AI GeneratedThe Milwaukee Brewers hold a 3-0 lead in the NLCS after defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-2 in Game 3. Driven by a historic rookie pitching performance and a clutch seventh-inning offensive surge, the Brewers are now on the verge of securing their second World Series appearance in franchise history.
The Brewers just shocked the league, taking
a 3-0 series lead over the reigning champion Los Angeles Dodgers.
And Milwaukee now sits one win away
from the franchise's second World Series appearance ever,
and possibly a chance at the first World Series ring ever.
Ever, ever, ever is all you can say.
I'm almost speechless, but I also have
so much to talk about that I could talk about for an hour.
So let's talk about this Game 3,
where the Brewers took a 3-0 series lead.
They go into Los Angeles.
They score on the very first pitch of the game.
They blow that lead.
They then get that lead back and don't give it back once more.
A 6-2 win, Milwaukee Brewers baseball doing what they do best
in just making it very uncomfortable for the other teams.
The Brewers are finding different ways to do it this postseason.
Three homers we saw in this contest.
Just that's not how Brewers baseball does it.
That's how they're doing it in this game,
and that's what makes this team so fun,
so unpredictable, and so hard to beat.
I want to start off by talking with the pitchers in this one.
It's easy to look at the offense in the six runs,
but this Dodgers offense was only held to two runs of their own.
And why was that?
Well, Robert Gasser had a huge start for the Milwaukee Brewers.
Five innings of work, did strike out three batters,
gave up zero earned runs, only three hits, and only one walk.
72 pitches to get through five innings is what you love to see.
There were some moments when, you know, maybe a couple runners were on,
but, you know, Bobby Gasser did not take the foot off the gas at all.
Bobby Diesel, whatever they call him,
there's a lot of nicknames for him.
He pitched absolutely incredible.
Some neat stats that I saw on Robert Gasser.
I'll flash one of these up right here.
This is from Off The Stats.
It says, Robert Gasser of the Brewers
is the first rookie in MLB history
with a scoreless start in the postseason against
the defending champions.
And that is just, if you talk about
the biggest stage Robert Gasser could be on,
it's a chance to give your team a 3-0 lead in the NLCS
against the reigning champions on the road in their ballpark.
Robert Gasser looked like a true veteran pitcher.
He did not look like he just entered the league a couple years ago.
And he has been the unsung hero for the Brewers.
outside of Gasser well after he was done they brought in Abner Uribe
who I finally is probably
the wrong term but finally had a bad outing
because he's just been that good the Dodgers
were able to get to him Uribe only lasted a third
of an inning gave up two runs the Brewers were now
facing a 2-1 deficit but what does this team
this season do best they come back and they play for
each other everyone has each other's backs
the Brewers were able to come back in this one
offensively but the pitching shut it down after
those two runs Uribe gave up nothing else was
given up DL Hall will be the underrated MVP
of this postseason run for the Milwaukee Brewers
he has been absolutely unreal two
and a third innings pitch two strikeouts no earned runs only
one hit no walks 22 strikes out
of 28 pitches again good enough for a zero ERA because he gave
up nothing DL Hall's middle relief is something
that I think people need to take away from this
game way more than they probably are because there's
a lot of highlights that came in that
seventh inning or later that are easy to just remember
and forget about everything else that
happened up until that so a shout out to DL Hall
the massive massive massive two and a third
innings from him out of the bullpen
and then you look at who closed it out well of course
Trevor McGill getting the job done he went one
and a third he did come into that eighth inning
got the one out came back in the ninth luckily now
with a comfortable six to two lead struck
out two batters did not give up a hit a walk
or an earned run he was pumping it for strikes as
well 13 of 18 pitches uh went for strikes nice
to see that from McGill man the Brewers I mean
they sit one win away one win away
and how else do they do it well the offense Jackson
Churio one for five this game
but you know what that one swing was on the first pitch of the game
off of Blake Snell a middle middle fastball
that's like the last thing I'd throw to Jackson
Churio if I was a pitcher
but hey appreciate the gift he takes that to right field and starts the
Brewers off with an absolute bang love to see it
from Jackson Churio one of if not the best
postseason hitters in probably Brewers franchise history
which is unreal to say because he's still
very young only his third season in the league
but he's been a part of the Brewers postseason
in some very important runs
and we see some stats right here this is from Sarah Langs on X talking
about you know the most postseason RBI before
turning 23 years old Jackson Chourio leads that
list he's not even 23 years old yet
and he's doing this Andrew Jones is in second who Chourio passed
but Andrew Jones did this in 45 games
which unreal how many postseason games he was in before 23 he
He did that in 45 games.
Jackson Chourio did this in 19, 19 games.
An RBI a game is basically the pace he's on.
That's impressive even in a regular season
because if you're on pace for an RBI a game,
you're getting 162 RBI in a regular season.
This is in October against the biggest stars,
against the biggest teams on the biggest stage,
and he is absolutely showing up.
But another guy that was showing up,
I mean, how about Jake the Rake Bowers
with arguably the biggest swing of his career,
not even arguably, definitely is the biggest swing
of his career, I would say his biggest swing
of his career was the home run
in the playoffs two years ago against the Mets that also resulted
in back-to-back home runs but Jake Bowers
incredible what we're seeing from him here
I'm gonna put on the big screen
because there's this is just big screen type of stuff Jake Bowers
and his story on why he is currently
on the Milwaukee Brewers right now is absolutely unreal
again one for four homer that led to two runs we'll take
a look at a nice picture a nice snapshot
of what it looked like off the bat right there
and he knew it you saw the bat flip like right
away jake bowers knew that he got a hold of that one
in what was an 11 pitch at bat but what i want
to talk about is jake bowers and just this truly incredible story
so this is right here two years
ago jake bowers told his agent he was retiring
his wife would return to teaching while he stayed at
home with their child but then three days later after
this she told him that she was pregnant
so jake bowers returned to baseball to feed his family
and for health insurances says last night
hit the go-ahead home run in the NLCS his dad Stu
who was there uh he has worn his t-shirt that
says Jake Bowers Hardware Company
which I think is hilarious the last four Brewers games and they
are 4-0 it has not been washed yet
so uh unfortunately for Jake Bowers dad um I think
you're gonna have to stay in that I don't think
you're gonna have to take a shower for a long time
that would be much appreciated if it's truly
that much of a good luck charm but Jake Bowers almost
retired from baseball and he has been one
of the most impactful bats from Milwaukee Brewers over
the past three years maybe in that year
when he hit the homer against the Mets yes he was batting
199 but he had the biggest swing in that postseason
this year he's having a career year uh one of the
best if not the best hitters on the Milwaukee Brewers
this season and he had probably one of
the biggest swings of their franchise history
probably franchise history i hope that maybe
one beats that because the Brewers win five more games
and win the World Series but that swing from
Jake Bowers might have been the biggest swing
in franchise history we take a look at that at bat
as well because he just absolutely his patience
at the plate in this postseason we saw it literally
a game ago in game two a 12 pitch at bat
with Yoshinobu Yamamoto that resulted in a full count
walk that then led Christian Yelich to get up
to the dish take a hit up the middle two RBI single
to give the Brewers a three to two lead right here it
was another situation where the Brewers took a
three to two lead following a big Jake Bowers at bat
but this time it was Bowers doing the damage
himself on the 11th pitch after one heck
of an at bat he got a middle middle fastball that he
absolutely crushed he did a bat flip like a half
a second after it he knew it so a shout out to
Jake Bowers but again who hit after Jake Bowers it
was Garrett Mitchell right away one for three
in this one with a homer and an RBI
because he said hey Jake I kind of like that lefty lefty
homer you hit off a Snell I'm gonna join the party he did
the exact same thing I mean Garrett Mitchell
saw a lovely change up right in that middle of the zone
and absolutely crushed it the Brewers
got four runs off of Blake Snell
in a game where it looked like maybe they were only going to get
one hit following that Jackson
Churho leadoff homer.
But look at this back-to-back
stat right here.
This is from OptaStats.
A little nitpick, but I say all
of these stats right here are so
impressive.
It says the Brewers are the
first team in MLB history to hit
back-to-back homers that came in
the seventh inning or later.
Talk about clutchness.
Came on the road.
Talk about a tough place to play
even though that stadium was not
that full.
You're still on the road.
Still on the road.
Came off a multi-time former
Cy Young winner.
Blake Snell has two of those.
And then turned a deficit into a
lead that has not happened in any
game regular season or postseason the Brewers first team
to do it and that's because of Jake
Bowers and Garrett Mitchell
so how about that stat for those two guys but one more guy I want
to give love to give attention to is Cooper Pratt he went three
for four in this game and scored
one of the runs that was huge for this Milwaukee Brewers six
to two win I don't think many people
are going to be talking about Pratt
because he didn't have one of the three homers but
he went three for four he went three for four
on the road in his first NLCS his first road game
NLCS. He was ready. He was dialed in three for four at the plate.
We've seen some ugly at-bats
from Pratt against some big-name pitchers,
but he's only gotten better and better throughout
this postseason. Really incredible stuff to see.
Really awesome to see. But again, we take a look
at the Dodgers and what the Brewers did against their pitchers.
The Dodgers did have four pitchers
go in this one, but I want to highlight Blake Snell
and Worbletsky. Blake Snell, six innings,
nine Ks, four earned runs, four hits, two walks on 101 pitches.
After Jackson Chur hit that lead
off homer Blake Snell retired the next 14 batters
but the brewers were never going to quit got a
4-2 lead with Snell in there
and after a little bit more bullpen in the middle that ended up being
more Worblewski to try to finish off the game
and not give up many more runs but unfortunately the
brewers had different things in mind where Worblewski went one
and two-thirds innings did strike out
three brewers but gave up two hits
and also an earned run he did that on 32 pitches so now the
brewers they sit here with a beautiful win a six
to two win in game three of this series and they
have a chance to take game four
and be in their first world series since 1982 i'm not going to
get ahead of myself we've seen a 3-0 comeback it's happened one time
but we could be talking
about a brewers world series in a couple of hours here
if that happens you know i will be live we
will be having a post-game celebration
and i will be up all night long even though this game is in
la and we'll probably end very very late 10 11
o'clock whatever time range you're in the brewers
put a graphic up that I don't think you can get a message
across more than this. Finish
them. Finish them. 4-0
sweep. Get out of LA. Focus
on a World Series. I love that Yelich is
on the graphic. He has been there since
2018 when the Dodgers beat the Brewers
in seven games. I mean, if you could ever
want a comeback story, it is right here
and right now. I hope to be talking to you guys in a couple
hours post-game following
Game 4. The Brewers still yet to announce
their pitcher. It will be interesting to see who they go
with. Maybe it's a big bullpen game. Patrick
Harrison Drowin still yet to pitch in this post
season i saw patrick warming up yesterday
but this brewers team one win away from a world series not
going to get ahead of myself but if you told me taylor
the brewers are going to have a 3-0 lead
over the dodgers i would have called you crazy
that is no negativity to the brewers it is just
really hard to get a 3-0 lead in an NLCS in an ALCS
in a playoff series in general the brewers
are doing it against the back-to-back champions hoping
the brewers complete the sweep and we are
talking about how to party like it's 1982 hope
to see you guys after the game maybe we're bringing
the brooms out
