Jason's show called Open, take one.
So we had that woman, what was her name?
Christy?
I think it was Christy.
Christy.
She likes the show though.
She likes the show.
She thinks our coffee table decor is tacky.
So photographer Eric has laid out a selection of alternatives.
My J.R. Ewing collector's bank from 1981,
a nymph riding a crystal dolphin.
Nymph?
I go for the nymph.
I'm not even going to show the rest.
I go for nymph.
What's that one over there, man?
What's the one?
The Ewok.
That's, Jeff's fine.
Zoom in on that, Eric, as we put roll the open over it.
Roll the open.
Here we go.
Where are we going?
Well,
how
y'all
doing?
Welcome to the show.
First up today, holy crap, pumpkin on the loose.
Aaron, settle down.
I know.
Remember, y'all, y'all, remember that scene in Indiana Jones
when he was running from the big boulder?
Yeah.
Yeah, well, check out what happened
at a pumpkin farm in North Carolina a few days ago.
Strong winds.
Yeah, yeah, look at that.
Freed a giant inflatable pumpkin last weekend,
and it started tumbling down a road.
Look at that.
One person tried to stop it, but eventually, look at it.
They got some help,
and they deflated the big gourd before it caused any damage.
Yeah, look at that.
Oh, God.
uh north carolina said we wanted
a fall festival we got raiders of the lost gourd that's right
you like that i did that one for you i'm trying
to be extra funny today steve zahn's here that's
right yeah okay what else uh i don't know why
am i doing that today yeah i'll blame it on steve
let's holster them what holster them yeah there
we go okay right there thank you what else is
going on oh we got to talk about
this uh forget about date nights uh at movies date nights at
dinner the newest thing bringing couples
together pole dancing they're back
no no oh i shouldn't do
that with that no yeah yeah here's the uh here's
the headline from the New York Post couples swear
by pole dancing to strengthen bonds
and keep the spark alive yeah they say oh oh wow okay yeah
hello generic pole dancing woman video
yeah they say it gives them quality time
and they give it a great exercise as well yeah
couples pole dancing classes are now popping up
uh in several cities a few couples admit
to even installing poles in their homes
yeah which really changes the meaning of open concept that's right yeah
by the way by the way we actually know a couple
who does this jeff do we have a picture go ahead
and put that up what do we have yeah there we
go holy crap fallon and i've worked out since
yesterday yeah right not in my dreams ladies
and gentlemen there's no polite way to go from that
story to introducing
her without getting
in trouble with HR
so i'll just say fallon hello
beautiful hi how you doing good have you
and colin ever done a pole dancing class together
i don't think people in montana want to hear about
that yeah yeah uh you know wait a minute i did do
remember this jeff it'll never air in the early
no no audience i've never talked about this i thank
you fallon you didn't even know that you asked this great question
so we this seven years ago
seven years ago seven years ago
so that would have been what season three of our show we were a local
show back then and we did a uh we went we went to a pole dancing class
and yeah and who is we
who it was me and our friend miss shannon miss shannon
is a very popular legendary radio
personality here and a dear friend of mine
so shannon found this class of course she did
and we went and she was filling in because i think shane was gone
or i forgot who was with
us at that point anyway um and we went to the class
and executive producer jeff reviewed the
footage and it was um jeff made the decision
that there wasn't an ounce of footage that could ever
see the light of day they were naked they
were the women that were training us were basically
basically naked you know what i mean and then
and then you know so and then i was a little heavier
at the time, and I just looked like a big potato
kind of sliding down.
I looked like a big
russet sliding down a pole
Like a state fair food?
I looked like a state... Potato on a stick?
I looked like a... Yeah, I looked like a
melting state fair food. You know what I mean?
Just sliding down.
Yeah. I'm sure that... Can I see
the footage?
I don't know if we... Do we have it
somewhere, Eric?
Eric, all look has
it saved
Eric has it in our archives or something
No, I don't know
I was bummed because I was excited to see, because we laughed so hard
Yeah.
Because the poor educator,
the poor pole trainer, I did the best I could,
but I could only pull myself about an inch off the ground.
And then I just slid down.
It's hard.
Have you ever done it?
No, but I don't need to try.
Okay, I liken it to, and I know it's different,
like the rope and gym class.
I couldn't even get a millimeter off the ground on that thing.
So there's no way I'm climbing a slippery pole.
You know what I mean?
There's just no chance.
It's not happening.
Because Falun and I both grew up in Indiana.
And I don't know about you, where all of you grew up.
And in our PE classes, we had to climb a rope in junior high.
And it was horrible.
It was absolutely.
What was that about?
What was that proving?
Why?
Why did they make me do that?
When was I using that in life?
Yeah.
Can I ask the gym teachers of America, why you got to do that?
Why didn't we do that in the 80s and 90s?
I don't know if kids do it now, but what was that proving?
I don't know.
I look back at some of the weird things we did,
and I mean, I liked it, but I also hated
because it really did just set you apart from the talented
and athletic people in the
class.
Oh, I waited until, we only had to take a year of P.E. in high school,
and I waited until my junior year,
and I'm in there, and I thought I was doing right.
I went to Rogers High School in Michigan City,
Indiana, and I, you know, I mean, look at me.
I wasn't athletic then, and I'm, anyway, and so I got in there,
and this class was filled with nothing but football players.
and then my PE teacher was the coach so I mean you know
so every day the little song in my head
went something like this one of these boys ain't like
the others you know what I mean
and they yeah it is I won't I won't say I won't say his name
because bless his heart he passed
away many many years ago
but the PE teacher was not the nicest to me you know when it was a
different era i have forgiven him because
and don't worry this isn't a sad story there's a
happy ending the dude the dude was not are you well
no i mean the happy ending i mean it's not
that he's dead but okay happy
ending isn't his death the happy
ending came where um they may have
and again this is a different era
but true story this was they made they played dodgeball and my
friend Jim and I were the dodge they made me take off my shirt
and the football players threw the
balls at us uh and we had to run back and forth
and and a true story I mean a very true story
fast forward this is the good part uh fast forward I
was working at Red Lobster and I was a host
and uh this this gym teacher we'll just call him Mr. P.E. uh he walked
in he was older at this
point a little older and he looks at me
and I go uh two for smoking or non-smoking that's what you
did back in the 90s and and I sat down I sat him down
and I got an instant reaction like I got I
still have it today when I when I'm in a mall
and I see a group of teenage boys come at me I tense
up and I'm 52 years old but anyway he came back out in the lobby
and I was alone and he looks at
me and he goes can I have a word with you
and I'm like oh lord have mercy are you gonna make me take
off my red lobster uniform yeah anyway have him throw cheddar biscuits
at me yeah anyway and he
started to tear up and he apologized to me oh he apologized to me
and he said that he had a relative
come out to him and it made him change
his perspective on kids that were different and
whatever way they're different and he apologized
and gave me a hug oh and yeah he was a good man
He's a good man.
Good.
Yeah.
Today on the show, actors Steve Zahn and Rick Gomez
are joining me in studio to talk about their new docuseries.
But when we come back, the hot dish.
We'll be right back.
Mixed in a casserole dish.
That's right.
It's the hot dish.
Coming up in just a little bit,
our first look at the new season of The Gilded Age.
Then we say goodbye to Guillermo.
And Falun says hello to the love of your life.
then our special guests live in studio actors Steve Zahn
and Rick Gomez talk about their new
project You
belong here when
the Jason Show
continues it's
time for the hot
dish I wanted
to scare Erin anyway let's get
to some hot topics first up tighten the corset Falun and get out
the tuxedo Jason the Gilded Age is back we're getting
we're getting our first look at
season four of the guilty pleasure drama from HBO
and this looks juicier than ever boom
soon I shall entertain the president
of the United States I must be cunning and that means
rallying the people that I trust it's become too much
so you won't pay for anything more I'll
follow my own instincts the same instincts that planned
to replace my curtains they don't even make
tassels like that anymore you're quite
the gentleman these days soon none of us will be
good enough for him do you think you won't be good enough
are you allowing enough time for your
own life what if this is my life what i meant
to do this must be a dignified affair she seems to
think this is her wedding
but it's peggy's time we can't always have what we want and before it
takes us all down with it this would be considered
an act of war we have no choice this is war
this situation requires me to take a leave
of my manners Steve Garanisky National Treasure
He didn't show the husband once.
Where is he at?
Which one?
The new money husband.
Oh, he was in there.
He was at the very beginning of the trailer.
They're going through a little turmoil.
I know.
That's why I was like, is he still gone?
Is he still staying in the city?
Yeah, I think he's still staying in it.
Yeah.
Audience, trust me when I say this.
This is from the dude that did Downton Abbey.
I love Downton Abbey.
The first two seasons, okay, a little sleepy.
A little sleepy.
And they didn't quite know where they were going.
Season three happened.
Bada boom, bada bing, bada boom.
they they did it man it was like it was hyperdrive
and now this and let me and i know a little bit of
intel uh i i i knew one of the cast members
and and and it's not that fancy anyway and i uh and
i told you this they gave me some dish
and said that show was almost canceled because it's expensive
to make on HBO the the ratings weren't good in season
and they almost killed it and season three
happened and now it's one of the biggest hits
for HBO yeah it was so good very that season yeah
really saved it I think Carrie probably helped too
because she had that big moment with White
Lotus yes Carrie Coon probably brought a few more eyes to it
but then on top of that it was just a
much better season and then
that Ben Ayers right there they call him clock twink uh he's a he was
in what does that mean that he made uh he developed like
a little oh yeah and he's rich now yes and
And they call him Clock Twink?
Yeah.
And then he was in Death of a Salesman with Nathan Lane.
So he's real hot now, both figuratively and actually.
And now he's in it.
And then Meryl Streep's daughter.
Oh, yes.
This is what's fascinating.
Meryl Streep's daughter was the main focus of season one.
Snoozeville.
And so they kind of pushed her to the side.
And she's like a side character now.
Well, her character was boring.
Not her fault as an actress.
The character itself was just kind of bland.
Yeah.
It's like eating a plain saltine.
You know what I mean?
You're right.
Give me a little cheese on that.
Yeah, spread some peanut butter on that boy.
Yeah, a little pimento spread.
Season four premieres November 1st over there on HBO.
Let's move on.
Well, he brought joy to millions on Dancing with the Stars.
And sadly, like we told you yesterday,
Jimmy's sidekick Guillermo was sent packing this week.
Yeah, Guillermo returned to his day job last night,
and Jimmy shared the reaction to his
elimination.
Watch this.
Hundreds, if not thousands, of Guillermo's fans were devastated.
The couple going home is Guillermo.
I totally,
I wish
I could
smash the
TV screen
from the
inside out
right now.
You had everybody rooting for you.
Obviously, not real.
I don't know.
I mean, I do wonder what the ratings are going to be like.
yeah i mean people are people love that show regardless
but i mean it's real hot right now
they still i mean there are really talented people left
so i think people will still too
i don't think it was held only on guillermo's back
for that show no but i'm sure like the
voting went up and the the finale is going to be great
because you know if i'm the producer
i'm bringing guillermo back for the season finale i wonder
if he'll do any because usually with the
tour now they split up this actual stars
and each one will do a few stops i wonder if guillermo will
do a few stops and jimmy predicted
this an audience i want this jimmy said that guillermo
is going to get so many offers now
from shows i want i want guillermo on the traders
i'm gonna manifest it i'm gonna manifest it i want guillermo
on i want him in scotland
in that castle yeah next it's the latest romance hitting prime video
so you know fallon's watching
it uh fallon made it a point to watch it
on the first day it started streaming yeah thank you
Thank you, I'm here for you, I say that that is a commitment
to her craft it is, yeah, here's a look at the new
movie called Love of Your Life, he was the love of your life
but who's to say he can only have one
I feel like I'm living again, what if we acknowledge
that there actually is something here
I can't, what do you mean? Oh look
at the cast, a green that guy
was Green Lantern anyway
Margaret Qualley stars as a young woman overcoming heartache in Europe
Falun, okay so this isn't giving anything away
because this is also in the trailer, so Margaret
Qualley's character, she marries this guy
who's like everyone loves him, he's just like everyone
adores him and he dies, and so I will say yeah I know I won't share how
and stuff because that
that part of it was shocking, um and then she just literally leaves
her life, she doesn't talk to a
single person, she does, she throws her phone away
and goes to Europe anyway, so I think Margaret
Qualley is such a phenomenal actress, the first she's
um Andy McDowell's daughter, a lot of people
don't realize that, but she um the first time I saw her was in The Maid
or whatever on Netflix and it
was such a heart-wrenching show
and anyway this is the movie if you're looking for a cry this
weekend, like this is not going to be an uplifter for you
but it really talks about like grief and
the things you go through and it's hard
and and the if she can do a relationship later and the
acting and the story all around
was very good would definitely recommend it okay because
this yeah and trust this woman right here
because she watches all this prime crap she watches all
this this right anything they put
on that conveyor belt you just take it all yeah i do i even i even
watch these shows that are from other countries
that have, like, the dub over,
you know what I mean? And my husband will walk in
and be like, why? And then he just leaves the room.
So, yeah. I mean, Jake's a smart
man. He is, that's right.
Would I like it? Oh, no.
I don't think that's your genre
of movie. It's not. I mean,
but I like a rom-com.
I like romance. That's not a rom-com.
No, I mean, no. It's not a rom-com.
No, I know there's death in it, but I can handle
that. It's very
minimal funny it's like there's not a lot of funny to it okay
so i don't know maybe i don't think
that's yours no i'll pass on that one sticking
with love next up love is blind is back season 11
with boston singles is streaming now on netflix
and i haven't seen this something really awkward
happened in the pods let's look
at this i'm really excited to talk to you tomorrow sarah
have a good night thank you you too
not the people i expected dude yeah my bottom two i
talk to really yeah how did it go great
which isn't that kind of crazy yeah need to close the door
they're so stupid they keep the door open
who was it john i overheard him saying i was one of his
bottom two the door to the pod was open
and i overheard john saying that he um had spoken to
someone who he wasn't that interested
in but then someone asked him how it went and he said good oh
Oh, that's Sarah finding out that a guy she's interested
in was basically trash-talking her after leaving
the pod door accidentally open.
I mean, come on, man.
Awkward.
Yeah, close the door.
You're miked and camera'd and make sure before you bust on someone,
they're not in the room.
I mean, you make sure I'm gone before you bust on me.
I try to.
Yeah.
I try to.
Yeah.
And I always double-check before I send a nasty text, you know?
you know is he in this chain yeah exactly
but oof that's brutal i do well and the first episode all
already featured in engagement
but the woman left the show left the show after getting the ring
like didn't just be like i'm gonna stick around she like packed
her bags and left the hampton
in girl it's like okay because you know how they
do the thing you get engaged without seeing each
other and then there's the reveal
and it's like the most cringy but the best part of the show
because you can immediately see on their face
if they're like oh no you know and she did she was
like no she left she wasn't at all physically attracted
to him not at all no because that is i
again love is not blind um no yeah clearly that is my least
and best part of that show
when they come from that scrim
and i just like you know people always say that about me that i
can't hide anything on my face no colin always tells me fix
my face yeah i would be horrible
on that show i mean they would netflix would zoom right
into me oh you'd be their dream person no
i'm married i know but i'm saying no no that would
be a surprise reveal i mean yeah but no if i wasn't
and i was on Love Is Blind gay version i would you know
then i would be you know i'm leaving the
Hojo you know i'm leaving the Hampton Inn i'm getting out
of here yeah the Hojo Howard Johnson's
you're young you don't know Howard Johnson
when we were young i thought it was a guy's name on the
show Howard Johnson was a very popular family destination in the 80s
and the 70s they had
orange roofs and like 31 flavors uh yeah it
was like a flavors of what ice cream oh you forgot
Oh I didn't say that yeah yeah 31
They had flavors of ice cream, and yeah.
That was a selling point for a hotel chain?
Yes.
They had a restaurant connected to every hotel
Okay.
And then you would always go get one of your favorite,
like Superman ice cream was always at the Howard Johnson.
Yeah.
I really missed out, you know?
I really did.
Sorry you didn't have those in southern Indiana
That's right, yeah
We had Motel 8.
Thanks a lot.
We're going to take a break
We'll be right back.
Back in a moment.
Welcome
back.
You know our next guests today from their roles in TV shows,
including The White Lotus, Band of Brothers, and Silo.
And films like, and I'm leading with this because it's my favorite
Reality Bites and Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
Steve Zahn and Rick Gomez are now stepping behind the camera.
They have a new documentary series about
the food culture of the great state of Kentucky.
And it's called You Belong Here
Take a look.
If I'm a chef in Kentucky,
what am I supposed to be expressing about Kentucky?
That's what I want the show to be.
I want people to see my own quest about, is it a cuisine of corn?
What does corn mean to Kentucky?
So some of it's ingredient based. But in Kentucky too
when you're in eastern Kentucky
the thing that they say to you every single time you
go out the door and whenever you say goodbye is be careful, be careful.
It's like this real deep genuine care
and concern for people and I want that to come through.
And I wanna introduce everybody to the folks I know here
who are doing such amazing work,
who are unsung who are unseen beautiful
the the eight-part docuseries celebrates the food the
people and uh community of the great state
of Kentucky, audience give it up for Steve Zahn and
Ringo, you're
behind there, how
are you gonna sit
yeah, you guys like
this man kick
your feet up
but we just, it doesn't even matter, i don't want
to do the same seating thing, this is an opposite
the same, like we're going in different directions
but we're doing the same, if you want to move feel
free, you can sit on the damn floor if you want, i don't care
no, we're good, uh we we have lovely
beverages for you now, uh we had
a woman yesterday complained about our tablescape, uh so we uh we
gave it away and now we have two new fake plants just
for you guys, yeah yeah, you went succulent
you went succulent and we have a nymph riding
a crystal dolphin, uh right there too, right there
yeah yeah, right there, that's important, i like
that is, that nice, yeah there's always something
to talk about, um let me tell you this, uh there's
a lot of excitement for you guys to be here, uh
First of all, Falun, Falun's husband is a very busy man.
He literally, I think he quit his job to be here today.
Yeah, yeah.
Oh, yeah, right.
Yeah, she was telling us.
Literally.
I think he, like.
She said you wrote down questions.
Yeah.
Do you have questions?
Jake has questions.
We're going to play Oprah with him later.
Oh, I love it.
Yeah, that's good.
And look, he's never, I mean,
his wife has been on the show for two years.
He's never watched the show until today.
Never come to the show.
Never wanted to be on the show.
And then our floor director, Carter, had a vacation day,
gave it back to be here for you two.
I'm just here
because I'm paid.
No, I'm kidding.
This, all jokes aside, I love the topic.
I love the state of Kentucky.
My dad's folks are all, my whole side of the family, I'm Southern.
They're all from Cumberland, Kentucky.
Good people.
Just a great state.
I grew up, I went to many family reunions.
I learned how to make biscuits
and gravy there. How did, how did the germ of the idea for this
docuseries start? It really, it really came out
of nowhere. Um, Wita is a friend of mine, we live in the
same small town, it's like 1500 people, that's
the chef everybody, yeah, Chef Wita, and and um and 1500
people, it's a small town farming community
and she's an, she's an icon in Kentucky, like she's
she's the food grandma North Star, yeah yeah
and she she had this grant and she came to us and
she was like, hey I've got this a little amount
of money to make this show, nine episodes, do you
guys want to do it? And we were like, what
a cooking show? Yeah, we didn't really know, we didn't really
know what to do, but we said yeah let's do it
and it, and it, it really evolved, it was tiny tiny
production yeah right
and um we just followed her and she was brilliant and the show kind of
made itself yeah what rick what is it about the culture uh you know i'm
also embroiled in the
restaurant industry and i you talk about
a fascinating ecosystem i mean you go in any
restaurant and you can make a duck you know
but what is it specifically about this ecosystem and
this chef and this space in kentucky that made it
so compelling you know what i think it's actually
more about her perspective
on that space, because I think we share
a lot of similar spaces. I think
America has a lot of
spaces that are
adjacent to each other.
We share similar spots.
But Wida is an
unbelievable chef. She's also a national
debate champion. And so
when she goes into
a college,
she won all these debate
competitions. So when she goes into
with space she kind of leads with questions
that are just really interesting and you wind up you
wind up you you learn so much by just following her around
and and and listening to the questions
that she asks then i think from there it's it's
um kentucky's just rich with history and we we
learn so much about how you know barbecue culture turns into how people
then congregate and like
a burgoo um is a thing that you do what is a burgoo
a burgoo is like a giant stew that that
people made with kind of animals that you just kind
of it's like it's wild game basically it
goes into a pot yeah
but back in the day they just chucked a bunch of meat in a pot and yeah
but then they got together and eat together
and communities were built around this stew so it's
like this thing you do and it was the catalyst
for coming together right the catalyst for coming
It's the one thing that, you know, we all, is food,
brings us all together, no matter what, right?
And it's a cliche that's not a cliche.
It's the truth.
It's the truth.
And then also the power of a chef.
Like, I didn't realize this until doing this show.
And the James Beard Foundation really cultivates
this in young chefs around the country.
But the power of the chef,
because they create a table so many different people come to.
We all do different things.
Steve and I make TV and film, and somebody else might be in politics,
or somebody else might be in real estate development.
And when you put all those people at a table,
you can really kind of start to change things in your community.
More with Rick and Steve, and more people are going
to take days off from their job when we return.
Everybody is going to take a day off.
Your unique need.
Steve, you've lived in Kentucky for,
what, 20 years now?
22.
what what what again i it's
a beautiful country again uh great people what got you there initially
um we we lived on my wife
and i lived on a farm in jersey and then we had kids
and then we were like hey let's move
he's from jersey dude no you said it man it's over yeah it's over
so we um my wife was from
kentucky she grew up in lexington
and when we started thinking about moving somewhere else and
and now everyone moved away like in our business they live
in other places in the world other than
la and new york um so anyway we started
the trend steve yeah we were ahead of people like what are
you crazy like no it's great yeah you ever
do you have a you have a giant farm it's not giant
but it's a farm well it's probably giant
to us buddy it's pretty good i mean i'm sure it's not
like a two-anchor lot, Steve.
No, no, no.
There's plenty to do.
It's a subdivision.
What animals do you have?
I have horses and goats.
Why did you have to look
at your shirt?
Yeah, why are you looking
at your shirt?
You looked at my shirt.
Because I thought maybe
there was goat fur on it.
I looked at your shirt
because I was looking
at your glasses.
Do I have goat fur?
Yeah, yeah.
Oh, these things?
Right there, yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
It's like sheep glasses.
No.
Selfishly, I want to,
I would, I eventually would like,
I would like to own
a little farm.
Yeah, it's great.
But it's so I want to know
what kind of animals you have.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
This is a surprise to the staff.
I love all this.
Everybody's going to win.
Actually, you meet my horses in episode one.
That's right.
I have retired thoroughbreds.
That's right.
Their names?
Mojo.
I got Uncle Mojo.
And then a horse that was named Peace Achieved,
which turned into Piece of Cheese,
which then turned into Cheese,
and now is Cheese,
you guys you guys started a production company
together Rick, when you guys did it because you
know, you hear just like you know everyone moves out
of everyone moves out to out of LA also you here
every star in the world goes I think I'm going
to start a production company what was the intent
when you guys started one what did you truly
when you wanted to do it what was the intent what'd
you want to do with it honestly it was just about friendship
and and then and now now we actually do
make things but at first it was really just about being buddies
because we don't golf and we don't
and we were like should we go to Vegas and golf
when neither of us know how to golf so like well
let's go make something so we literally started
at a buddy's place we made a thing called um face
deals that just played on YouTube it's just for us
so dumb but but what Steve what what Steve would
do is he put he'd put stuff in a box
and i wouldn't know what's in the box and he just takes
stuff from his house and then we bring
to the studio we put it on a lazy Susan and it just
rotates, and then we try to sell it to nobody
because nobody's watching us
It's a fake QVC show
It was the dumber version of Rick and Steve
which is actually a lot like Rick and Steve, actually
We did 40 of them. This is the first thing
40 of them in one day, and the rule was
we're going to shoot it
We're going to put an intro and outro
to each one, and no matter what we
shoot, it has to go on YouTube.
No matter what you do. No matter what we do.
And you did 40 of them? We did 40 of them.
So you can actually go on YouTube
and find face deals
And it has like 17 views
No one has seen it
It's been there for years
We've never done anything with it
It was just wackier stuff that you would try to sell
Like a nymph riding a crystal dolphin
We would absolutely sell that
We could do it right now
Do it right now
What is this? A nymph riding a dolphin?
A crystal dolphin, Steve
What would you charge somebody for that?
I would charge $17.74
$17.74
for the nymph on the dolphin calling into the show
but since then we've made then we went we've made
some shorts um then we made a feature she dances
which she dances which was at the twin cities film
festival last year and you can watch it
and it's really good yeah that's a really good movie it's
on peacock right now and yeah yeah they're just right there oh yeah
and also before we go and we
got to do a dumb commercial
but i mean this i'm not trying to be goofy because i have this i'm
blessed i i do i have a creative endeavor this thing here yeah
and i do it with legit friends
yeah there's nothing better oh my god no it's true oh
my god no no that's why we did it it's
why we did it yeah yeah
and it's in our film everybody in that it involved behind the scenes
on screen they're all friends yeah yeah it's
the best thing it's more with steve and rick when we
come back back in a moment everyone yeah
that's it it's we all welcome back to the show everyone
welcome back Falun thank you for having me
um welcome back now as I said at the beginning
let's just get right to because I don't want to run out of time
because we run out of time and
then he literally is here just not for you
or me never yeah he's not here for us he's here for
these two explain what we're doing Falun my husband
is obsessed with a television show called
Silo I've watched it thank you yeah actually
actively watched him belittle his son recently
because he wasn't locked in
to the season finale enough
for them to discuss.
Locked in.
Locked in.
So he is here today
with questions for you.
Amazing.
Joining us from the audience
is Jake Falun's husband, Jake.
This is an honor.
Can you guys hear me okay?
Yeah, totally.
I hope my voice
doesn't clear my nose
on an average day.
So first thing,
I promised my daughter
I would say hi.
So hi, Olive,
if she's watching there.
Okay, anyway, come on.
Let's go.
My first question is,
I'm very curious.
I thought the season three finale was one
of the best episodes of TV that I've seen.
I would love to know the vibe at the first table read.
Was the cast as shocked as some of the viewers were?
Quality questions.
Just kind of seeing the way that the story evolved there.
That's a really great question.
It is a great question.
And I'm going to tell you the truth.
The show is so big that we actually can't
get everybody together to do a table read.
It's impossible.
Really?
Yeah, because our cast is.
We have dozens and dozens of people that have the stories.
We have like three studios.
Yeah, we have three different studios, and we have different
people shooting different things on different days,
different units doing different stuff.
It's a machine. It's huge.
So, you know, I don't want to give too much away
if people haven't gotten to the finale yet,
but it's coming to a head now, and in season four,
you're going to start to see some other things happen.
But for three, that was, come on, I didn't mean to say anything.
you're gonna um but but for three um you you you have
a lot of um siloing that happens so we don't
we don't see each other we don't see each other a lot yeah
so so so there isn't that opportunity
to do that to produce it yeah i i will tell you this though
when i read season three when i read
it because they sent all the scripts to the house
and you get to read everything um i couldn't
believe i you know it was a i i was ripping through pages really quick
and going like where
am i where am i no no i would say
this is really good jake you get one more question one more
question sorry buddy yeah on on that note
are you guys fans of the genre uh like that that sci-fi
genre this is for you in general well no no i i i'm
not a sci-fi guy even though i've done a
couple sci-fi things but they're all basically like planet
of the Apes I was in and played a
monkey but that was like that's sci-fi
but it's real it's real do you notice how you just threw
I played a monkey.
That's something to be proud of.
I'm more proud of that than anything
I've done.
It was painful, but
I love this show because
it's not otherworldly. It's our world.
And it's really character-driven
and I love my character
in this, so it was fun
to do. Give it up for Jake
and his questions.
Love it, Jake. Nice job, Jake.
Amazing. He killed it.
Why don't we just have Jake fill
when we're not here for heaven's sake perfect
right i know more vacation yeah right exactly
okay steve since jake got to uh uh ask a very
a question about one of his favorites i'm gonna
ask a very uh favorite question my favorite
of yours isn't your monkey performance okay uh mine
is Reality Bites because you and i are the same age
and your movie no joke oh here it is okay
first tell me about shooting this scene
with this was this a practical okay this was a real
Yeah, that's a real location in the valley
and I threw my neck out, I did, I swear to God I threw
my neck out. Well look at him, yeah look at that scene
the same way, yeah I mean I did, the next day I
couldn't move, you could only seriously I swear
to God, you threw your neck out? I did, I'm never
gonna watch that the same way now. Oh okay, give me
a great, you gave me one on the break if that's
the one you pick, go ahead, give me a great behind
this, I love a good behind the scenes story, you
know what, you know, it was my first movie
so I, I went there with, I brought my dog, I've shot the
movie, I'm so excited, I went home
and I was poorer than I was when I went there, which was
just blew my brain, I was like I'm in a movie, how am I poorer
I had, I had Matchbox, um not Matchbox, um the race
car sets, the electric Hot Wheels, no no
on the track.
Yeah, whatever.
You know, race car, you plug it in.
And so
Ethan and I would go to my hotel, we'd lay
on the bed and we'd play.
So great.
Wow. And we'd play wiffle ball.
Wow, that's
entertainment when you have no money.
Give it up for Steve and Rick, everybody.
