Curry is the Galar region's signature food. Here's how to make it in real life!
Curry:
1 TBL olive oil 1/2 small onion, rough chop 1 small potato 1 small carrot, hayashi cut 1/2 curry block 1 cup water
Rice: 1/2 cup rice 1 tsp turmeric 1 cup chicken broth Pinch of salt
Turmeric toast: 4 slices shokupan or other soft sweet bread 2 TBL butter, melted 1/4 tsp turmeric 1/4 tsp garlic powder Pinch of salt
Chopped chives to serve
For Curry: In a small pot over medium heat, place olive oil. Add onions and carrots and sauté for about five minutes or until fragrant and a little brown around the edges. Add potatoes and water and bring to a boil. Reduce to a low simmer, cover, and cook for 20 minutes or until potatoes are cooked.
Add curry block and stir until it melts. Take off heat and cover until ready to use.
For Rice: In a small pot place olive oil and rice over medium heat. Saute until lightly brown and rice smells nutty. Add in turmeric and toss rice to coat. Add chicken broth and bring to a boil. Turn down to a low simmer, cover, and cook for 25 minutes or until rice is cooked. Fluff, and set aside until ready to serve.
Turmeric toast: Slice shokupan or other sweet bread into thick slices. In a small bowl combine melted butter, turmeric, and garlic powder. Brush the slices with this mixture and toast until lightly golden.
To serve: Serve hot curry and rice in a small bowl or place. Top with toast and garnish with toast slices and chopped cilantro. Serve hot.
Alright, gather around Pokemon friends,
we're fixing to make a batch of... Toast Curry!
Alright, for the first time ever in these videos,
I'm going to use boxed curry mix.
You can use your favorite brand and heat level.
You'll only need about half a box.
As for veggies, I'm going to use onion, carrot, and potato.
Here's how I like slicing them up
for curry. For the carrot, first you want to peel it,
then slice off the end. Now slice at an angle,
alternating angles like this it's called
a hayashi cut cool huh all right
for the potato you'll want
to peel that too then slice it in half now slice
your half into thirds then you can slice it into
big chunks place your chunks in water
so they don't brown on you lastly the onion slice it
in half we're not going to need the whole thing
but slice your half in half now take one of your
halves and run the knife through the top twice
then you can slice it into big chunks the other
way you can put these in the bowl
with your carrot let's go cook them up
in a small pot goes a little
olive oil once it's hot add your carrots
and your onions cook these for about five to eight minutes
or until they take on a little bit
of color okay now you can add your potatoes and a little bit of
water bring to a boil and then cover
and cook on low until the potatoes
are cooked about 20 minutes
now you can add your roux cook it on low
while stirring until the whole thing comes together
it's done and yeah i feel a little bit dirty for using a box mix
but i've made my peace with it
the rice is even easier in a small pot goes olive oil
and plain old white rice cook this
for five minutes or until it smells nutty
and it kind of looks like this now you can add your
turmeric and toss to coat then add your chicken
broth bring to a boil cover and cook on low until
the rice is cooked about 20 minutes
then you can fluff it with a fork now this is toast curry which
is built on shokupan the usual place where i get my shokupan was out
but any sweet milk bread works
i think this one's portuguese anyway slice it into thick slices
then you can place those slices
on foil lined sheet in a small bowl combine
a little bit of melted butter turmeric and garlic
powder stir then you can brush on your little
toasties toast them in your toaster oven or under
a broiler until they're lightly golden right time
to serve it up place hot curry and rice on a
a serving plate then top it with a slice
or two of that toast maybe even some chopped chives just
for a little bit of color simple
and totally tasty i have a feeling i'm going to be making
way more of these but for now toast curry
is yummy remember the full recipe is in the description of
the video if it went too fast for you there's links
