Morning, Bob and our viewers live look right now,
looking over the city, beautiful city lights just before sunrise.
And it's a pretty cool start to the morning before the winds blow in.
And we are tracking those winds.
That's going to be the theme of today and through Saturday.
Strong Santa Ana winds will continue
to build across Southern California.
You can see the wind arrows going offshore already.
And with the offshore flow, it's also going to heat us up.
So in addition to the wind alerts, we also have the heat
advisories in place for some of our interior locations
and all the way out to the coast.
High wind warnings we've got you covered here
with winds coming out of the northeast 25 to 35
miles an hour. Those are sustained winds and gusts can reach up to 55 plus.
Possibility of downed trees,
power lines that could cause power outages so be mindful of that.
Today it begins and it'll stay
in place through Saturday with red flag conditions
bringing critical fire weather across some of our
local mountain communities, interior valleys,
and downwind of the Santa Monica Mountains as well.
Area of high pressure in conjunction with some support
with this area of low pressure,
the two combined and the tightening pressure gradients
is what's helping to quickly rush those winds offshore,
leading to some heat and pushing into the weekend.
It will continue to be warm, but we've got some changes.
Believe it or not, sometime late Tuesday into Wednesday,
area of low pressure is gonna drop further south
And perhaps that wraparound flow
and that circulation could bring in some shower activity.
We're going to call a 40% chance of rain as it stands currently.
Taking a look at our future gusts, we've got winds.
Look at Ontario at 38 miles an hour later this afternoon.
And those highlighted areas are going
to be the vulnerable spots due to those Santa Ana conditions.
Downwind of the Santa Ana Mountains as well through the Cajon Pass.
We're looking at wind speeds, again, 20, 30-plus miles an hour.
by Saturday. Winds will slowly start to decrease just a tad,
but we are still in that advisory
threshold. And look at Sunday. Winds drop pretty rapidly.
That's some good news on the way, but
we've just got to get through.
Again, the heat alerts for the coast. Areas like Huntington Beach
could be seeing highs in the 80s and 90s today.
Last day of beach hazard statements, so that's
some good news for our coastal areas.
Heat advisories for LA and Orange County with a lot
sunshine temperatures in our valleys 92
with the high wind warnings again in place
