All right, get ready for Thursday Night Lights, Fox 4's Game of the Week. Pitts Highland Park versus Carrollton Creekview here to talk about the Game of the Week. Chris Mycoskie. Chris, tell us about this matchup. Well, when we selected the schedule back in the summertime, we were looking at a meeting between two defending district champions. Both Highland Park and Creekview won their respective districts in 2025. five then UIL realignment comes along and puts these two together so very intriguing from that perspective throughout this season though Highland Park has continued to do what it does it comes in very strong whereas Creekview has struggled they are one in five overall but the key part here is they are one and one in district play so the Mustangs still very much in the playoff hunt for this season. District play is all that matters, right? You've told me that multiple times when we talk. Highland Park always seems to be in the conversation. Is it no different this year as well? Absolutely. Randy Allen put together a very tough non-district schedule, so that's why the losses are on the record. He wanted to make sure that his team faced the toughest possible opponents before they got into district play so his players could look around and say, hey we've already played our best possible foes so right now it's all about playing up to our standard and if we take care of that we're not going to have any trouble in district probably not the first few rounds of the playoffs either the scots will be highly favored until they get down the line until those deep rounds chris what high school team or teams have surprised you this season so far well i tell you arlington martin has been a bit of a surprise only because they were put in a district with Aledo and I think a lot of people expected the Bearcats to come in and dominate immediately. First season in 6A for the Bearcats but the Warriors came up and surprised them and right now Martin undefeated and looking just like they did for about a two decade span winning their district year in year out. Past few years have been difficult. Rare times the Warriors have not made the playoffs but it looks like they're going to win that district And on Friday, the Warriors play Bowie, who has won that district over the past couple of seasons, trying to make sure that they're ahead of the Volunteers when the standings are done at the end of the year. Chris, sometimes, you know, some teams are just like overly, you know, talented or larger than the other teams. Being a little transparent here, I'm a mentor with Big Brothers and Big Sisters. My little plays middle linebacker for MacArthur High School. I went to their game against Trinity, and man, Trinity whooped them. Now, my kid got a couple tackles, but Trinity whooped them. What districts are you seeing as having some really strong teams across the board in their district? Well, that's a good one right there is the district that Trinity is in with Haltom and South Grand Prairie plus Eldred Bell. I was looking kind of down the line because we select our week 10 and week 11 broadcasts a little bit later. The rest of the year is predetermined, but we want a game that's going to decide a district championship or a playoff spot. Trinity and Bell, before last week, I would have said that's going to determine that district championship, but it's gotten a little bit muddled at this point. So any one of those four teams that I mentioned could win that title. There are a few others that are really intriguing, but on some, obviously, the cream has risen to the top already. We're going to announce our Week 10 selection tomorrow night, so I won't give that away just yet. But one of those districts where that championship is going to come down to the final two weeks. Yeah, that Trinity game was tough, and I walked in the stands, of course, to the visitor's side. They were like, you're here for MacArthur? No shade to MacArthur.
