Yeah, I like a little Rehoboth Beach.
I'm not saying that's not what I'm not.
Okay. Yeah, I can live with it too. It is what it is.
I'll ask a question. I'll pay it.
It doesn't bother me when they talk back. I can live with it.
What
up,
my
friends,
and
welcome
back
to
another
episode
of
NFC
Beast.
I, of course, am your host, Chad Ricardo,
and we've got an esteemed panel of guests joining us again here today.
Of course, in New York, it's the Lou Albanese in the building.
Down there in Dallas, we've got Ethan speaking for the Cowboys.
And in Philadelphia, the one and only Breeland is here as a Breeland.
Breeland, you look so sad today, Breeland,
but we will see whether we can cheer you up.
What a week that it was in the NFC East.
This is actually a week in which no teams
in the NFC East walked away with the victory,
which is hard to do when two of those teams played each other.
So let's begin this conversation in Washington.
Washington of course we know that the game a 27
to 27 tie between the Washington Commanders and
the New York Giants the question is when is a tie
a loss it is when you are the Washington
Commanders so Breland I'm going to come to you
your team had just gotten over a devastating loss
in their own regard what did that loss say about
the Washington Commanders first of all I just
want to start off by saying I thought I was going to come in here
and just get roasted today but
guess what it is a really bad week in this division
and indicative of how bad this division
is in my opinion when all four play two of them play each other
and there's nobody that wins okay
so it was just a tough week for the division
and in total but for Washington I mean you had the
game right there and what happened sure what did you just space out
with like, was it the final play
there I don't really understand what occurred I mean
that's unbelievable um and I mean Micah
Parsons is like Jayden Daniels cost my guy Dan Quinn
the game I think it was a group effort here
um but yeah I mean this this team is a mess
and just that absolute mental lapse there
in overtime that's that is unacceptable Chad sure
and to Micah Parsons dear Micah number one you
should be concerned about yourself maybe you should
be getting back onto the field because
you were there was a trade package given up
for you a bountiful uh trade package given up and
you're hardly on the field so we worry about getting back
on the field and helping the uh
those Green Bay Packers but what I will say about
this loss is I do believe that this is a a tie
this is a tie that hurts this team far more than
in the standings I believe that this is the type
of game that can cause a fracture in and I'm
not saying that it is thus far but it is the type of
a game that can cause a fracture
that can cause some trust issues to begin to arise I do want to
give Dan Quinn all the credit in the world
because he stood up directly after that game and then
every time that he has hit a mic since then
and he has taken full blame full accountability for
it says that it starts top down
however I'm gonna give a majority of the blame to one Jayden Daniels
in that play i know this is your third year bro
but you came in after playing five years in college
you know clock management better than
that the one thing you cannot do in that situation
is take a sack and that is what Jayden Daniels did
so micah you should worry about you but for
those here in washington dc i think that maybe
for the first time they're looking at Jayden Daniels
with a bit of a negative lens we'll flip the switch
and go over to the other side because
obviously the New York Giants walked away with the tie as well.
But Lou, this felt like a bit
of a win for the Giants
because they snatched that tie out of the jaws of defeat there. So
what did the way that the Giants played on Sunday say about New York?
Well, I liked about the
Giants play was they were down.
They looked like they were out and they came back again for the
second straight week. And that's a great sign for the Giants.
They made a lot of mistakes.
Scadaboo cannot fumble in that situation.
The kicker misses three kicks.
Can we stop with this garbage with the kicks?
We never have a kicker in New York.
It's amazing to me.
But again, and this is, again, I always point to John Harbaugh,
another game where they didn't quit.
They stayed in it.
Winston hit some big touchdown passes to get us to overtime.
They were in the game, and then they got a gift.
And it was a gift.
Jaden Daniels wrapped it up.
What a great gift.
I really want to, and you mentioned Jameis a moment.
ago but i i really want to like pin down
on that there Jameis looked absolutely horrible in that
first half and so much so that i think that fans from all over uh
who root for new york were
clamoring for JJ McCarthy which we'll talk about
that a little bit later on but the way that Jameis
winston played in that second half you would talk about
a Jameis Winston experience that was
everything that New York Giants fans could hope
for to see for the rest of the season and beyond
down to Jameis I agree but you just never know I mean
that fourth quarter he was spectacular and
the first and second quarter he was horrendous
and you never know what you're gonna get with
this guy he's like the Forrest Gump
of the NFC East you just never know the box score was there
it is good Jameis bad Jameis uh okay Jameis turnover
Jameis touchdown Jameis take your choice I have no
idea what he's gonna be so I mean look they got
a tie they're still in first place and we'll see
what happens against New Orleans
and New York Giants now a game and a half up in the NFC East
I think that few if any figured that they would
be there now a team surprisingly that has lost
three games in a row that's right Breland it
is time to come to you right now the Philadelphia
Eagles with their third consecutive loss
the question is are the Eagles cooked I mean they
have suffered these multiple defeats
and they're struggling to get it done in multiple facets
Talk to me about your birds.
So I'm going to say I've covered the NFL for 11 seasons now,
and I've been with three different teams,
and I have never in my life covered a team that has an injury issue
the way that this Eagles team does.
That being said, and we'll get to that in a hot minute,
the way that they lost that game against Jacksonville
is just completely unacceptable.
I mean, you want to talk about clock management.
First of all, you have no running back, so I do understand that.
You got a practice squad guy as RB1 right now.
But I still don't understand why you don't
run some clock off before Jake Elliott kicks.
And then after, why don't you kick the ball in the back of the end?
I mean, it just made no sense.
And it was a devastating loss for this team,
especially when your defense played lights out the entire time.
It was a real disappointing showing
in London against Jacksonville.
But that being said, I think my main concern is the injury issue.
I mean, we talk about in the NFL the next man up mentality.
There are no men that are next up at this point.
Damian Pierce was on the practice squad a week ago,
and now he is your starting running back
because Saquon Barkley not practicing right now.
Tank Bigsby is on injured reserve.
And Will Shipley is now out for a few weeks.
I mean, this is something I've never quite seen before.
The offensive line is absolutely in shambles.
Now, good thing today,
Landon Dickerson was at practice and was in pads.
So that's an excellent sign for this line.
But my goodness, I just I don't know how you really get
a ton done with this offense looking the way that it does.
However, they had the game right there,
even with the offense looking like it does.
And they still can close it out.
I don't know. I don't know, guys.
And despite three consecutive losses
with the way that the NFC East is going,
this thing is still wide open.
Lou, again, we've been waiting to have
these conversations for three years, Lou Albanese,
in which we can all poke fun at Breland Moore here.
She spoke about some questionable decisions that were made.
Nick Sirianni, not exactly your favorite person.
What was your take on that game?
Oh, it was like the greatest ending ever
to watch Nick Sirianni just blow a game in London.
This was like a dream come true.
Oh, he's such a bad coach.
I know he's got a Super Bowl, and I know he's going to get –
but even the fans in Philly are going to start to feel like,
hey, little Nick might not be the golden boy anymore.
He's not a good coach.
He doesn't handle the team properly.
I'm sorry.
I know they have a lot of injuries.
I don't disagree with that.
Everyone has injuries.
The Eagles have been devastated.
The 49ers are the most injured team in the history of the NFL
in the last five years, and they're always in the race.
There is something wrong with Nick.
He's not a leader.
He's lucky he had strong offensive and defense coordinator of the year.
They won the Super Bowl.
Jalen Hurts does not look like the same quarterback.
And he better watch out because I think, at least from New York,
I think Nick can lose that team real fast.
Woo, boy, Breland.
We're going to give you a moment to get back in there
and answer some of those allegations that Lou is hurling from up there
in New York in just a moment.
NFC Beats just getting started.
We roll on after this.
Back
to
NFC
Beast.
It's now time to play a game of more or less.
This conversation is going to begin in New York again.
Lou, the Giants, 3-1-1, but one of the wrinkles that we saw last week
for the first time was J.J. McCarthy packages.
J.J. came in and ran RPOs.
He came in, he threw a screen pass there too.
I don't know that he had a net total positive yards out there.
So, Lou, do you want to see more
or less J.J. McCarthy packages this week?
I don't know.
I'm going to say less.
I want less because, I mean, he did absolutely nothing in those plays.
And, you know, Jonathan Vilma was doing the game for Fox,
and he made a point.
This was after he called him Jackson Dart, by the way.
So his offense was kind of like Matt Nagy,
and they made an offense for Jackson Dart,
and now they're trying to run these same plays.
They ran for Jackson Dart.
I would think that's so confusing for the offensive line, the offense.
Stop overthinking.
Either Winston's your quarterback or McCarthy's your quarterback.
You can't have this movement of two.
It's ridiculous.
This isn't Cordell Stewart going out and coming in for these things.
It never works.
It never works.
Stay with Winston until he completely implodes,
which you know is coming.
I got to agree with you, bro.
I mean, I think to double down on that,
what you saw in a couple of those plays is that
when they went to bring Jameis back in,
the offense was number one out of sync, but they
also got a penalty on one of those plays
with attempting to rotate the two back in.
Breeland, is there ever a situation,
I know years ago when Mike Vick was in Philly that
you all did a little bit of things like this.
Is there ever a situation where you want
to see two quarterbacks running in and out?
No, not usually.
I will.
I'll agree with Lou.
They need consistency back there, and I think you just ride with Jameis
until the wheels come off,
which probably will be right around the corner here.
Luckily, they have a really great matchup.
This Saints defense is really bad.
I mean, remember,
they made Kyler Murray look like a qualified QB one here.
So hopefully they have a little bit of an easier time
because they have one of the worst defenses in the league this week.
So we'll see how they do this week.
But, yeah, I don't like the dual quarterback situation.
Just go with one.
I'm going to go with the bold proclamation here.
And Breeland and Lou, neither of you might agree with me,
but I believe in Jameis Winston.
I believe in Jameis Winston.
I think he's going to lead this team to 10 wins this season.
Put me on that Jameis Winston bandwagon,
even though I might be one of the few people who are on it.
We'll see.
All right, Breeland, more or less coming to you now.
Very few.
Very few, says Lou.
Coming to you now, Breeland,
more or less commitment to that Eagles rushing attack.
You talked about it down to the practice squad.
Leader of the squad, does the team need to still keep hammering away?
We don't have running backs to run the ball.
How are we going to commit to the run game
when we don't have a running back?
We've got Damian Pierce and Carson Steele.
Again, two practice squad guys.
that is your running back committee right now
that's your running back room this is we we need
we need some sort of experimental treatment
or something to start healing some of these guys
but yeah I don't really know what to do with the Eagles offense
when you have no offense however
I will say our tight end group is starting
to be on I don't know what this does for anybody but
The tight end group is up here.
We've got Dallas Goedert, Grant Calcaterra, Eli Stowers.
They're all practicing.
Dallas obviously returned to play in London.
So there's that.
I don't know.
That's all I got.
Zach Ertz made his way out there in London
as well for the Philadelphia Eagles.
So, Lou, I think that for Philadelphia Eagles fans, the question is,
is Jalen Hurts good enough as a dropback quarterback to go out there
and win the game if the Eagles don't stay committed,
if they don't have a rushing attack.
You know, it's scary because he's not running the ball at all,
and that's really his strength.
He creates plays when he's running the ball.
I don't know.
He's not a drop-back quarterback.
He had a great Super Bowl, but to be fair,
considering the amount of points they
put up against the Chiefs that game,
I think you and I could have probably scored two or three touchdowns.
But overall, he does things with his legs,
and he needs to have that back.
He's not running the ball.
He's looking, he seems unsure, the little bit that I've seen of him.
And I'm not sure he's a drop-back quarterback.
He's got to go back to playing the way he
was playing when they were winning.
Effectively running and passing in the mixture of the two
and getting the play action and everything else that he does.
That's when he's at his best.
All right, we're going to let you all...
No, his quarterback pressure rate is the highest in the league,
and the blitz is the second.
He has no line, he has no protection, he can't run.
more of a reason
for him to run
but more of the reason to run
because if they're coming
at you, run, don't stand
there, run
they should be doing more plays for him to move
no, but they should be creating
more plays for him, they should be making
more back and forth, they seem to
like taking the ball away from him
more of a stagnant offense
I don't see every play, I'm not going to lie to you
I'm watching the Giants and for the first time
but I'm actually not turning the TV off.
This is the first year in like 10.
The bottom line is the offense seems stale.
It just seems stale to me.
Breeland, you get the last word.
I mean, we don't have anyone on offense, period.
And the average age of the offensive line at this point is 12
because they're all like inexperienced players.
We are so cooked.
We need guys to get healthy.
Well, I think everyone else on this panel would be super pleased
that the Philadelphia Eagles continue to spiral here
and open up the NFC East for everyone else.
Speaking of spiraling, I want to let you all behind the curtain here
just a little bit.
Our Dallas correspondent, Ethan Herrera,
we're unable to go to him right now,
but we're going to do this for you, Ethan.
So the more or less for Dallas as they
are bringing in a special assistant
for the defensive coordinator, Christian Parker here.
Christian Parker moving up to the booth to call plays moving forward.
So, do we want more or less of bringing in veteran help
for struggling defensive coordinator Breeland?
Less, obviously.
I want Christian Parker to continue to do his job.
There we go.
Just the way he's been doing it.
There we go.
It's atrocious down there.
Which he's not doing.
It's great.
Keep it going.
I love to see it.
Which is a disaster.
There you go.
The Eagles don't have an offense.
Dallas doesn't have a defense.
Lou, your thoughts?
You know, obviously, he must be an eagle plant.
That's why he went down to Dallas.
That's it.
I'm going to destroy his defense for you.
Don't worry.
No matter how much you have, of all your problems,
I'm going to take care of Dallas.
We're going to ruin Jerry's world.
We're going to implode it.
He is an eagle plant because there's
no other reason I can imagine this guy running the defense.
It makes no sense.
I just hope for his sake and his career this isn't actually
the real Christian Parker because this is so bad.
Listen, I am getting word in my IFB here,
and I hear that we have Ethan.
Ethan is ready to join the conversation.
Ethan, your thoughts on your embarrassing team
and defensive coordinator Parker.
All right, first off, you think I was going to let you all sit there
and talk all this mess about the Cowboys, you know,
just right in front of me this whole time?
Not a chance.
All right, Christian Parker's got some work to do.
Dallas has some work to do.
Peden's a great pickup.
He was an NFC North troubadour.
You know, all over the place, Packers,
Bears, Vikings, under Brian Flores.
This guy has been in the league for a long time.
He's going to help.
Christian Parker has the tools in terms of the talent on the field.
He's got to put it together, give him a little bit of time.
First year at D.C., depends on what Jerry Jones wants to do.
I know he's always saying go all in.
He's always wanting to go all in.
But, you know, it's going to take a little time.
I'm not saying they're going to win the Super Bowl, but you know what?
I have them winning the East now.
Just because hearing all you guys talk about it,
without me, they're going to come back.
Dak's going to play fantastic this weekend,
this Sunday night, and I think that they'll come back.
I think this defense is going to find it.
That's actually the most confidence that Ethan has shown
in the Cowboys all season long, so we'll give you credit there.
We will end our More or Less segment here in Washington, D.C.,
where last week we posed the question
of whether Dan Quinn's seat was getting hot.
I got to tell you that after what we saw on Sunday,
it has to be on fire as of right now.
So the question for myself and all of you,
is it more or less patient for the Dan Quinn era in Washington?
I'm actually going to start here
and tell you that there needs to be more patience for Dan Quinn.
Now, I do know, I know that this team has won,
I believe, five games out of the last 17, I think.
Actually, three games, three victories in the last 17.
Jaden Daniels has only completed six games ever since
that NFC Championship run,
but I think that it's for those reasons.
Dan Quinn is a leader of men,
but his starting quarterback has not been able to stay on the field.
I'm not saying that he deserves another three, four years,
but he does deserve the rest of this year
to see if he can turn this around
And it began at least one year after that.
lose
When that clock ticked down to zero,
that was the end of the line for Mr. Quinn.
That one, I think, kind of sealed it.
He's kind of done right now.
It went tick, tick, tick.
I'm watching this game in New York.
I'm saying, am I watching this right?
That clock is ticking down.
Does he know that the clock is ticking down?
And then it took a long time for Jane to realize, oh, my God,
there may not be enough time to get up and spike the ball.
So, Quinn, I think that was the nail in the coffin.
I don't see him surviving that failure.
It kind of reminds me of the Joe Pisarcik fumble that was for that coach
and the butt fumble here in New York.
You could put that right in there as bonehead play number three.
All right, Ethan, you haven't been able to get in here,
so weigh in.
More or less time for Dan Quinn.
I think less time than more for sure.
It's going to be sooner than later if they can get it.
I think he deserves a lot of grace, though,
because of the injuries.
I think that there's some plays being made by the players on the field
that haven't reflected exactly how good Dan Quinn is.
Fantastic defensive coordinator.
We saw it a little bit down here in Dallas.
But he's a great football mind.
I think that they've got to make something happen,
and coaches are the first to go.
So, realistically, I think Dan Quinn's seat is hot.
All right.
I still believe that the Washington
Commanders can potentially turn this around
and the season was somewhere between seven to nine victories.
It's going to be tough, but we will see how that goes.
All right, let's get to our games of the week,
and we will begin with the Breland and those Philadelphia Eagles.
Again, three consecutive losses.
Bree taking on Carolina this weekend.
What happened?
I don't know who's playing.
I don't even know.
I got to see this injury report.
I don't know.
I'm going to say I just can't fathom this Eagles team.
Since we've had this show, have they lost four in a row?
I don't think.
I'm going to go like 23-21 Eagles.
And if it doesn't happen, guys, I don't know anymore.
Breland is almost at her wit's end again.
She sees how the rest of us have felt.
Yeah.
Breland sees how the rest of us have felt throughout
the years we've been doing this show.
So, Ethan, Dallas, your Cowboys need a victory as well.
Got to get that taste out of their mouths.
Got Green Bay on the schedule.
What happens?
I mean, this is going to be two high-powered offenses,
both secondaries, you know, not very good.
Green Bay, a little bit better than the Cowboys, but everybody is.
I think this is going to be one
of those games like last year, 40-40 tie.
Heck, they might tie again and be another tie in the NFC East.
You know, I think that the worst part about this season is obviously
all of us are having some trouble you know we're lucky
this isn't the we're hoping i was hoping
this would be the NFC West but we're not nearly
as good they're not even putting them in the same
conversation as everything that our teams
are doing right now aside from lou you know one loss
in the first five weeks good for the giants
but uh i know i think i think it's going to be a
shootout and i think
if they don't get things together christian parker and now peden uh
green bay and jordan love are going
to torch them breland going to give you a chance to throw some
rocks from your glass house there what do you see
from this dallas team taking on green bay um
yeah so green bay's coming off of a 31 point game
and uh jordan love has had 310 or more yards in
three of their last five games
so they can out shoot this dallas offense so what is the problem
here it's the dallas defense there's no way i'm gonna go
with green bay all right that's what i
like to hear lou your new york giants a chance to move to four one
and one unbelievable you got
the saints can Jameis coach harbaugh
and this squad actually pull this off i think they will
i actually think they're gonna win
this week same scenario they'll struggle in the first half they'll
win the second half Jameis will be all over the place
but he's still the king of the NFC East
and Jameis will be the guy who leads us to another win
and then we squeak it in for another one
Ethan, you hear it.
The Giants going to 4-1-1.
I think your Cowboys are going to lose as well.
Can the Giants open up this huge lead in the NFC East?
You know, I heard you earlier, Chad.
I'm with you.
I think I believe in Jameis Winston.
I mean, the guy is definitely a wild card,
but I mean, he's been in the league for so long.
He threw in a 30-30 season one year.
He's thrown 30 touchdowns in a single season before
with a bad Tampa Bay team.
Now he's got a slightly better New York Giant team.
You know what?
I actually believe they're going to win.
I think it's not even going to be close.
How about that?
Wow.
I think the New York Giants win by 10 points
as well as they send the Saints
marching back down to New Orleans.
Our final game, Washington headed to the West Coast to take on the
San Francisco 49ers, 1-3 and 1 Washington needing a win.
