This is a 22 News Storm Team Weather Alert.
And good Friday morning.
Time now is 6:42.
We do have that 22 News Storm Team Weather Alert that is up
because we do have the risk for some strong thunderstorms
potentially come later this afternoon going into the evening.
Some storms could even become severe.
Not something you typically hear for the month of October,
but definitely for today.
But Springfield out there, it is very cloudy right now.
And Greenfield starting to get into some rain.
You can see the roads got that shine on them.
So heads up for some wet roads this morning.
Got that breeze coming in right out of the south.
And temperatures, you might want to start off with a light jacket,
but it will warm up as the day goes on.
We're 48 there in Northampton and Greenfield, 53 in Springfield,
some 50s back into the Berkshires.
But notice as the day goes on, temperatures go up fast.
By noon, we're in the 60s for everyone.
And we'll likely touch the upper 60s to maybe even near 70 degrees
come later this afternoon.
This is 3 o'clock here, upper 60s.
Notice here by 6 p.m., we're still holding on to the upper 60s
to near 70 up and down the valley, lower 60s back in the Berkshires.
So today actually ends up being a very warm day.
But that cold front sweeps through this evening,
and these temperatures drop very fast by tomorrow morning,
6 a.m. here on your Saturday, waking up in the 30s and 40s.
And these temperatures don't move by a lot for tomorrow.
This is noon tomorrow.
We're mostly in the 40s for everyone,
48 degrees in Springfield, and that's without the wind.
You factor in the wind that it could feel like we're stuck in the 30s
and 40s for much of your day tomorrow.
So scattered showers with some late-day thunderstorms.
That is the top of the 22 News Storm Team forecast focus.
We got chilly air for the weekend.
Temperatures in the 40s and 50s.
And then heading into much of next week,
it looks mostly dry and seasonable.
Temperatures will be mostly into the 60s.
Our average high this time of year is 64.
We'll be well below average for your day tomorrow.
I expect a lot of us might not even get out of the 40s.
mid 50 for your day on Sunday right around 60 heading
into early next week so we're starting
to see some rain moving back
in Greenfield back through North Adams down through Pittsfield some
of the steady rain falling
and we got this round of some rain pushing in from the west so this is
going to move on through could reduce some visibility
on the roads as we go throughout
the next few hours but once it passes on by we're going
to be dry for a little period during the
afternoon so i wouldn't really expect much
happening between around noon and 3 p.m but
once we get into the late afternoon
into the evening especially anytime after four o'clock
there is the chance for some thunderstorms
and we actually have a severe thunderstorm threat a level
one out of five for across all of Massachusetts
with the exception of southwestern Berkshire
county they're under elevated level two risk
so the showers and storms come through this morning
by around or a little after 9 a.m they're gone notice here
by lunchtime 12 o'clock it's just
mostly cloudy, and mostly dry for the afternoon.
There could be a little mist or
drizzle, but there's not a lot going on.
Going into the evening, though, here comes your cold front,
and there could be some heavy showers and downpours,
even some rumbles of thunder, some strong gusty winds as well
as this line moves through, and then once it does,
we'll clear things up, and it turns
very chilly heading into your weekend.
So how much more rain we see, anywhere from around a half inch
to as high as an inch, it really depends
on where these heavier downpours set up,
But, again, not a complete washout all day.
I think there will be a period
of dry weather during the early afternoon
before we see that line of some storms come through during the evening.
So 66 to 70 out there today.
Scattered showers and downpours this morning.
Thunderstorms likely going into the evening.
Breezy for today.
Through tonight, we're going to stay dry, partly cloudy.
Temperatures fall back down to the 40s
for a lot of us, and it will be breezy.
And that sets us up for a chilly weekend.
Tomorrow, high temperatures only in the upper 40s to near 50.
It will be windy, so I would dress
for your Saturday like the upper 30s and low 40s.
There will be a wind chill tomorrow.
Sunday looks to be the pick of the weekend.
Nothing but sun, a little warmer, mid-50s,
but still below average for this time of year.
And we'll stay very quiet through the next seven days.
Temperatures try to climb back into the 60s heading into next week,
but still around or a little bit below average.
And those nighttime temperatures in the 30s
and 40s could even see some upper 20s
for Saturday night into Sunday.
