Just on our internals,
the overall monies expended on this project have now reached
nearly four million dollars in the red.
That's in totality over the last five years. That is a
hole that no subcontractor, small business can survive.
And unfortunately my losses are on the
smaller side compared to some of my peers.
I think the goal at one point was to break even.
Now it's just to survive.
Financially, our reserves have been completely drained.
We are barely getting by right now.
Unfortunately, we're probably going to have
to lay off union workers here in the short term
so that we can regroup and lick our wounds
and hopefully live to fight another day.
I said it before, I'll say it again.
If I were looking for a good job that lets me build some security
for my family, I'd join a union.
At the Obama Foundation
and Presidential Center say they are forming a union.
The group called Obama Workers United says that employees are dealing
with heavy workloads, cutbacks to benefits and high turnover.
The Obama Foundation says it supports workers right to organize.
Is this constant war against unions,
a constant attack on working Americans by weakening worker protections,
undermining workplace safety,
gutting your ability to save for retirement,
preventing you from forming a union i mean
this is a party that says it wants to rebrand itself
they said they want to be the party of the American worker
and the party of higher wages
well that's great but think about it they oppose raising
the minimum wage they're doing everything
they can to bust unions and then they want
to claim to be the party of the American worker
Obama's own people just turned on him
not republicans not MAGA his own staff at his own
building named after himself this is kind
of like getting fired from your own birthday party now
here's the twist guys 68 workers
at the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago just announced
that they're forming a union against
the Obama Foundation Mr. pro-union himself Obama the Chicago
Sun-Times broke the story their complaints health
care costs going up time off going down no raises
no promotions promotions
are basically frozen health care costs going up somebody check on
the guy who promised that that wouldn't happen i hear he likes
his doctor oh but it gets even
better than that. A minority-owned union plumbing
company just shut down and laid off its workers
over a reported $4 million payment fight.
The man has mansions, a Netflix deal, and the plumber's
waiting on a check. Hope and change, folks.
Hope and change. The plumber hoped, nothing changed.
You guys want to visit? Bring your photo ID.
No ID, no entry. Voting for president? Ah,
ID optional. Then there's
the $40 million discrimination lawsuit against the engineering
firm and the $850 million price tag for a building
that neighbors say looks like a jail
or a trash can or a rock. Even the pet rock guy is jealous.
Meanwhile, in Richmond, Virginia,
Barack Obama Elementary School just closed indefinitely for mold
and rats. The legacy
really isn't being written anymore. It's being fumigated.
And this is all coming today as school
advocates were pushing for the 1% sales tax,
which would fund school repairs and construction
Emma is live at Barack Obama Elementary School with the details.
Emma.
Yeah, Deanna, Eric, this school here behind me is empty.
No teachers or students were here for the first day of school today.
It's closed after several failed air quality tests
and mold growth was found on laptops.
Superintendent Jason Kamras tells us they're doing everything
to make sure it's safe inside before anyone is let back in.
Today, RPS chief operations officer telling people
in the building to leave.
Families were first alerted last Wednesday
of mold growth in the basement.
RPS then conducted several air quality tests.
And after tests yesterday showed
the elevated mold only in certain areas,
teachers and parent volunteers were finally allowed
in today to set up classrooms.
But several parents inside
the building told 8 News they saw mold across the school.
Parents just heard from Superintendent Kamras in a town hall tonight.
He says the parents have two options.
One option to focus on going back to Obama,
knowing there may be elevated levels in some rooms.
Remediation results would come back this weekend.
Another option, move kids
and teachers to Clark Springs Elementary for the first quarter.
Kamras says it would be unfair for teachers to set up there,
only to be moved back to Obama.
Regardless, school is already closed for Obama students tomorrow.
In a press conference today,
Richmond Mayor Danny Avula says the city has not kept pace
with the investment needed to build and maintain schools like Obama.
Kamras, school board
and council members joined him to advocate on behalf of the sales tax
that they say will generate $47 million a year for school construction.
We want them all to be environmentally healthy and safe,
and Barack Obama is one of them.
and the commitment to make sure
that that gets corrected is the case for all of us.
The superintendent also letting us know
that no one was in the areas where testing found
those elevated mold levels.
We'll have the latest for you as soon as we get it.
Live in Richmond, Emma Goldscoff, 8 News.
Eric Trump called this a year ago
and offered to finish the thing himself.
Reagan built a masterpiece.
Obama built a bunker with a gift shop in it.
The media? Oh, if this was President Trump's library,
CNN would park a news van in the lobby.
For Obama? Crickets. So today,
you're going to get the receipts, all of them. And if you or
someone you love is on Medicare, maybe turning 65 soon,
check out Chapter, guys. They're offering
free Medicare help, real people, zero pressure.
Phone number's down below in the description.
909-563-8279. The average senior is saving about $1,100 a year.
And if you're new here,
go ahead and subscribe, guys.
And if you enjoy the show, just hit the like button.
I appreciate you. And I want to be very clear about
who's revolting here. These are not critics.
These are not protesters. These are people
who woke up one morning and they said, you know what,
you know where I want to work? The Obama Center.
That's right. The true believers, the front row,
and 68 of them, by the way, they just signed a letter saying enough.
They want a union. They
want to form a union, the Obama Workers Union.
In fact, the Chicago Sun-Times printed the whole
thing but think about that right barack obama
spent years telling america that unions protect
the little guy and his own workers had
to organize against him i said it before i'll say it again
if i were looking for a good job
that lets me build some security for my family i'd join you
that the obama foundation
and presidential centers say they are forming a union the group called
obama workers united says that employees are dealing
with heavy workloads cutbacks to benefits
and high turnover the obama foundation says it supports workers right
to organize is this
constant war against unions a constant attack
on working americans by weakening worker protections
undermining workplace safety gutting your ability
to save for retirement preventing you from forming
a union i mean this is a party that says it wants
to rebrand itself they said they want to be the
party of the american worker
and the party of higher wages well that's great but think about it
They oppose raising the minimum wage,
they're doing everything they can to bust unions,
and then they want to claim to be the party of the American worker.
This is not irony, guys.
This is a boomerang with a return address.
And the media?
Picture this story with President Trump's name on the door.
Every network, every hour,
red breaking news banners left and right, six experts in a box.
But for Obama?
A shrug, maybe, maybe the weather.
But here's the part that should really kind of make you sit up.
Read their complaints out loud.
They sound exactly like America from 2009 to 2017.
You just heard it.
If this were Trump's library,
every network would run it 24 hours a day.
But for Obama, we got crickets.
So what's in the letter, right?
Well, let's go down the list, shall we?
Healthcare costs, going up Paid time off, going down
Promotions, frozen Raises this winter, zero
Now look at that list again.
Who promised America healthcare costs would drop?
Who said the average family would save $2,500 a year?
who said, if you like your plan, you can keep your plan?
That guy. That's right, guys. The guy
whose name is on the building.
His own employees just got the Obamacare experience, up close,
personal, with a name tag.
Now, most politicians break promises to strangers. Obama broke his
promise to the people who were running his own gift shop.
Oh, and this place opened just a couple
months ago. Most jobs give you a honeymoon.
The Obama Foundation, they skipped the honeymoon and
went straight to the divorce lawyer.
So when workers complain, what did the leadership say?
vague answers nothing solid just words petty words hopeful words words
that don't cover the copay
does any of this sound familiar
so now here's where the letter gets confusing the workers say
that their workload keeps going up stretched thin
overwhelmed drowning okay fair enough guys let's
go ahead and check the crowds reports say attendance
at the Obama Presidential Center
it's coming in below projections staff projections eliminated hours cut
so let me get this straight
here. Fewer visitors, fewer workers, shorter hours,
and somehow more work? Folks, the math
doesn't add up. The math ain't mathing.
This place gets less foot traffic than a Kmart. And Kmart is
basically a ghost story now.
Something you tell your grandkids around a campfire. So which is it?
Too busy? Or too empty? Here's my guess. Both.
Because when you run things the Obama way,
you get the worst of everything at the same time.
Empty halls and burnt out staff. A giant budget
and no money for raises. This is not a museum.
This is a magic trick. And the audience just
walked out before the end. Now look,
you already know that one friend who still has a Hope poster
rolled up somewhere in their garage.
Send them this video. Don't say a word. Just don't even
add an emoji. Just send the video
and let the receipts do the talking. Now let's talk about
the people who actually built the thing.
Not Obama, obviously. The plumbers. A small minority
owned union plumbing company in Chicago.
The exact kind of business that the Obama Foundation
bragged about hiring press releases ribbon cuttings big smiles
for the cameras then came
the bill about four million dollars the company says
the money didn't come guys so they suspended
all operations and laid off their workers now let
that sink in a small business was crushed
while building a monument to hope just on our
internals the overall monies expended on this
project have now reached nearly four
million dollars in the red that's in
totality over the last five years
that is a hole that no subcontractor small
business can survive
and unfortunately my losses are on the smaller side
compared to some of my peers I think
the goal at one point was to break even now
it's just to survive financially
our reserves have been completely drained we
We are barely getting by right now.
Unfortunately, we're probably going to have
to lay off union workers here in the short term
so that we can regroup and lick our wounds
and hopefully live to fight another day.
That's where we're at.
For me, I know for a fact it's been an emotional roller coaster,
and I'm just, I'm cooked emotionally.
And I have to fight for my company and for my people,
and that's what I'm doing today.
I believe my peers,
just through internal conversations with them, are deeper in the
but I think also my peers have a little bit more pressure
on them to maybe keep things more in
house. And I completely understand that.
But as for me and my company, I'm at the end of my rope
and I see no other choice than to have to tell my story.
And unfortunately, this is not to
embarrass anybody, but this is just to make sure
that the truth gets told out here of what has
happened here to the companies that poured their heart
and soul into getting this job complete
and operational. We were made to cut all
the insulation off of the piping for the storm system
and then forced to retest areas that did not need to be tested.
In turn, Adamson had to go back and
redo work that caused a tremendous financial strain
on the company to the tune of nearly
$900,000. That hit alone is something very hard to recover from,
especially on a job this size.
Meanwhile, Barack Obama, he's got book deals,
a beach estate in Martha's Vineyard,
more bathrooms than that plumber has trucks left.
Look, somebody please explain how a guy
with that many toilets can't pay the man who installed them.
So here's a fair question.
should there be a lien on the mansions?
And a word of advice for the Obama Center,
when you stiff your plumber, good luck with those pipes.
That building is going to need
to gurgle for 20 years, okay?
You want to see the Obama Center? Great. Bring your photo ID.
No ID, no entry. Turned away at the door. Sorry, friends.
Now, hold that thought just for a second,
right? Because Barack Obama's party has spent
years telling America that asking for ID at
the voting booth is unfair, mean, it's practically un-American.
So let's compare that, shall we?
So picking the next president of the United States,
eh, who needs paperwork, right? Looking
at a display about Barack Obama, papers please.
The voting booth gets the honor system. The gift
shop gets a bouncer. So you'll get checked harder walking
into the Obama Center than walking into a
Las Vegas nightclub. And at least the nightclub has people inside.
Yeah, those attacks are just
a load of crap i mean the bottom line is we made it easy to vote
but hard to cheat and for all the
hype and hysteria back then wisconsin's
a prime example each of the presidential elections since
i signed photo identification to vote
into law has actually had a higher turnout so for all the
hysteria out there it actually made it easier
to vote if you're a legitimate american citizen
who's qualified to vote in that jurisdiction
but it made it harder to cheat and oh by the way it's
not just New York City. If you go into Chicago to the Obama Center,
they actually require photo ID
to prove that you get the in-state discount.
So even Barack Obama's place, as ugly as it is
outside, still requires photo ID. It only makes sense.
Now, I've got a simple tip if you forget
your wallet. Just tell them that you're there to vote.
They'll wave you right on in, maybe even
hand you a free tote bag.
This is the whole philosophy in one front door. Rules for you,
a velvet rope for them. Look, we're not showing pictures today,
so let me go ahead and paint it
for you, okay? Picture this. Picture a gray concrete wall.
Now, matter of fact, picture a
gray concrete block, tall, flat, barely any windows,
sitting in Jackson Park like somebody
dropped it from space and forgot to come back and get it.
Price tag, $850 million for this thing.
And Barack Obama, he posted a photo of it proudly,
like a dad hanging macaroni art on the
refrigerator. So folks in Chicago, they were asked what it looks like.
Fair question, right?
You heard a few already. Here's the full list.
A jail, a phone booth, a trash can, a rock,
a gray mountain, and the time travel box from Doctor Who.
Yeah, yeah. Not one person said
inspiring. Not one. In fact, I'd add two more.
A bunker. How about a tombstone? Now, most presidents
build monuments. This one built ruins. Brand new ruins.
Now, that takes talent. How do you build
something brand new to make it look ancient.
$850 million and the nicest thing that anybody
could say was a mountain? So now it's your turn, guys.
Drop it in the comments down below.
What does it look like to you? Keep it clean, mostly.
So a building this beautiful must have
been built perfectly, right? Well,
the black-owned engineering firm that was hired to help design the
Obama Center got hit with a $40 million lawsuit.
The charge? Racial discrimination at the Obama
Center. So if a TV writer pitched that,
they would get fired for being lazy. Reports say that there
were structural problems, fixes made quietly behind the scenes.
Nobody says built to last
quite like patching it before the paint dries.
Over budget, behind schedule, buried in lawsuits,
and guess who helped pay for it? You did.
The state of Illinois covered road work around the
site. The city of Chicago handed over public parkland
in Jackson Park. Trees came down,
park groups sued. So here's a question nobody on TV wants to ask.
Where did all the extra money go?
Now, some people are asking whether foundation money went
to political groups. Nobody's proven
it, but it's fair to ask.
Because when a bill keeps growing, somebody's wallet usually is too.
So let's zoom all the way out.
Big promises, giant price tag, cost overruns, lawsuits,
small businesses getting stiffed, workers ignored,
excuses on repeat, plumbers not getting paid.
is that a library or is this eight years?
Same pattern, big stage. Chicago's South Side was
promised a comeback. Jobs, energy, life.
What did he get? A gray tower, an ID check,
and a plumber with no paycheck.
And remember, this man got a Nobel Peace Prize after barely
unpacking. He was nominated just days into his first term.
Talk about getting paid in advance.
The plumbers should be so lucky.
So if Obama hits the campaign trail this fall,
here's a simple request. Somebody, anybody, ask him about the school.
Ask him about the plumber.
Ask him about the rats.
Because this is what their management looks like. Remember that in
November, folks, he once told America, you didn't build that.
Turns out, he really didn't.
Now, folks, the receipts are in. Do you know somebody
who still believes the hype? Go ahead
and send them this. And if you enjoyed the show,
hit the like button on the way out. It's totally
free, unlike that building.
Today, a plumber built a monument and got stiffed. Workers were
promised cheap health care and they got a bill.
Taxpayers handed over a park and they got a gray
box. Moral of the story, if you don't watch your own wallet,
somebody else will, usually with a
ribbon cutting. The Ron Yates Report newsletter
helps you see what's coming for your money,
for your health care, and for your vote,
especially with November around the corner.
It's totally free, no union dues,
no hidden fees, and nobody getting stiffed.
