STORM WATCH: Strong to severe thunderstorms today with a dramatic drop in temps this weekend in the Bronx

Rain and thunderstorms for us throughout the rest of today. A few things to note as we head out the door for this morning. Bring the umbrellas and have the rain boots ready to go. So what we are watching for today is first round. It will be some mainly showers, but it could be a bit on the breezy side. But later for this evening, we're looking at the timing from now to 10 a.m. for us to see our first round of potentially heavy downpours or even some storms. And then for 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. would be our second round of seeing not only strong thunderstorms, but potentially a severe threat by these wind driven storms ahead of a front that's going to be dropping our temperature. temperatures dramatically overnight into our Saturday. So think again over towards Soundview and much of our neighborhoods are going to be seeing our heavier downpours closer to 7, 8 o'clock and then we start to phase out a bit and I've been mentioning all week long there will be a dry period that's going to be taking place for us. We're looking at this to start to take place around 10, 11 o'clock in the morning and then start to last until about 3, 4 o'clock ahead of our second round of seeing some storms. It's going to be mild and even sunshine looks to be peeking through. But again, just be mindful that the morning commute first impact of seeing some mainly showers a quick little downpour, but then we'll see skies starting to open up as we get closer towards our afternoon. And then just around six o'clock is where we'll see our next round of potentially seeing those stronger and severe storms developing. Now walking throughout much of the day, we are expected to see, especially over towards Parkchester, a bit more of some cloud cover, but peaks of sunshine will be possible early for our afternoon. Temperatures will be surging as fuel for the storms, and we'll continue the update throughout the morning.
