As we continue, I want to check in now on a story that's
been developing here throughout the noon and afternoon hours.
Our Eric Lenn, photojournalist,
is out checking on the latest regarding a raid, I understand.
So if you can hear me, Eric, are you able to join and share what you're
seeing and the area that you're at as you witnessed this earlier today?
On West Fayetteville Road in the College Park area,
just literally a stone's throw south of I-285 in College Park.
And our news desk, led by Tanya Mendoza and Sasha Stevens,
received a tip during the 11 o'clock hour this morning
about some police activity going on at this British Petroleum
Station across the street from us, from I-M right now.
And when I got here, it wasn't your usual crime scene in a sense.
It was IRS investigative law enforcement at this establishment.
and during the time I was here they were taking boxes
and documents out of the
store and they left
a little before 2 p.m. but that was pretty much of what I
saw during that my time here there
was an employee here I don't know if he was
an owner an employee or a manager they
weren't really talking to him much but
this person was standing outside
and occasionally he would not if they asked
him something but they didn't really
have any long conversations with him but
That's what I basically have witnessed here this afternoon.
Eric, thank you for the update.
One more time, just for those who are unfamiliar with this area,
can you give the road and the area where you're at again?
I didn't hear it right off the top,
so I just want to ask you one more time.
This is the College Park area, West Fayetteville Road,
literally not even an eighth of a block south of 285,
just south of the airport.
In fact, you can see a Delta plane taking off right now,
so it's a very, very busy area.
And there was a lot of crime scene tape,
obviously, around this establishment.
So I think people were assuming it was another kind of incident,
not an IRS investigation.
Makes sense.
Eric, thanks so much for the update.
I know our assignment desk is digging into this and working
to find out more information as to the nature of that tip
and, of course, what you saw with the boxes
and various things coming out.
So we'll keep you updated.
Eric, thank you so much.
