Well, as we get excited for fall, the weather's finally cooperating.
Tomorrow, we're getting help from a local interior designer.
I'm making her home cozy with some simple seasonal updates.
It's about time that it needs to be cozy.
And when you need to get it cozy,
Tiara Neubom can help you out, of course.
She's joining us live this morning with more.
Hey, Tiara.
Hey, guys. Good morning.
Yeah, we are ready for the cooler weather
and ready to cozy up on the couch with a blanket.
Laura, you're helping us out today.
What are some of the things that we can do to help our home feel cozy
and ready for the fall season?
Well, I think, obviously, the colors are going to make a difference.
Adding in some warmer colors and swapping out things that are easy,
like pillows, your florals, that sort of thing.
Also, I like to evoke the senses, so bringing in some nice, you know,
smells, some candles that are a little bit more fall-feeling.
Bringing a little harvest air.
Bringing a little harvest air to our crisp air
that we're going to have this weekend.
All right, let's start with the living room table here.
What are some of the things to do that are maybe budget friendly
that we can kind of swap in and out to make this look more fall?
Yeah. So, I mean, on your coffee table, it's nice to add
in a couple different groupings here on this little circular basket.
I have, you know, obviously just a fall candle.
Previously, it felt a little more springy.
I had a coconut one. This one is a harvest one.
It's actually, you know, easy.
You can get it at Target
and then some cloches in this beautiful amber glass.
beautiful um it's just it adds a little warmth
and just i think that dark feeling that people
just kind of want to feel a little bit more muted in the fall
and then what about switching out like
our florals for fall yes so this you can see
while it is still pink it still feels fall it has some
darker tones in it and so i say layering
in some florals it's such an easy way to just add coziness
and also just another color let's talk about changing up
our pillows for fall obviously
you've got a lot of brown going on but kind
of show us what you did here to transition your
living room there's a blue rug
and you're saying you know this rug could look very springy but
we're doing some things to kind of pull in the browns
and in the darker tones yes so switching
out easy things you know
this rug i have all year round you don't swap out your rug all the time
but you can easily swap your throw pillows
so while this neutral one could look really springy
when it's next to these colors if you pull these yep
and then add in you know your warmer tones
a little bit of you know it's giving fall that's
so easy texture different you know patterns it
just adds a little extra design element that's cozy
and then of course adding in blankets that
are in the same fall color scheme is always
the best way to yeah what are you thinking about when
picking out like I mean all of the pillows
that you have here are pretty much different and that
could go one or two ways like it could look very kind
of unorganized yes this looks very cohesive
so what are your tips and tricks there I think mixing patterns is key
but making sure that you
don't have two similar patterns together
for instance I'm mixing a plaid like pattern with
a stripe pattern or adding a geometric maroon pillow
with a little like a boucle pillow and
also a solid one with pretty edges I think it's just layering
in and and changing it out you know
in a thoughtful way where it's not too matchy matchy
is the best way you were talking to me
about layering in light how do we do that and kind of more
so set the mood for fall yes so
lamps lamps lamps are my friend
so i have a picture light here which actually um that is
not hardwired i bought that on amazon
and it is just you plug it in so that's an easy thing that
you can add yourself at home for sure um and not have
to spend a ton of money and then also of
course floor lamps in the corners um table lamps just adding
in those cozy layers of light so that
You don't always have to have on your bright overhead lights
is the best way to create that cozy atmosphere.
Ready to cuddle up and watch some football in the cold weather.

good day Austin so stay tuned
for that well i love it all we all we need is the weather now
24 hours early but it looks great it's coming it does look great
and i love the the lighting is
everything to you as you were saying layering
and lighting love that it looks so good yeah it does
thanks guys thank you as we get excited for fall weather
the holiday season all that stuff coming
up one local interior designer says you can make
your home cozy with some simple seasonal updates
That's right. Tiana Newbaum joins us
with a closer look this morning. I'm all yours.
We're in the kitchen now, Katie.
I think you're going to love this. And what a perfect time to
talk about getting our home warm and cozy for fall.
We've got the weather joining us this weekend,
Laura, and you've got some great tips for our kitchen.
So we started in the living room. We're
now in the kitchen. What are some of the things we can
do that are easy, budget friendly to help
our kitchen feel a little bit more cozy this fall?
Yes. So obviously, you know, I have the floating
shelves here so I have an opportunity
to display items you know on the floating shelves I'll bring
in some of my amber glassware
and some of my darker plates instead of the lighter clear or
white ones so placing those you know the amber glass is just
so nice and it really does add in
that nice warmer feeling and then I see you have
a cookbook here that recipe even looks very fall
so what are some of the things that we can do there
and then let's talk lighting next as well
yes again you know adding
in the different lighting i love having task lighting on the
counter i know that some people that's
a little controversial i've found actually okay but i like
to have lamps in the kitchen because
then i don't have to have all my lights on and i can keep it a
little bit dimmer while i'm cooking you know
my fall meals i'm all i'm all ears for the fall meals
and ready for the cold weather um as an interior designer what
are some of the fun exciting things
that you're thinking about for fall
or maybe even just this year what are some of the trends that
we're seeing I think bringing in some muted tones
and just some color but not without you know not
without it being too loud I think having
that muted experience really evokes some nice fall
feeling okay and then we have some lavender
on the table we've talked about different um floral
arrangements this morning what are some of the things
when we're trying to switch over our
florals for fall that we're thinking about
so what's cool about this is that these are just
some dried florals and it's a lavender color
which might seem more like a spring tone but i think when
it's paired with some of the more fall colors
with with the amber glass with everything it still
feels very fall what are you working
on right now what's exciting in the interior design space
oh my goodness well we have
so many fall projects that we're actually wrapping up by the end of the
year which is very exciting for holiday season
but we actually have design for a cause coming up
which is very near and dear to me where we're raising money
for scholarships for children at
The Children's Therapy Spot
so that's November 13th from five to nine and actually um four hands
is hosting it for us this year at their beautiful showroom
so it's going to be a huge event i'm so
excited what does that evening look like oh
my goodness there's going to be amazing past
hors d'oeuvres they're going to have entertainment amazing
um activities if you will there's going
to be cigar roller there's going to be i think paella outside
and then an amazing silent auction
to raise money for these kids design for a cause
and then if you could leave us with one more like
tips or tricks for budget friendly ways to help
our kitchen look fun full and cozy this fall
you know i really just think swapping out your art
your your colors just making it feel a little
bit more um and give you that warm season feeling
you know we know we have the the drawer or closet
or the cabinet full of cookbooks grab the ones
that are a little bit darker and warmer for this
fall. I love it all. Okay, you can follow
Laura on social media. You can check out
her website, Living
Oak. Living Oak.
To get tickets for that design for the
cause, guys. Looks beautiful in there,
Tiara. I was talking to Katie during the segment.
Lights or lamps on the counter in the
kitchen. That's new one to me. They're in every
corner of my kitchen. I didn't know they were controversial.
No, I didn't know it was controversial. I mean, it looks cool.
Yeah. I love it. Yeah, there it is.
You want the down lighting. It's cozier.
Down lighting. Yeah, I turn all my overhead
lights off and it's only the lamps for now.
Wow. Right, Tiara? It is. It gives you that, yes, I'm so in.
It gives you, grab a blanket,
grab a robe, cook some chili. Yes, ma'am.
Chili and down lighting. Now I'm really ready for fall.
I only thought I was. Tiara, thank you so much.
As we get excited for the cooler fall weather and
the holiday season and all that good stuff,
we're getting some help from a local interior designer
on making our home cozy with some simple seasonal updates.
I knew about doing this I would have closed out
look this morning on all the tips say Tiara hey guys good morning what
a fun morning to get ready
for the cold weather that's trending
this weekend Laura what are some affordable ways that we can
get our home cozied up and ready for this fall season i'm
so excited for the cold weather and
one thing that i did this week was bring out
my chunkier blankets it's there's nothing more cozy
than just like wrapping yourself up in a cozy blanket
and then also maybe like a darker toned
pillows to just kind of bring in that muted feel of the season.
I love getting out the cozy blankets
even just seeing them when you walk in and seeing them
in the living room it makes things feel
warmer and then let's talk about lighting it's
something that we've been talking about all
morning how can we change up our lighting maybe add
in some lamps to help things kind of cool down
and feel cozy this fall.
Yeah so this lamp I actually bring it in and out all the time it's
from Target it's very attainable
but it's a nice dark green color so when you're feeling like you
need a little bit of a color change
in the spring maybe i'll bring out one that's a lighter color
and it's just an easy way to swap it out
but still add that moody flavor right now instead of
things that we might already have at home a lot
of different table books how can we change those up
and then change out our floral arrangements
to help bring in the fall tones well something i
talk about a lot is balancing color you don't want everything
to be dark you want to balance
of light and dark so for instance
on the console over there we have the lighter florals inside of
the darker pieces but over here I have on the piano
a light vessel to balance off of the dark
piano but I put in some some darker florals
to kind of add in that different element those are
giving fall okay and then let's head
into the dining room here what are some of the updates
that you've done this week as you kind
of transformed the house into fall mode so i
absolutely added in some of my darker you know vessels some
of the fun potpourri that's just
gives off the scent we keep talking about bringing in all the senses
so again with the lighting but
also the sense of smell right it really adds
in a nice warmer feeling um something on my
here that i did was add in this darker marble candlestick it's just
a little bit moodier than
what i had there previously which is an easy swap
and really fun and again with the florals yeah the
dried florals we're seeing these a lot of places all over your house
so is this something that you
do year round and you just switch them out
or let's talk about the dried florals a little bit
and how we can incorporate those um easily naturally
and beautifully what's amazing is
they make really good ones everywhere now
so you don't have to go and get the most expensive pieces
like you used to you can go to Michael's you can go to Target
and get some really beautiful i mean
this is just eucalyptus
and it's really lovely i mean swapping them out with the season is the
easiest way to make your whole space look
and feel different and then of course hosting for
the holidays is coming up so what are some
of the things that you've done here let's kind of break
this down and talk about how to make
for an easy affordable place setting yeah i included a darker
charger here i feel like it still gives
a nice natural feel with it being woven but then adding
on the darker plate pieces i feel like if you have white plates
so this can still give the same
feeling the best way is to include
a really cool napkin i think that that adds your pop of color
and your shift for the season
and then i just cut this little sprig from my vegetable garden
and placing that on top is just a little small detail
that makes it feel a little bit more
special for the holidays right you don't have to go out
and buy everything new use what you
already have maybe grab some new napkins
or a new set of wine glasses and make the home feel cozy
and warm we're ready
for it all right you can follow Living Oak Interior Design on
social media she's got a lot going
on on there some fun events coming up guys we'll send it back
to you in the studio bring on the cold weather Zach uh-huh it's
the perfect time to make some
tweaks around the house because cool weather's coming
and it's amazing that the little tweaks
can make such a big difference
in how everything presents itself gonna get some lamps now i'm
thinking about it kitchen lamps put that on the list thanks
