Hi, everyone. First tonight at 10,
a fall warm spell with temperatures in the 80s today
across the D.C. region. And it's only going
to get hotter from here. How hot? Well, Mike Thomas
has an idea. He's here with the first check
of the forecast. Yeah, we can be ready. Record
territory tomorrow, if you can believe it.
We're talking about temps that could get in a few
neighborhoods at or above 90 degrees.
D.C. could make a run for it, but we favor kind of more
upper 80s here in town.
But yeah, even upper 80s would be a record high here in D.C. The
standing records 87 and that's what we're forecasting
for tomorrow afternoon we hit 82
today that's 11 degrees above this seasonal average
was a cool start we won't have that
tomorrow morning in fact we'll be quite the mild start uh
to your day to your Wednesday across the
DC area we take a live look outside
this evening nothing really happening in terms of sky conditions
in fact mostly clear across the area 71 degrees
at Reagan National right now Dulles sitting at 70
BWI, Thurgood Marshall sitting at 71.
Some of these areas were in the lower 60s by this time last night.
So it gives you an idea of humidity.
If you step outside, it's not the summertime levels,
but you certainly notice it.
And that's going to keep temperatures from falling back quite
as quickly here during the overnight hours.
There's your satellite radar.
I'm not tracking much on it again.
A little bit of cloud cover going down through portions
of southern Maryland, the northern neck of Virginia.
That's it.
Higher, thinner clouds off to the north and west.
Clearer skies will take over as the night goes on.
and we should start tomorrow sunny and bright.
Front half of the day, again, dry, sunshine.
We heat up quick.
87 would tie the record.
We have guidance as high as 89 here in Washington,
so we'll see if we don't break it.
It has stood since 1975 here in Washington.
All three airports actually have records from 1975.
During the late afternoon and evening hours,
some showers and even some thunderstorms could come across.
One or two of those could be on the strong side,
and then we kind of rollercoaster a bit through the end of the week
and into the weekend look at Saturday's high just 58 why
is that happening we'll give you the
breakdown coming up in just
a few minutes stick around guys mike thanks this just in a virginia

New tonight, Prince George's County Police want
your help finding a stolen French bulldog.
Fox 5's Shamari Stone is in Camp Springs with the story.
Show.
Jim and Angie, tonight, people who pump gas here at the station,
folks who come here to go inside and get coffee, right?
They're thinking to themselves, why would someone stoop so low
to take this cute, adorable little dog?
Let's take a look at him.
Take a look.
Here he is.
This is Brain, a two-year-old Merle French bulldog.
Prince George's County police tell us a thief stole Brain
from inside a car at the Royal Farms station
on the 5200 block of Auth Road last Thursday.
Two witnesses, who didn't want to talk on camera,
tell me Brain's owner parked at the station,
went inside, and that's when the thief stole him.
Brain has a protruding left eardrum
because of a prior medical condition.
While police continue to be on the lookout for the little fella,
customers say the suspect should be ashamed.
I honestly can't believe that.
That's petty, first of all, and it's inhumane.
They're probably going to sell it.
That's what I'm thinking, but it's messed up.
I would be heartbroken. My baby, your pet is like, that's your family.
Somebody stole my dog, we fighting.
According to Direct Line Pet Insurance,
French Bulldogs are one of the most stolen dogs
because they have a resale value of thousands of dollars.

A Calvert County man who allegedly confessed to
killing his sister is now being held without bond.
Police say that Troy Elliott Herod was standing in
his driveway on Harvey Road just after five in the morning yesterday
and told officers, quote,
I shot someone, end quote.
Now inside, deputies found Herod's 55-year-old sister Alva lying in
a bed with multiple gunshot wounds.
Herod now faces murder charges. The search continues for
a person of interest in a deadly stabbing in Northwest.
This happened back in September.
Officers found Osman Benia stabbed to death along 13th Street,
but investigators believe the stabbing happened on Park Road.
This video you're watching, newly released,
shows a man wearing sunglasses, a baseball cap, and a face mask,
carrying what appears to be a bag,
and police believe he may be connected to the case.
An update for you tonight.
A Maryland man will spend three years behind bars
for robbing a U.S. postal worker in Alexandria.
According to court documents,
Jason Antonio Robinson and another person approached that carrier
while she was delivering
mail in September of last year.
They kept their hands in their waistbands to make it look like
they were carrying guns. They got away with mail,
postal service keys and equipment, along with the
carrier's phone, driver's license and cash app card.
A mother and daughter being held without

New pilot programs are launching
in Montgomery County and Baltimore City
to stop juveniles from turning roadways into danger zones.
The state's Department
of Juvenile Services will direct target multi-agency interventions
involving at-risk kids.
Now, it will also involve their families.
social services and law enforcement.
Bottom line, thank you, Governor. I'm very happy what
we're doing here. I think that we have classic events,
cases that people in this committee have
been deeply concerned about that are addressed by this.
And I think it will make it better for
those cases. We just we needed those programs yesterday,
but now we're going to build them
today. I salute that. But we need them very, very quickly.
Governor Moore says the goal here is to
provide the critical boundaries
and support young people need to thrive before life-threatening
crashes happen. The heads of the University of Maryland
and Howard University condemning
a racist graphic posted by the UMD club tennis team.
HU's club team sharing the graphic which
was sent to other tennis clubs ahead of the tournament
in College Park. Now we have actually
blurred out part of it which depicted white supremacist imagery.
The UMD club tennis team
forfeited their matches because of that post.
University police are now investigating the
incident. A federal judge halting President Trump's renovation
of East Potomac Golf Links
after the administration tore down hundreds of trees.
The ruling, now in effect through October
26th, follows an initial 24-hour order.
Judge Ana Reyes also ruled the Trump administration
must provide written notice three days
in advance before making any more modifications to the
course. It all comes after hundreds of trees
were cut down over the weekend without any notice.
The president has said he wants to convert the public course
into what he calls a championship-level golf facility.
After months of repairs and controversy,
the water once again flowing into the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.
The refilling process started yesterday.
It comes after crews installed a new blue coating earlier this year,
but algae problems and a botched installation forced officials
to drain it and take on the sealant project.
After the work was completed, the pool started to peel,
leading to allegations, unfounded allegations, of vandalism.
I have no comparison. I don't know how it looked before, so.
But when it fills up, maybe it'll look better.
I hope it looks better than it did the last time.
You think it's time money well spent?
No. No, I don't.
They should have not touched it to begin with, is how I feel.
But it's beautiful.
Federal prosecutors later conceded it was that botched installation
and not vandalism that led to the prolonged closure.
The renovation has cost at least $15 million,
well above the president's original estimates
of just about $1 to $2 million.
Federal judge temporarily blocks the USDA's major reorganization plan
that would have permanently closed
the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center.
That ruling stops the transfer of employees
and protects an estimated 1,000 jobs in Prince George's County.
Also blocks the Trump administration from moving
U.S. Forest Service headquarters out of D.C.
The judge said the USDA was likely violating
congressional funding restrictions.
And tonight, a funding controversy in Prince George's County.
more than seven million dollars
in grant money now being clawed back the funds were originally
routed through a California non-profit that was led
by someone with close ties to county council
chair Crystal Oridea County Executive Aisha Braveboy
and Oridea issued a joint letter today
demanding the money be returned to the county immediately we
are not saying that anything was
illegal or criminal what we're saying is that it
was probably inappropriate because we have
entities right here in our county that can do the same,
if not better work, and that the money can
stay here. County Executive Braveboy
also requesting an independent investigation now into county
grants distributed to the Edward Charles Foundation
and community on the front lines.
Pope Leo has lung cancer.
The Vatican revealed that surgeons removed the lower lobe of the Pope's
right lung today and confirmed he has adenocarcinoma.
New tests to confirm the diagnosis
had been suspected from earlier testing.
Oncologists say even though the nodule is cancerous,
they're optimistic about his prognosis
since it was removed early.
When we see a small nodule in the lungs
and it ends up being a cancer,
it often can be a blessing in disguise
to remove that cancer before it has a chance
to grow or to spread.
More biopsy results are expected to come in tomorrow.
The Pope will remain in the hospital for the time being.
