National Weather Service placing the entire state of New Jersey,
New York City, the lower Hudson Valley,
and western Long Island under a watch until 10 o'clock tonight.
So let's get right to Chief Meteorologist Nick Gregory
at the weather map, tracking it all out for us.
Hi, Nick.
Hello there, and this is that watch area graphically pictured here.
Again, you can see all of western Connecticut,
all of New Jersey, back towards Nassau County.
And originally it was just over eastern Pennsylvania.
That was going to go until 8 o'clock tonight.
And now already some warnings are appearing.
that's a severe thunderstorm warning
in northeastern Pennsylvania that's going to go to
5 30 let's look at the radar
and show you that line that's coming in I think that that watch
will probably end sooner because this is the line
that's moving pretty quickly you can see some
lightning strikes were there now reaching again
northeastern Pennsylvania moving up towards almost
into Ulster County and the line extending southward down
into northern sections of Maryland
so we'll be on the lookout for that again
on the big picture you can sort of see that whole line
shaping up here from almost Burlington, Vermont, down southward.
But this is the focus right in here.
After that passes, you're going
to see it's just going to be showers in the forecast
as this cold front kind of moves along.
And then we're going to see that wind
shift coming down out of the northwest.
It's going to be strong and gusty tomorrow,
and that's going to lower the temperatures, too.
So here's our future cast again.
Showers and storms rolling through the worst
of it into the early part of the evening again.
I think the watch probably will be ending before 10 o'clock.
But the showers are going to linger, particularly south
and east of the city, into tomorrow morning.
Notice it's 40s to low 50s out the door.
The temperature doesn't move.
Stays in the low 50s all day.
We get a little more sun by midday on into the afternoon
with a strong northwest wind gusting up over 30, 35 miles per hour.
Cold starts Sunday.
30s, even upper 20s north and west.
About 40 in the city.
Be some frost potentially.
It's going to be breezy.
Be back into the middle 50s as we head on into Sunday.
And by the way, this is the first time
this season a freeze watch is up.
That's from tomorrow night on into Sunday morning, 9 a.m.
Notice this again for areas inland, not for the city and the coast.
