Jackson criticizes former mayor's record

Thank you so much. Hello, Georgia. You ready to win big? There you go. Because that's what we're going to need to do in the next 18 days. And after we win, I'm going to work hard for you and make sure you win big also. I grew up in foster care. My mom was a sixth grade educated waitress. I couldn't afford to finish college. I had seven stepfathers by the time I was 12. I know what it's like to have nothing, and I know what it's like to struggle to make ends meet. and to have food. But I spent my career building organizations, creating jobs, and solving hard problems. Now I want to put everything that I've ever done, everything I've ever learned, and everything I've ever built to work for you. Because this election is a clear choice. My opponent, Keisha Lance Bottoms, had her chance to lead. The results were disastrous. She sided with criminals over police. That's disqualified. Murders and crimes skyrocketed. Police and the entire community were abandoned. Businesses closed. Prices went up. The highest inflation over the entire nation over 50 years was 40% higher in Atlanta. Political insiders got rewarded while everybody else suffered. And then when her city needed her the most, Keisha Lance Bottoms walked away. She abandoned Atlanta. I grew up in the kind of neighborhood she abandoned. I know the people who actually get hurt when leaders start showing up. Bad mayors don't make good government. We cannot let her do to Georgia what she did to Atlanta. I am proud to have Governor Kemp's endorsement. He knows what this job takes and I'm honored he's trusting me to build on the foundation that he's made. My opponent has said she wants to undo our progress in Georgia. I want to build on it. We're going to take Georgia to the next level. Here's how. I'll freeze and lower property taxes. I'll cut the taxes in half. I won't run again. You can hope expect me and hold that up. I'll eliminate the gas tax when prices spike just like they have recently and save you money on the utility bills. I will make your life more affordable. I'll take on the insurance companies and eliminate the middlemen who drive up health care costs. I'll make sure Georgia's children get the education they deserve, raise teacher pay, and support our teachers and have their back when they need discipline. I'll hold every part of government accountable and enact term limits. And I'll support law enforcement 110%. No apologies. No backing down. Georgia deserves a governor who will stay, do the work, and finish the job. I don't need the money. I'm not interested in the title. I don't owe anybody anything. I don't have anything left to prove in my life. I am running to take care of God's children and the least of these. I am running because I have something left to give. Your fight will be my fight, and I will never abandon you. As a child, I was abandoned, and that psychologically is a severe psychological problem for me over my entire life. But I want to tell you something. If you're struggling, if you can't make ends meet, if you don't have a job.
