Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe video discusses the potential return of goaltender Connor Hellebuyck to the Winnipeg Jets following the end of his suspension on October 23rd. It explores the locker room tension surrounding his return, the team's recent performance against the Carolina Hurricanes, and updates on player health and standings.
I can't believe this is happening as Elliot Friedman drops
a bombshell about Connor Hellebuck
potentially returning to the Winnipeg Jets lineup.
In this video, we're going to break
down everything about this situation,
talk about everything in our loss yesterday to the Carolina Hurricanes.
So you're not going to miss this episode of Winnipeg Jets Digest.

But yes, today we're here talking about Connor Hellebuck
potentially rejoining the team as soon as next week.
This is something I never thought I would say
when he did get suspended, but per reports from Elliot Friedman,
who is a very, very reputable insider,
he said that the suspension
of Connor Hellebuck ends on Friday, October 23rd.
23rd so this coming Friday now we could see Connor Hellebuck rejoin
the team be in practices do I
think he'll be our starting goaltender probably
not but he will rejoin the team but he also does
you know have the option to do this kind
of the timeline you know he was intentioned to report
back in October the 2nd
then it was return date was reported you know after suspension ended
october 23rd now he's eligible to return on october 23rd
which is crazy i just thought that
we could just sit him on the couch all year
and just you know not not you know obviously not pay
him but that's not the case apparently
his suspension ends here october 23rd and now if we
do still want to keep him away from this roster we now will have
to pay his salary which uh yeah
that that sucks let's just put bluntly that that really
that really hurts us if we really had to
pay his salary just for him to sit at home
but it'll be interesting to see now if he does rejoin
the team I have seen some reports come out saying
that he would be willing to report to the practice
and report to the team so uh yeah we'll have
to see what happens here come Friday and we might
see Connor Hellebuyck back out on the ice uh with this team
and I think now that you know
the Winnipeg Jets have had a solid start
to the year I think he maybe has changed his mind and
saying yeah maybe i can see myself winning here in winnipeg
but uh you know i obviously have some
some weird feelings towards that i i really don't want
a player with with my with my team that wants
you know doesn't want uh to be there
and like had had a no doubts in this roster had doubts
in his teammates and in this locker room on whether we could win
or not you know i think
having that uh mentality around the locker room
is going to hurt us in the long run and you know
i really don't want him there to be honest
with you guys like to hear your thoughts now down below
in the comment section but here we see
from Friedman again one possibility is the jets pay
him to stay at home so you know we could see
Hellebuyck you know still you know be at home be
on the couch uh waiting for a trade to happen
and this time he will be getting paid which will hurt
us even more so uh we really need to figure out
a trade we need to figure out if he wants to come
back this week is going to be crucial in terms
of the Connor Hellebuyck saga and we'll keep you
guys up to date on everything
and as we've alluded to last year i mean Hellebuyck had a bit of a down
year and .895 is still
not too bad he's still 0.005 uh percentage uh out of getting to the
to the .900 uh career save percent
or to the .900 uh save percentage last season but you know
obviously this is a guy who won the Vez
in two seasons ago he's a great goaltender no doubt about
it and yeah he might have had a bit of a down year
but i think all this team last year kind of had a
bit of a down year barring Connor and Scheifele uh
so uh maybe he will come back and maybe he will
play some games and maybe we'll see uh Stu and uh
and obviously uh you know Hellebuyck be the one
and two punch here this year
but uh you know i'd be willing to just ride with Hellebuyck and Stevenson
at this point because uh you know i really like
what i'm seeing out of those guys to be honest
with you guys and i just seen here Adam Lowry
addresses Connor Hellebuyck's return and this is
what he had to say now this is a great quote
by the captain here Adam Lowry said if he does show
up conversations are going to have happened
and I mean I definitely think I agree with this right
because obviously as the captain he knows everybody
in the locker room kind of feels betrayed by
Hellebuyck right yeah he requested
a trade after last season now we're this far in I we're into
the season now and he still hasn't been traded he's sitting
at home not willing to come to this
team and report to this team and then get suspended for it
and now we're here talking about him
potentially rejoining I think guys like Lowry Scheifele Connor all
the big guns here all the
leadership group in Winnipeg is going to have to get together
and talk about whether you know
is it worth bringing a guy like this back
into our locker room how are we going to deal with it
because I know some guys feel a certain way about it
and what are we going to do to kind of make
sure that there is no you know bad blood between players
in the locker room and it's definitely
going to be a tricky situation the juggle for guys like Lowry
and Scheifele and you know obviously
more seeing guys like this but hopefully I know
that they all do feel betrayed by Hellebuck and
him coming back into this locker room will be a bit weird
and I know that there will be a weird
feeling and a weird tension between all these players
that we hope don't transition to the ice
so hopefully all this can be cleared up hope I know Lowry's
a great captain and he'll be able to
you know get everybody's minds in in order
and try to be able to deal with him coming back
Lowry's had a solid start to the season for us
as well one goal three six three assists we love to
see that uh from the captain
which is great to see just kind of look at the next stop next stop
what remains resolved is whether Hellebuck rejoins the team
or not we don't know what his kind of
thought process is on this right now how
do conversations with the room unfold we got to
figure out what everybody's going to say it's going
to be interesting to see what the y'all
say to the media about this if he does rejoin uh
because i do think there will be some bad blood
between uh teammates here
and whether Winnipeg completes a trade I definitely think now is
crucial for them to uh get a trade done like
with his suspension um you know obviously coming up to
an end in him potentially rejoining
the team uh we're gonna need uh obviously this uh this team
to uh to obviously uh you know figure out what they want
to do what Kevin Cheveldayoff wants to do
does he want to trade him does he think that he's still
a valuable asset to us and is he going to
sit him at home we're going to have
to see what Cheveldayoff's plan is going to be but there are some
willing participants now in the Kings and the Sharks
and the Rangers that could definitely go
after a guy like Hellebuyck and the deal could be done pretty soon
but i think if a deal was going
to be done uh by then it would be done already
so it's gonna be interesting to see how this unfolds
this week for Connor Hellebuyck stay tuned subscribe
to the channel put those notifications on so you
do know when we stay up to date on that Connor
Hellebuyck situation and when he does come back
to practice it's going to be an interesting one to follow
but uh Clayton Stevenson uh keeps the
kids the Winnipeg Jets in reach yesterday
in the game against the Carolina Hurricanes I thought we
had this one we go up two to one in this one
and I was like ah it felt so good I was like oh we got
this one we got this one but then goes back to three to two
so uh uh it was it was it was a good
battle though I think the team battled well against
the reigning uh Stanley Cup champions
and just seeing us be that close to victory against this team
gives me a lot of hope going forward, to be honest with you guys.
And Stevenson, he had a big bounce-back game for us.
34 saves with a .919 save percentage.
You love to see that.
And obviously, like I said,
bouncing back off a bad .750 save percentage loss
against the Anaheim Ducks.
Wasn't really all his fault that game,
but it's great to see Stevenson come back in
against probably the top team in the league right now
and just put up good numbers.
.919 save percentage 34 stops great
to see Stevenson have a bounce back here and obviously
just looking at where we
are in the standings we're one point behind the Wild and Colorado
Avalanche right now two points behind Utah
so uh you know with the win we could potentially
be tying for fourth first in this not fourths first
in the central division here so hopefully
we can go out next game get a get a win
but look at recent times we're on a two-game skid right now
We lost to Chicago.
We lost to Carolina.
Looking to bounce back here on our next,
as we continue on the road against the Blues
and the Stars go back on the road now.
Hopefully we can get a win against the Blues,
carry it into another game against the Stars,
or is it our first game of the season against the Stars?
So hopefully we can beat them as well.
So yeah, we're looking to turn this two-game skid around
in St. Louis and take some momentum
going in against the Stars.
So hopefully we'll see that this coming week as well.
I did just want to mention before we wrap up
this video about Mario Ferraro
because it was a scary situation where he kind of skated to the bench,
went to the locker room, but he did return after evaluation
and played the continuation of the game.
So it doesn't look like we have that bad
of an injury scare on Mario Ferraro's side.
When I was watching this and I see him skating to the bench,
I was like,
oh no, not another defensive injury. We can't have this right now.
uh but he does he's fine he comes back out like like
the warrior Mario Ferraro is and he continues
that he continues in the game he has 12 hits 13 blocks
this year three takeaways only nine
giveaways which is great for Ferraro looking
at his ice time for us recently over the last five
he's averaging about 21 minutes a night
so that's great to see for Ferraro and then last night's
game he did only play 18 minutes
because he was uh off for part of this game but he did have four
blocks in this one one hit
so he was doing Mario Ferraro things last night just being uh obviously
being that guy that we need back there
on that blue line the defensive guy and i just want to
hear your guys thoughts on the Helbach situation how
do you think they should handle it a reintegrate
him if he returns b keep him separate
while seeking a trade or c decide after conversations
with the room let me know what you guys
are thinking down below if it's me i think we got
to wait and hear what these players have to say
because the players you know get together have a
meeting and they say yeah i don't want this guy back
then we're gonna have to have some
conversations around that and we're gonna have
to talk about potentially Connor Helbox being
paid to be at home i'm sure i'm not quite sure how this works
because i want to hear your guys
thoughts like do you guys know if we do pay him
while he's at home if it goes to the IR or not
i'm not completely sure on that because i've never seen
a situation like this before but
if you guys know let me know down below
in the comment section if you enjoyed leave a like
