The Winnipeg Jets have a perfect opportunity to get a huge momentum win against the Minnesota Wild tonight. But yes, today we're back talking about the Winnipeg Jets as they have a huge chance to go out and get a big win against the Minnesota Wild tonight. A team that is top of their division only by two points. So it's a big game tonight. If the Jets can go out and get these two points tonight, they can tie for first in the Central Division. So it's going to be a fun one tonight. So hopefully we can go out and get this win. So let's dive into what the big thing that the Winnipeg Jets need to do to get this win tonight. Let's go dive right into it here now as we talk about Kyle Connor needs help against Minnesota, right? Kyle Connor has been leading the offensive charge for this Winnipeg Jets team for quite some time now. We kind of see his expected goals for this season are about 2.8, which is about three, but he has six right now, all coming from this kind of inner slot area. You see his slot shots have been about 50% of the shots he's been taking, but he scored a lot four from in this like see that inner blue square there which is the inner slot uh which has been great or four from the slot and the inner slot is just a wider box there uh so he's been having a great goal scoring from all around the net he's been getting his shots off just dominating the scoreboard in terms of goal scoring and just looking at how he's played against Minnesota in his last eight meetings he has you know hasn't had the best you know he's been a half a goal so he's scoring at once every couple of games again or once every second game against the Minnesota Wild, his points he's still averaging a point a game against the Minnesota Wild so we could just see him on the assist board tonight and you see here this season uh he's in his last eight games he's averaging a goal averaging almost two points so i you know he's having a great start to the year so just just wanted to kind of compare that against how he's played against Minnesota but you know Kyle Connor's been on a rampage and i don't expect it to stop tonight it's a big game for them they know that going in that they can beat the top in their division and show everyone that they're back and I think they're going to be seeing that see his recent form Kyle Connor over you know his last three games about 0.3 points a game you see here this recent form is great for him just having you know some great games over this over this stretch having some great goals over the goals per game over this stretch as well he's been having an absolute tear this season which is great to see and if we compare him against the top guy in Minnesota which is Kirill Kaprizov uh you know we're beating him over goals per game over points per game and over shots on goal a game too so you know I think Kaprizov might have the edge on shooting percentage here but in terms of who's playing better right now it is our boy KFC Kyle Connor so that's great to see going into this game I definitely think Kyle Connor is a guy who doesn't get enough respect around the league and we need to see this right like we need to see him you know start to get respected as I said they need like two points to tie Minnesota right now they're 4-1-1 to start the year we could be 4-1-1 to start the year now after tonight's game it's a big game it's going to be a big test for this team and it's really going to show us if we can hang with the big dogs in the NHL and we just kind of just take a look here Winnipeg seeks secondary scoring it's a big thing right we need secondary scoring tonight we need our second line to step up big time and looking right now Bjork doesn't have a point this season Nino Niederreiter does as well he joins up on this second line tonight so that'll be interesting to see kind of two bets with Bjork i like what i've seen out of Vigo though he's been great defensively he's just been doing everything right i think tonight might be his night to break out and get a point and Velarde we talked about him yesterday needs to get those goals up still hasn't scored yet maybe tonight he's the one he gets out and goes and gets a big one we kind of see Perfetti's last eight meetings against Minnesota he's averaging half a point a game this season he's averaging a point a game so another guy that's been red hot. Hopefully we can see him continue this into tonight's matchup against Minnesota where he can score his first goal of the season. And we just see here there's some projected line changes. Like I said, Niederreiter is joining Bjork and Velarde Barron centers Kepke and Messikoff. I believe this will be on the fourth line. And then Lambert practices an extra forward. So we'll see probably Rosean will join Lowry and I follow. So just trying to get a little bit of a shakeup going here. Maybe we'll see Rosean play better with Lowry and I follow. just having a you know speedy younger faster guy to play with these veterans might help and maybe getting a guy like Niederreiter up with the Bjork will be able to help set him up to get hit some goals for him as well so interesting shake-ups in the lines today so we'll have to see if it works out against the Minnesota Wild definitely think it will i really like having two bets with Vigo Bjork i definitely think that's definitely the option going forward but i do like what i've seen out of Roseanne to start the year to be honest with you guys as well but Stuart Skinner faces Minnesota's attack you know as we kind of just look at how the goalies are so far you know obviously Clayton Stevenson had a bad last one but he's at 872 save percentage with two starts on the year Stuart Skinner he's been the guy who has been amazing this year 9-19 save percentage to start the year for this team and it's just been all over and he's going to be a guy who's going to come into tonight's matchup and really have a tough task against a top guy in Kirill Kaprizov who has already nine points on the season through six games for the Minnesota Wild. Six goals, three assists for him. He's just such a great player, right? Great hands, great shot, great passing, just an elite offensive talent. And we get to see him come into our barn tonight and we get to see him against our team tonight. And hopefully, you know, obviously we can shut this guy down. That's going to be a key takeaway for this game it's just kind of protect the slot because, you know, Stuart Skinner's high danger save percentage hasn't been the best at a 7-3-7 so we'd like to see that climb up when there's high danger opportunities down low that Stuart Skinner can save some of them right we need to see that obviously his medium danger low danger has been amazing save percentage is very high and a save percentage overall is very high but we need to start getting him to save those crucial saves to high danger chances and we it's going to be crucial against a big team like the Minnesota tonight who are so offense oriented so hopefully we can see that and just kind of looking at Kaprizov's uh you know danger chart kind of start the year here he has uh two goals from the inner slot two goals from the slot two goals from the point which is very interesting but kind of just seeing him mix it all over the ice as a guy who can go all over the ice with it he's just so good with his hands and speed he can shoot from anywhere and score he's just that type of player so we need to shut that down tonight another big thing thing thing for us going into tonight is Morrissey I still listed day to day with an upper body he's worked separately before monday's practice tuesday availability still needs to be confirmed we're not sure if we'll be with him or be without him tonight at this point while i'm recording this video but i definitely think we should be prepared to go into another game without Josh Morrissey this would be a great game for him to return though against the Minnesota Wild but i think we can beat this team without him to be honest with you guys you know obviously he's a guy who can come in obviously make the power play a lot better make the exits a lot better so hopefully we will see him in tonight's game that would be great but the winnipeg jets uh must win the details right there's some certain things that they've been working on that they need to do to win tonight obviously the jets power play and penalty kill has been phenomenal to start the season 91 on the penalty kill about 29 on the power play so the jets have been good in those areas of the game so hopefully we can see that going forward perfetti has been a guy has been great on the power play he's got four power play points so far uh this season so that's great obviously we need to see him keep going forward with that try to get his first goal or not Perfetti's first goal we gotta try to see him just go forward keep creating momentum on the power play obviously he scores one goal on the power play already for Perfetti, Connor Schauppele has been a great line Schauppele we talked about yesterday hopefully we can see him get his first goal tonight as well and get him going and get that off his shoulders and just kind of looking at the keys to victory here for the winnipeg jets tonight attack early against a team on the back to back get a second line chances and net front traffic protect the slot clear rebounds keep the power play moving protect against rushes manage puck through the final period and obviously tonight like i said it's a big one against Minnesota Wild then we got the Blackhawks and then another big one against the Hurricanes the Blackhawks now have Connor Bedard back so this is going to be some tough games coming up but it can all start and get the momentum like i said they had the perfect opportunity to go out tonight build this momentum off a big win against the top team in your division and just carry that momentum forward beat the Blackhawks then beat the Hurricanes and then you're kind of on a roll i bet the jets have looked good so far this season. Kyle Connor's looked amazing. Hopefully, we can get some secondary scoring tonight. Hopefully, we can see Viggo Björk's first points as well with some changes in the lineup.
