go to the ABS
and refused to ask for a challenge
it was crystal clear that was strike three
and that would have been the second out that could
have changed everything
so how Will Smith didn't do that that is a ridiculous faux pas an awful
mistake. Yamamoto was begging him, going to his head,
begging him to challenge, and he didn't do
it. What a terrible job by Will Smith.
I don't know if that's arrogance, ignorance, incompetence,
ego, you know, mixed bag for Will Smith with the ABS this year.
After starting hot, I was hot as
someone who thought the Dodgers could and would win that game.
And guys, go back to that if you
can one more time. And what happened in the inning?
Because I want to focus on then what
happened when you look at the Jake Bowers walk.
That right there, this is a great example
of winning baseball. Bowers walks on a 12-pitch at-bat.
This is the kind of at-bat that if
you're a Yankees fan and you remember the 90s Yankees,
that's what the Yankees used
if you're a Dodgers fan over the last couple
of years in the playoffs in big spots that's what
the Dodgers do so you capitalize on a mistake from the opposition
then you have an unbelievable
at bat and then bam Christian Yelich
who I just love think the world of former MVP so tough so
clutch so likable two runs single Milwaukee takes
the lead I mean that that's everything that that's
it for Yamamoto. That's it.
He's a playoff icon and a legend. And Will Smith screwed
that whole thing up last night.
That was the turning point of the game. Then the Bowers
walk, then Yelich.
Dodgers were able to capture the lead and then Contreras hit a bomb. I
mean, it's still going.
By the way, he's still going around the bases. And it's not like
this is, you know, they were losing 8-1.
It's a game tying home run. Brewers fans have
never seen a World Series the Dodgers have
been the kryptonite I mean my man took his time just
jogging around the bases I mean he said I'm gonna soak
this one in and and by the way I'm not even
being critical let's be crystal clear
on that he's you know able to do it because he can so I thought
that was pretty awesome stuff when you take a look at it
and you know the Dodgers futility in this
game was just awful. Nothing went right for this team.
And you look at what they've done in this
series or lack thereof. I mean, pretty significant.
They have not been able to hit. They can't hit
with runners in scoring position.
They couldn't make contact. And by the way, and we said this
before, but I want to stress it here.
The Brewers pen has been unbelievable. They're dynamic. They're
diverse they throw filthy stuff Pat Murphy's done
an unbelievable job managing them and listen I
understand because it's the Dodgers and I picked them
and I love them and I appreciate them this
series is not over as bleak as it looks
but now we're talking about Shohei Ohtani and Shohei Ohtani
has not performed at all this postseason Dave Roberts talking
to the California Post after game number
too, made it pretty crystal clear.
Everything is on the table. And there is a real shot that
you are going to see Dave Roberts bench Shohei Ohtani.
I want you to look at the Ohtani stats
from this postseason. They are absolutely repulsive.
They are terrible. And he is clearly
not healthy. I'm on record saying a couple things,
and I want you to listen to this as you stare at
these stats. Shohei Otani is the greatest talent
in the history of Major League Baseball. Shohei
Otani is unbelievable.
Shohei Ohtani is 3-for-20 this postseason with no extra base hits. Every
time he steps to the plate, I think he's going to strike out.
Every single time. Every time.
Here's the best compare and contrast I have for Aaron Judge.
Aaron Judge was clearly not healthy.
missed 100 games came back and he was awful in the month of September
and re-aggravated the injury
got hurt again and he was pissed if you remember where we played
the soundbite he wasn't happy the
Yankees gonna shut him down the Yankees shut him down
because he's not healthy it is obvious I'm
not a doctor occasionally I play one on television Ohtani's
not healthy I understand the weight of
this just like at the end of the day there was weight
in the Yankees not playing Judge and Judge
wasn't happy and obviously with Ohtani he's
not only just a Dodger icon a baseball icon he's a
global icon so of course they need to bench Shohei Ohtani
and it's not even like bench because he's
not productive he can't play
because he's not healthy no one's sitting here at least not me
I'm not being critical of Otani.
I feel bad for him.
Just like I felt bad for Judge when he returned.
Because you know what they're capable of.
They're MVPs.
They're living legends.
But Otani, and I give Dave Roberts credit,
they dropped him from the top of the order to five.
Then at the end of the day,
I think you have to just drop him to the bench.
I don't know how you can trot him out there.
Maybe he gets healthier as the series moves along.
but at this stage he's not healthy
and i think physically right now it's impacting him mentally
i also think there's something to consider here
and you know i i know this is going to resonate
for Shohei Ohtani, our team has been home since the middle of August
so it's not just the playoff
stats which tell me he's
not healthy he's had multiple injuries all over his body for the entire
last couple of months like I hate saying
this and this is not a hot take I'm not wearing oven mitts
no one is bigger for Ohtani than Babe Ruth
everything we've ever said but for the 2026
Dodgers right now just like the Yankees
is the right thing with Judge you have to sit him for
himself for the team he just can't function right now like I understand
the weight of this but to
To me, it's not even, at this stage, a multiple-choice question.
Meanwhile, in the ALCS, how about the Guardians?
I was floored by this.
Rallied in Game 1 to beat the Rays 7-3.
They were down 2-0, and honestly, I thought the game was over
with Rasmussen on the hill.
I did not think there was a shot that they were going to come back.
Boy, Jose Ramirez is a Hall of Famer.
What he does in crunch time, what he does when it matters the most.
Offense, defense, at the center of it again.
DeLauro was great.
How about Joe Adele? Adele, hello.
We made a big deal about that move when they picked him up from
the Angels at the deadline.
Listen, I still think the Rays win this series. I still think Tampa is
the better team. But man, ebb and flow and also on game prediction,
I could not have been more
wrong on what transpired last night.
Terrific job by the Guardians. Absolutely terrific job
coming back in the fashion they did
last night in Tampa.
It's Jerry Jones hitting the panic button in Dallas.
Christian Parker's head is on a swivel.
Jerry making the right move. We'll discuss
next.
I spoke with the team
and with the coaches
today and honestly
just curious about our execution.
Crucial moments of the game.
We worked really hard on these
and it didn't look like yesterday.
Josh and I, we talk regularly
before games, after games, after
good games, after tough games and
that's a normal process for us.
And trust me, no one is pleased with this outcome and where we're at.
Let me tell you where you're at, Dan Quinn.
You're going to get fired, and you deserve to get fired.
And the fact that he just continues to word salad us
and referencing the conversation he would have with Josh Harris
after this game, others' game.
Dan, it's over.
The whole thing, it's over.
Bag it, Dan Quinn.
And you have the 49ers this week?
Like, how at the end of the day
are the Washington Commanders even going to let you get on that plane?
How are you still wearing the backwards hat coaching
the Washington Commanders?
How is this still a thing?
I mean, Jayden Daniels needs to be safe.
Jaden Daniels needs a real head coach
who's buttoned up and it's not a clown show.
I mean, this schedule coming up is impossible.
He's going to get fired.
why you let him actually still coach the team
and basically you're letting everyone in Washington
just understand that there's no accountability here
this remains the single worst thing I've
ever seen from any coach ever in terms
of game management that is as bad as it gets did you
happen to see what Joe Brady did in terms of kicking in overtime
and how to handle that and
went to handle that just throwing that out there
no feel no clue no direction nothing you know
they're gonna have the Giants coming up soon they're gonna have
the Philadelphia Eagles coming
up soon they're gonna have San Francisco
this week total mess total debacle absolute clown show
and just a wasted opportunity
and how Josh Harris got through that meeting without firing Dan Quinn
I'll never know.
Seriously.
There is an official expiration date on Dan Quinn.
How they didn't fire him before the San Francisco game, please.
There are other NFC East coaches
who may have some cause for concern as well.
On Monday, Brian Schottenheimer announced the hiring of Mike Pettine
as the Cowboys' new senior defensive assistant.
Jerry Jones said defensive coordinator Christian Parker
will move from the sideline to the booth this week.
So, where is Parker's head at?
How much of this, you know, this addition of Mike Pettin is about
Christian Parker potentially being overwhelmed as a young coach?
Well, I don't look at it that way.
You know, we had Uberflues, our defensive coordinator last year,
serves in the same role for San Francisco right now.
And he is their advisor.
Do you think Parker has been a little overwhelmed,
though, in this first couple of weeks?
No, no, I don't think that's the right word.
I think he's covering a lot of ground.
So, let me actually defend this move
in terms of moving Christian Parker
and the actual physical location of where he calls the plays
and the move of bringing in Mike Pettine.
Mike Pettine, to me, is a terrific, terrific hire.
And Christian Parker was originally hired in the NFL by Mike Pettine
on the Green Bay coaching staff.
And Mike Pettine was the defensive coordinator for the Jets under
Rex Ryan when the offensive coordinator was Brian Schottenheimer.
So, there's actually a lot of logic here.
Now, apparently, according to multiple reports,
Christian Parker wanted Mike Pettine to work with him
as a senior defensive assistant when he took the job.
Mike Pettine, great defensive mind, buttoned up, buckled up,
terrific when it comes to scouting, terrific when it comes
to utilization of all sorts of analytics when it comes to defense.
He was ahead of the curve on that. I think this makes a lot of sense.
And look, let's tie this in with the Washington Giants situation.
Tie this in with the Eagles situation.
I still very much believe the Dallas Cowboys win the NFC
As atrocious as that performance was against Tampa Bay at home
Against an undrafted rookie free agent quarterback
Who's making his first ever career road start
I still think the Dallas Cowboys have the most upside in this division
Now, the Giants will have something to say about this
They're in first place
Obviously, they're in a spot in a situation where
They're in a lot of close games
They're not that talented
the quarterback's done for the year,
the best defensive player's out for the year,
best overall player in Brian Burns.
But Harbaugh's clearly the best coach in the division.
But this, to me, just shows once again that at the end of the day,
the Dallas Cowboys still have high aspirations.
I only think one team in the NFC East is going to make the playoffs.
Preseason, I said two.
Dallas wins the division.
Philadelphia makes it.
I don't think this is panic.
I don't think this is chaos.
I think this is a smart move by Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaking of the Cowboys, they take
on the Packers this week at Lambeau Field.
Are they going to see the season debut,
their former star, Michael Parsons?
As soon as they give us the green light, he'll be out there.
So that hasn't happened yet, but I think we're getting closer.
First of all, you've got to get him back on the practice field.
There's a lot of testing that goes
on before he gets medically cleared to get out there.
And then I'm sure we're going to want
to give him some time to get back to playing football.
As you see with most guys that are coming off a major injury,
it takes a little bit of time.
So that tells me that Parsons has no shot of returning.
He's getting closer.
And obviously, if you're a Packers fan,
you're feeling great about what transpired,
where you beat the hell out of your blood rivals,
and the Bears were all sorts of confident,
and Ben Johnson and Matt LaFleur hate each other.
And I am a huge Matt LaFleur fan.
I would also like to think that the Cowboys
are going to give them their best shot.
And that the Cowboys and Dak Prescott and company were humbled,
humiliated, and embarrassed.
So I think that asking the Green Bay Packers
to duplicate that kind of effort at home
against their blood rival,
against a coach that they hate, their coach hates,
I think that is too much.
I think no Micah Parsons is a big deal in this one.
And I think you're going to see the Dallas Cowboys
take care of business going up against Green Bay on Sunday.
To the NBA now, where Carmelo Anthony entered the chat
of the Knicks in their contractual discussions, or lack thereof,
with Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart.
Melo had this to say at NBC Sports Studios,
backing the team's decision to end the negotiations for the time being.
I just think things just move so fast now
If you get a chance to celebrate the championship,
then it's business as usual, right?
Business has to go on.
I think it was big for them to stop the conversations.
We're going to do that at the end of the season.
Right now, let it be all ball.
Let's go to defend this championship,
and I think both parties will understand.
Interesting hearing Melo talk about that, because,
you know, Melo, obviously, when he played,
you know, whether it was contracts
or not being happy with this or that,
or in Denver, trade the man to New York, you know,
He understands players when it comes to business.
So I would think that from a Knicks standpoint,
that's ultimately keeping the Knicks
and Five energy alive for this season.
Rewarding Karl-Anthony Towns would have
been the right thing and the only thing.
I do appreciate what Melo's saying about focusing
with the eye on the prize
in the next season and the next game and winning another championship.
Jalen Brunson talked to the press,
and he said that he's convinced that Josh Hart and Karl-Anthony Towns
will be absolutely focused as well.
I just think making this so public, whether you're Towns and Hart,
but then the response from the team,
that to me did not make too much sense.
From one Melo to another, Timberwolves coach Chris Finch
seems to be enjoying his newest addition, the Melo Ball.
Maybe more than that, he's happy not to have some of the players
the Wolves acquired in the offseason.
You can read between the lines, I'll do it for you,
And what Finch had to say on LaMelo,
always in a great mood, comes in smiling.
He and Anthony have a shared quality, they're really hard to stay mad at.
We refer to ourselves as a moody team the last couple
of years at times, and it's probably gotten in our way.
We've created moodiness, forgettiness.
So we've got to kind of get back to some sort of equilibrium.
But the fun's going to work every day so far.
So a couple of things here.
Number one, I love LaMelo Ball.
and specifically LaMelo Ball
with Anthony Edwards, and they have to mix it up.
Look, he clearly is talking about,
in some way, shape, or form, Nas Reed,
but he's really talking about Julius Randle.
And here's the deal with Julius Randle,
and I'm saying this as a basketball observer
and a commentator and a host, but also as a Knicks fan.
I love Julius Randle. I think Julius Randle is a terrific player.
There's a cap on how far you can go with Julius Randle.
The Knicks-Julius Randle deal was amazing,
obviously, and we said it at the time,
and it made no sense for Minnesota, and clearly they agreed,
and, you know, they were the losers of the trade.
Knicks win a title with Karl-Anthony Towns, and they have to get rid
of the moodiness and bring in some giddiness, and also, you know,
Julius Randle, he puts up 20-10, but it's a black hole of offense.
Ball goes in, never goes out, and with Anthony Edwards,
that can't be the case, so here's LaMelo Ball,
and he'll distribute, and it's going to be Ant's team.
get rid of Naz Reid. And I like what the Wolves are doing.
I want to be crystal clear.
But for the Nets, as an example, I think Julius Randle is gold.
Julius Randle will help them,
help them win. The Nets could actually win more
games than you anticipate. Julius Randle is a
reason why. Look at what he did
when he signed with the Knicks the first time around. That was
a big deal and he helped the Knicks get to different heights
so Chris Finch is right you
know but that that's a bar that gets people's attention
this is why it was trending as much
as it was on X last night because he's throwing shots
and i'm sure in the locker room this is
100 percent true i'm sure on the court this will prove to be 100 percent true i
also think in terms of keeping
that getting this going, especially
when you start ripping former
players. And Naz Reid was a very popular
player in Minnesota. Randall, not so much.
My best advice to Chris Finch,
might want to get off the blocks. Up next,
it's time for Shine's Guide. Best performance of the week
in the NFL. Did my guy Aaron Rodgers
make the list after falling out again
against the Colts? Find out next on Shine Time.
Ah, yes. Welcome back to
Shine Time. It is, in fact,
the most prestigious
weekly honor
in the National Football League.
Being one of Shine's guys after a week in the NFL.
Let's start with number five, my guy Mike Evans.
I am Mike Evans obsessed.
We said on Shine Time, it was our first ever show.
When he went to the San Francisco 49ers,
this would be just like when Devontae
Adams went to the Rams a year ago.
Mike Evans is a first ballot Hall of Famer.
Did you notice when my guy Brock Purdy needed
to make plays in the fourth quarter?
Mike Evans.
Mike Evans.
Mike Evans, Mike Evans, the stats were unbelievable,
the feel was even better, loved when Mike
Evans did at the end of the day, the digs,
you know, turning him around, looking at his
jersey, do I know you bro?
Seven catches, a touchdown, 113 yards,
and what he did, look at what's in red on your
screen, four catches, 75 yards,
a two-point conversion on the go-ahead drive and the touchdown
to Brandon Cooks. That's value. That drive right there.
This board right here. That's exactly why
Mike Evans is my guy. Number four, my guy, David Bell.
Listen, if you're a Jets fan, this is cool.
This is awesome. This is what you needed to see
for all the Arvell Reese conversation, which was
legit. You needed to see David Bell diving in the air,
flying through raindrops, barreling
through the offensive line for the Cleveland Browns.
Sacking Deshaun Watson as much as he did
three times in the game. I mean, hits, tackles, pressures, presence.
He was, if you look at it
objectively, the best player on the field during
the Cleveland Jets game in the rain at MetLife
Stadium. My guy, David Bailey.
Number three, my guy, Matt LaFleur. Listen, I gave this team no
shot absolutely no chance and Matt LaFleur
who I think is fabulous and he should absolutely never
be on the hot seat in Green Bay
and I still don't buy the Packers by the way for this season even
after what they did to the Chicago Bears Matt LaFleur
is a fabulous coach he found all the
bulletin board material and everything Luther Burton was saying
and kind of how egotistical
the Bears were, and he used
it to the advantage of the Green Bay
Packers. By the way, LaFleur is an
offensive guru, and this is the best game
we've ever seen Jordan Love play. I thought
Watson was terrific. I thought the line
was strong. I thought Matthew Golden was
just that. Gold, finally, at the wide
receiver position. They ran the ball
with authority. Jonathan Gannon, who LaFleur
hired, had his best day as the Packers
defensive coordinator. This
was a monster win. There have been
other wins this year where you're kind of,
Okay, nice.
Aaron Glenn blew it away, too.
You beat the Bucs.
You know, didn't exactly look great.
This was the win of the year for the Green Bay Packers.
My guy, Matt LaFleur.
Number two, my guy, Josh Allen.
I mean, he's Superman.
He's Mozart.
He's Picasso.
He's John Elway.
He's Paul Bunyan.
All rolled into one.
No one can say anymore, well,
Josh Allen doesn't get it done in overtime.
Oh, for his career in OT.
Nonsense.
He is now entrenched and stamped as a primetime player,
best player in the NFL, bar none.
Listen, he just said, I'm going to do it myself, and he did.
After the James Cook fumble, after what transpired
with the mess with the Rams for the field goal attempt,
Josh Allen, center stage, getting it done,
and you see it on the board right there as a dual threat.
Throwing the ball, running the ball,
running with precision, running with domination.
my guy Josh Allen and number one my guy Jalen Warren
and i pay attention when my guy Aaron
Rogers talks and he said the media is not giving
my guy Jalen Warren enough credit that was good
enough for me i want you to take a look
at what we put together our associate producer Tommy Tapes
look at our guy Jalen Warren taking that pass
and Rogers got drilled and he's able to just
go into the end zone
and look at this one cut bam go look at how physical slippery he is
bye bye Indianapolis
my god Jalen Warren wait
there's more Bradley
what happened after that
game can you tell me about it oh just emotions
you know i mean emotional game uh it was a close
game and you know they always catch the second guy
so i let him swing and then my teammates
held me back and I just chilled. Who exactly
were you quarreling with? It looked like you were arguing
with Myles Garrett? Who was... Nah, I mean it's
the whole team man, you know just like I said an emotional
game uh tempers got flared but it is what it is we flushed
it and we on to next week somebody swung
at you yeah somebody swung but hey that's not on me to tell
who. There's cameras out there I just know
you know I'm just ready for next week. Did it connect? I'm just ready
for next week respect to Bradley
Chubb for handling that the right way after the game
but you know Larrick Jackson sucker punched
him. By the way, he's going to get suspended.
And he didn't name names. He wasn't going
to snitch. I mean, he just walked right up to him.
Look at this. I mean, that looks like
one of the Shine Time production meetings.
I mean, that was insane. I mean, Jackson will
get suspended, which by the way,
if you're a Rams fan on the heels of that mess last
night, and I just got done telling you they got
to win the next five games all against
inferior teams. You can't do that.
I don't care what was said on the field, off the field,
before the game, during the game, after the game.
Shake hands.
Get the hell into the locker room.
You can't do that.
That's the show.
If you miss any portion of the show, just do what I do.
Rewatch the show over and over and over again.
