You're getting an idea as to just how many deaths have
been caused by several storms over the last
several days and we're also seeing more of the damage left behind.
Cody Matz joins us with a
closer look on this and there's quite a bit.
Good morning. Good morning and the storms we're
specifically talking about are the tropical system.
So Hurricane Simon continues to hang
close to the western coast of Mexico.
You see it here while newly formed tropical storm Trudy is
forecast to strengthen into a major hurricane later on this week.
Here's a look at both storms
as they kind of roll off the coast,
thankfully, of the west coast of Mexico.
Now, the death toll from Hurricane Simon
and the remnants of Tropical Storm Rachel
that pushed into the western U.S. has now reached six.
Five others remain missing.
Heavy rain from the storms triggering flash
flooding along Mexico's Pacific coast.
This is video of the Outer Bands hitting parts of California as well.
Now, this year, the Pacific has already had 22 named storms,
nine of them becoming major hurricanes.
Now, the death toll associated with Hurricane Isaias continues to rise.
That number stands at eight,
six of those in Florida and two in Alabama.
This after a large swath of 70-plus mile-an-hour wind gusts
from the panhandle of Florida all the way into central Alabama.
Amazingly, though, nearly 95 percent
of power outages have now been restored.
Crews are optimistic that remaining areas
will have power before the weekend.
Well, tornadoes caused by Isa Ias left a trail of damage in Georgia
and the Carolinas nearly 24 hours after rolling on shore.
The National Weather Service confirming
at least 18 tornadoes in total so far.
One of the hardest hit areas was the Fort Bragg area in North Carolina.
I was looking out the front door
and I looked out over the barn across the road
and I saw branches spinning in the air and you could hear it coming.
It kind of sounded like a loud, kind of like a train or a lot of cars.
This all used to be windows, and whenever the tornado came through,
it busted in all the windows, and I guess just the strength
of the wind, it kind of blew through the wall.
Now, the estimated cost of damage in North Carolina is so far unknown.
Thankfully, no serious injuries have been reported
from any of the tornadoes in those three states.
Now, as of right now, the eastern Pacific hurricane season
is still going, Trudy becoming
a major hurricane quite likely later on this week.
as of right now it stands the eastern pacific stands
as the second most active hurricane season
on record those records date back to the late 1800s
and it's still going so it's um it's been
an interesting year yeah a little worrisome
for how long this is thankfully both of those storms
still forecast to stay off the coast
and i don't think even the remnants will end up in the u.s so
that's at least something all right we know you'll
continue watching it all for us indeed thank you
Cody all right
