Fox 6 Wake Up News, Milwaukee's most trusted morning news show.
Good morning, good morning.
All right, taking a live look.
Well, this is not a live look.
I'm so sorry.
This was live, but it's a time-lapse video
that was made using our tower camera
showing the dense fog rolling through this morning.
It feels like you're in a plane, right?
Yeah.
And you're about to kind of land into it.
Looking down.
Yeah.
So the time-lapse basically showing, you know,
the layer of fog as the sun rose up.
Pretty neat, at least from this perspective.
I know it is causing some trouble for travelers, Rob,
right now, kind of down here on the ground level.
The surface level is really problematic.
You know, you see that time lapse, you see how it flows,
almost looks like, you know, a river or whatever.
It's kind of how our atmosphere works.
Let's take a look at how that fog is behaving on the ground.
This is one of our Sheboygan DOT cams.
Again, very reduced visibility.
The sun is starting to get through, so that'll help out a little bit.
And there again is that just blanket with the tops
of the buildings poking up from downtown.
down. Visibility is .06 right now at Mitchell International.
It's at zero Racine, West Bend,
Juneau, Watertown and our dense fog advisory has been expanded
so it now includes our entire
viewing area inclusive now of Jefferson and Walworth.
Now it goes through until 10 a.m.
so it's been expanded and extended.
The upper levels are beautifully clear. Once the fog lifts
we'll get back to some sunshine.
We'll warm into the middle to upper 60s today but for now
please give yourself that extra time on the road
in all right well hey speaking of your morning
road conditions taking a live look here
at some congestion that we're seeing building on 4145
uh yeah the fog is not helping your roads at all
this morning good news is we don't have any
crashes that have been reported right now the last one
that we were kind of tracking has cleared so
that's good news there we are still seeing some slowdowns
though due to not just the fog but also
construction. Your drive time is pretty slow right now,
27 minutes to head east on 94. That's
Moreland to downtown. That's your slowest go right now.
We'll keep you posted as your conditions
change here throughout the morning.
All right, taking a look now at some of your top stories
this morning. The FBI is investigating suspicious mail sent
to two Wisconsin members of Congress,
both Wisconsin senators and the State Elections Commission.
The scare comes as Wisconsin gets
ready for early voting to kick off this morning
and that suspicious mailing was also sent to the
Marquette University Law School poll
The Milwaukee Fire Department has not responded at the
university and the university tells
the test found nothing dangerous. Lawmakers Gwen Moore, Mark
pocan Ron Johnson and Tammy Baldwin all say they received
the suspicious mail and the Wisconsin
Elections Commission says it received mail
with a powdery substance on Wednesday that wasn't
dangerous either. A band
one drumline teacher at Milwaukee's Rufus King High School is now
charged with inappropriately touching multiple students.
28-year-old Antonio Kitchens is facing
three charges of sexual assault by school staff.
Investigators say three teenage boys came forward
with similar stories, saying their teacher asked to meet alone
and then put his hand on their crotch
over their clothes while discussing their grades.
Kitchens will be back in court next week for a
preliminary hearing. Well, meanwhile,
three people are now charged in last week's Milwaukee police
chase that ended with an officer assaulted and injured.
The district attorney charged 22-year-old
Sincere Scott, 19-year-old Jerrell Cheed,
and 17-year-old Javionte Thomas. Prosecutors say
the three were driving last Wednesday near 57th and Center.
Investigators say the vehicle had
tinted windows and Florida registration.
Police tried to stop the vehicle, but three sped off,
leading to a chase that ended at 48th and Hadley
when police say Scott hit a tree and then got out
and ran. One officer, one officer,
caught and arrested Cheed who police say had drugs on him.
Another officer ran down Scott in an alley.
Investigators say during a struggle, Scott
tried to disarm the officer,
got a hold of the officer's firearm magazine and hit him with it
multiple times. Well, that officer was then taken
to the hospital to get stitches. Prosecutors say
Scott also had several grams of drugs on him.
Police arrested Thomas later that night,
who was also allegedly carrying drugs in a baggie.
Today, a court commissioner set Thomas's bond at
$30,000. Cheed's bond is at $2,500.
Scott's bond is set at $75,000. Well, in-person early voting
for the November election begins today.
The race for governor headlines the ballot, but there are
also a number of federal, statewide, and local races and referendums.
Andrew Amuzu is joining
us now live outside of the Zeiler Municipal Building.
That's one of the polling locations
that you can go to starting today.
With details on what voters need to know. Hi, Andrew. Good
morning. Good morning. And those voters,
especially in regards to the early voting period, but even
this entire general election,
they're going to be joined by millions of voters statewide. The
Wisconsin Election Commission,
they say about 2.6 million voters will be participating in this
There's a lot to know, especially here
at the Zeidler Municipal Building.
I'm holding up a sheet right now.
This is photo IDs.
This is something that definitely makes sure that you are aware of.
If you do plan to vote, you have to bring a photo ID.
There's a whole desk here
and workers already here making sure that things are running smoothly.
Once you go past this table here,
then you'll be able to walk right inside here where they
have all of these stations already up and ready for you.
I will preface by saying, though, that this entire center,
as far as voting goes, will open at 9 o'clock.
It will run from 9 to 5 p.m.
Each location does vary on time,
so making sure that you do stay updated.
We have all those updates on fox6now.com.
Just making sure that you are at the right place
and at the right time as well.
But early on, though, when we're talking about in-person voting,
that begins today, October 20th, and will run through November 1st.
If you do plan to vote, as I mentioned,
you must bring an acceptable photo ID,
some other documents as well if you do plan to register.
Now, of course, there are different ways to vote,
one of them being absentee mail-in votes.
Megan Wolfe of the Wisconsin Election Commission says they're seeing
requests for mail-in ballots actually take a significant dip.
And there's a couple reasons why that could be.
I think that part is twofold in my mind.
I think the first part is, you know,
we have seen delays in the mail over the last few years.
And I think for some voters, they're concerned about that.
And so they may choose to do in-person absentee
or vote on Election Day instead.
I also think there's an awareness component to it.
I'm really pleased that people are now more aware
of the fact that they have three ways to cast a ballot.
That any eligible Wisconsinite can vote by mail,
they can vote in-person absentee, or they can vote at the polls.
And so I think awareness is part of that as well,
and people choosing the option that is best for them
and that they feel most comfortable with.
Now, they're saying that significant dip that they are experiencing
and that they're seeing
this time around is about 30%,
30% less than a typical one, especially in regards to last
year.
So definitely a lot of things to take into consideration,
especially being mindful about
those factors that might contribute to that dip.
As for registration here, especially for early voting,
if you do plan to register or even
update your registration, you can do that Monday through Friday.
They say you cannot do that on the weekend.
But, of course, if you do miss it this week,
you can do that on the general election on November 3rd.
But as you can see, a lot of work being done here.
The station's already set up.
Workers are in place.
They do say that there's about 30,000 poll workers
this go-round for the election season,
and they still need some help.
So there's definitely information online about that, too.
So all the information here, and as I mentioned,
you can check out Fox6Now.com for more.
For now, reporting in downtown, Andrew Amuzu, Fox6 News, back to you.
All right, Andrew, thank you.
Well, hey, if you're in the housing market,
then you might want to ask how confident your builder is.
Yeah, a new market reading is painting
a gloomy picture for home builders.
We'll tell you why they aren't
so confident that you can build the house of your dreams.
And early voting, as we just heard from Andrew,
is officially underway in several states, including Wisconsin.
We take you to other key battleground
states for their latest projections.
And a new report found that a lot
of us are struggling with sleep apnea.
Medical experts give us the tools we need to fight back.
And everybody is guilty of ditching that old sofa or dresser,
but what if there was a way to give it a second life?
Brian Cramp is checking out the Habitat
for Humanity in Germantown Restore
with what you can do to refurbish all of your old stuff.
Fox.
Fox 6 Wake Up News, Milwaukee's most trusted morning news show.
Well, good morning, good morning.
This is such a cool shot.
It is.
I know it's problematic if you're driving around this morning,
but my goodness, it looks cool.
Okay, this is a look at that dense fog
that we've been talking about all morning long.
It moved in at around 2 o'clock this morning, clearly still here.
The advisory is set to be lifted in about 45 minutes or so.
So, you know, heads up if you are headed out this morning.
You may be dealing with a lot of that.
Look at headlines across America.
Early voters in Houston, Texas turned out to the polls this week,
braving long lines with the midterm countdown underway.
Some voters waited more than an hour to cast their ballots,
in the state's highly-watched Senate race between Republican
and Trump-backed Senate candidate Ken Paxton
and Democratic candidate James Tallarico.
Well, this morning's polls continue to show
that the race is likely to be close.
And just two states north,
President Trump held a rally in Kansas on Monday
to support incumbent Republican Senator Roger Marshall.
His race for re-election is close,
and he's facing off against Democratic candidate Adam Hamilton.
Hamilton is trying to become the first Democrat elected
to the U.S. Senate from Kansas in 94 years.
Polling indicates the race is a toss-up right now.
And with daylight saving time ending next month,
medical experts are explaining ways to take control of your rest.
Of course, a healthy lifestyle can make the difference.
But the CDC says people should
also try sticking to a regular sleep schedule,
get natural light, and avoid eating or drinking before bedtime.
Medical experts say common sleep disorders like sleep apnea,
if left untreated, pose serious health risks.
I was just checking, Rob, and I was wrong.
That dense fog advisory is now until 10 a.m., not 9.
Yeah, because it's been changed.
You were right 45 minutes ago.
But yes, it's been extended and expanded.
We've added some counties to it.
Take a look at some of the cameras around.
You'll see why it's a bit of a problem.
Obviously, the Sheboygan camp has gotten a lot better,
but it's still pretty thick fog.
Same thing as we check in with our new bird cam at North Lake.
I mean, they're just all really,
really struggling for visibility today.
And that's the case pretty much everywhere you look, which is, again,
the reason why the dense fog advisory has been extended and expanded.
So we've added in Jefferson and Walworth counties in our viewing area.
So our entire Fox 6 viewing area is now under this.
And we have stretched this out now until 10 a.m.
So dense fog advisory goes through until 10
a.m. for the entire viewing area.
Now, we're already seeing some improvement,
but it's going to take some time.
So even though the sun is up, keep those low beams
and the fog lights on if you have them.
Watch your speed because, yes,
obviously slow down so you have more reaction time.
But also make sure you're not going
so slowly that you're a hazard for the people coming up behind you.
Definitely leave a lot of extra space.
And because of this time of year,
be mindful of deer as well while they're hard enough to see without the fog.
Big picture shows high pressure in charge now eventually
that means sunshine and nothing but and a little bit of a breeze
is starting to pick up now off the lake it will continue
to develop never gets too strong but it will keep it slightly
cooler lakeside overall though we sit in a very mild air mass
for the next several days let's go look ahead with Sky Vision Plus.
Now, short term, yes, there's the morning fog, and we'll follow that up
with sunshine, quite a bit of it as we roll through the afternoon.
And then overnight tonight,
the fog probably will set back in a little bit.
I don't think it will be as impactful as today,
but definitely some fog followed up by more sunshine
and another very mild day on the way for tomorrow.
Today, highs will be in the low 60s, lakeside, mid to upper 60s inland.
We'll drop back down into the 40s overnight.
So 66 for the high, a good half dozen degrees on the warm side.
Even lakeside areas will be above that climate normal of 60.
The low 43 spot on that normal of 43.
A normal is just an average of the climate
period, in case you were wondering.
And then, of course, the records.
Now we're not going to touch those.
The record for today when it comes to snow, that belongs to 1989.
We had a record six inches of snow on the ground.
We had over six inches fall in the 48-hour period leading up to today.
1989 was quite the snowstorm indeed,
so at least we're not dealing with that.
In fact, we've been very mild of late,
save for that little frosty stretch we had heading into late last week,
which of course followed the record high of 87.
We've generally been on the above average side,
and that's the case for the remainder of the week and well beyond.
So our Fox 6 Day Planner starts off at 66 today,
68 tomorrow, 70 on Thursday.
Then we get to 68 for Game 1 on Friday,
72 for Game 2 on Saturday, both dry days, and 70 on Sunday.
Our homes hold the story of our lives.
And Renewal by Anderson Windows?
They're built to be there with you through every chapter.
They treasure the small moments, the ups and downs life gives us.
They're there through it all.
Start your next chapter with Windows that last.
The sunshine right now
over this layer of fog
that we're still dealing
with this morning.
We are in that dense fog advisory, I believe now until 10 a.m.
It's just been extended.
So just be careful because underneath all of this,
visibility is not the greatest.
You're so right.
Like soon enough, we're not going to be able to see any buildings.
Yeah.
All right.
Well, did you know that an old piece of furniture
or leftover home improvement material
taking up your space in your house could actually
really help somebody else build a better future?
Well, that is certainly the case, and nobody
knows it better than our Brian Kramp.
He's at the Habitat for Humanity Restore in Germantown,
finding out what you can donate and how those items get a second life
while supporting a great cause.
Hi, Kramp. Good morning.
Yeah, Nicola, I'll tell you what, you know,
part of the donations that people are giving
as well as these guys are receiving, they're big, too.
So you need some help, and you guys got that with the volunteers here.
Bernie. Thanks for joining us today.
One of the things that stands out about you guys is that you
can do it different ways with the donations.
One, you can drop off here. So take me through that
process. We're kind of coming in at any location through the cones
and then what happens once we
have the stuff here? Yeah, usually we have
a bell ringing system that, you know, alerts our people
that you're here and then we'll come in and we'll come out and check,
talk with you, see what you
have, what you're trying to do with it
and then see how it fits in our donation. Yeah, and before
we get to that the items that can
and can't be donated too that's super important you know that
sign right that items left after hours are going
to be returned via Germantown police with an
appropriate fine so you just don't want people
dropping stuff off clearly yeah right it just
costs us more money and then for the mission you know we feel
our dumpster just cost us too much
money yeah well let's go inside
because a lot of stuff we saw this earlier on with Megan and she
was kind of you know going through
the how you guys sort through the items and recycle some of
this stuff as well but you know it's interesting
because on the store floor you see some really
quality furniture item is but it's not just everything
that you are taking yeah right yeah
so we i mean we we sort through it you know we try
to stay away from particle board furniture and
all these other things if somebody comes
and they have an old item that might be just metal we'll
take it and we have a recycling room that we go
and we recycle down seven different metals and
and then we turn that in for cash also
but i like that you have like patio furniture seasoning
seasonal only that's that's smart because you know you're
not going to move it during the winter
storage is tight yeah see I mean we got
our processing room is busy and we have
to remember that volunteers are doing yes
so be patient please you know and
some of the heavy lifting might take
more than one person to assist with now
you know I said that there were a couple
of ways that you could do the donations
one is the drop-off two is having you guys come
and pick it up how does that
work out yeah so you just call
our store you can text we have a text in line to
send pictures of what you might have and we'll uh
then we'll reach out back to you and and and
say yes or no to the donation uh even
with our corporate donors we work with uh building
suppliers and stuff like that that will get doors windows siding
and all those kind of things that
uh you know we go pick up or sometimes they just deliver them right
to us and i will say this too
it's very fluid very easy to work
with your team i've had it done several times and
and when you're clearing out dare i say
this homes you know of with large furniture that you don't
have time to sell, that you, you know,
can't navigate, you know, because of some instances
that happen in life, you know, well,
it's good to have some support from your team.
What stands out about the mission to you as you've
been working here for, you know, probably
the past 10 plus years?
Yeah, so the mission focus is helping families get into homes
or repairing part of a home
that has damaged onto it.
And, you know, from the first volunteer
that comes in and helps you to it being sold
and then the finances that we use to start building homes.
And then the kicker is the day that you hand over a key to somebody.
Yeah, and I know you're doing that right now.
They're building.
It's constantly happening here.
That is the mission, Habitat for Humanity Restore.
We're at the Germantown location, guys.
They open up at 9 o'clock.
Bernie, nice to meet you.
Thanks for hanging out with us this morning
and talking about the donations.
If you have items that you would like to donate,
you can do that as well.
Just hit up their website for more information.
More Fox 6 Wake Up coming about after the break.
Hey.
Fox 6 Wake Up News, Milwaukee's most trusted morning news show.
All right, good morning, and welcome back
to this foggy Tuesday morning.
But it's okay, because the temperatures are going to be good, Rob.
Yeah, we'll eventually get some sun and some mild temperatures,
but now you have to play Where's the Weatherman?
No, no.
We are looking at the fog across the parking lot there,
and it's tough to see even across the parking lot.
Take a look at the traffic cam up in Richfield, 4145, right there.
Again, very, very poor visibility in that location.
You've got some low cloud hanging out over the city there.
We've got visibility reports that are significantly reduced,
near zero in many, many cases.
And we do have that dense fog advisory right through until 10 a.m.
Upper levels, though, are beautifully clear.
So once we're done with the fog,
high pressure gives us a sunny and mild day today
with a high likely in the upper 60s.
But for now, please take care on the road into work.
All right, speaking of your road in,
things are still looking a little bit congested on 94 this morning.
It'll still take you 23 minutes to go from Moreland to downtown.
Other areas, though, are really easing up.
That dense fog, as you can see,
is causing some issues on your roads with visibility.
We're also seeing some slowdowns on 41 headed south as well.
So wherever you are headed this morning, please be safe.
Well, today marks the start
of in-person early voting for the November election.
And we are now just two weeks out from Election Day.
The race for governor might be headlining the ballot,
but there's also a number of federal,
statewide and local races and referendums as well.
Andrew Muzo was live at an early voting site in downtown Milwaukee.
So, Andrew, break down what voters need
to know before heading to the polls.
Yeah, well, first and foremost,
the different locations and the times, too.
Making sure that you're staying updated on that because
that does vary depending on the time and the location, of course.
Here at the Zeidler Municipal Building,
it's going to be open from 9 to 5 p.m. for voting.
Once you come over to this table right over here,
you'll see all these different types of documents here,
ranging from proof of residence to even IDs
and different documents that you need.
Of course, that is being offered in English and in Spanish.
But overall, there's that variety of locations all throughout the area.
Specifically for the city of Milwaukee, there's about 11 early polling
locations that will run starting today, October 20th through Friday.
And then, of course, we'll have that general election.
So it's going to run from October 20th through November 1st,
which is through the weekend.
If you do want to register to vote or even change your registration,
you can only do that during the weekday.
So I want to make that clear as well.
But as there are many workers here, there's also a handful of early
voters trying to get in line because that does open up at 9 a.m.
We are joined here by, let's get
a little bit more in here, by Mr. Roland Buck.
You were one of the first people to get in line here.
Is it simply just because you want to be able to be the first one
and get in, get out, that type of thing?
That type of thing.
Want to beat the crowd because I know it's going
to be a big, crowded day today.
Other places around the country that had early vote,
they had large crowds.
And I've always come here for my early vote.
And even before this, you told me about the history
and how long you've been voting.
Is that sort of something that you're continuing to see over the years,
that more people are wanting
to vote early instead of on the actual day?
Yeah, because on the actual day, you usually get a big crowd.
And I've stood in lines before, in the cold, in Wisconsin.
But if you can vote early and get through it out, it's great.
I tell everybody, don't boo, vote. Come early.
So just in case something is disrupted
on November the 3rd, you've already voted.
I've already voted. That's why I'm here early.
I'm definitely sure. I mean, you have the workers already ready.
You'll probably be in and out in just minutes, I'm pretty sure.
Hopefully I'll be in and out.
Well, definitely plan ahead and early for that one.
So, yeah, definitely people are starting to already arrive
and making sure that they are first in line,
making sure they're getting in, getting out, anticipating
those long lines, not just for today, but throughout the week.
So, yeah, definitely a lot of updates going on.
If you want more updates in regards to voting, registration,
all those things, we'll have that on our website, Fox6Now.com.
But for now, I'll send it back to you in the studio.
All right.
Great advice there.
8:34 right now and taking another look at your top local headlines.
A police chase in Milwaukee ends in a fatal crash Monday afternoon.
Milwaukee police say officers tried to stop a car near 22nd
and McKinley for a narcotics investigation, but the vehicle took off.
The chase ended when the suspect's vehicle hit another
car at 30th and Center.
A 40-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman inside the suspect's vehicle
were both taken to the hospital and are expected to be okay.
The passenger of the second car died at the scene.
The 28-year-old driver was rushed
to the hospital with serious injuries.
Charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County
District Attorney's Office in the coming days.
And Amy Jones will be in court today.
She's the woman charged for posing as a substitute teacher
at Rufus King International High School
and directing profane, racist, lewd, and sexual comments at students.
She faces more than three years in prison if she's convicted.
And Alexander Galatin is due in court today.
Prosecutors charge him for stealing a car with the child inside.
They say the child was later found unharmed still inside
the car after Galatin ransacked and abandoned it.
Galatin was out on bail for a different
criminal case when this happened.
A Milwaukee school board member is facing calls
to step down over chronic absences.
The board president says Mary Larson has missed
14 regular board meetings in the last two years,
including at the last five in a row to start this year,
or at least five in a row, I should say, to start this year.
The board sent Larson a letter urging her to resign.
We asked Larson about it at her house.
Here's what she had to say.
They won't let me attend the budget meetings.
The administration won't let me attend the budget meetings
because they won't tell me when they are.
It's a disservice to the students.
It's a disservice to the parents, a disservice to the taxpayers.
And my understanding, too, is she's
also still being paid and she's not showing up.
Well, the district says Larson's claims about
being shut out of meetings are not true.
School board members are paid $4,000 a year.
One parent told Fox 6 he plans to start a recall effort for her.
In world news this morning,
French police are cracking down on violent protests.
Following a violent weekend of riots,
police will be enforcing a nightly curfew now.
Brand new video shows officers patrolling the streets
of Paris last night after that curfew was announced.
Authorities say the goal is to protect people
and property from the violence and looting.
These protests started about a week ago
with students voicing concerns over poor conditions in schools.
But the movement has now evolved into focus on rising living costs,
leading to riots over the weekend,
with buildings burned and stores looted.
Well, despite this, the NFL says Sunday's game in Paris will go on.
The Saints will face the Steelers in Paris,
and the Saints as the home team are already there.
The NFL says preparations for the game are on schedule,
and there's been no impact from the protests at league sites.
In a statement, the NFL also said it's working closely
with local authorities on security matters.
Well, the Bucks season will officially begin tomorrow,
and in advance, you can grab some new merch to rep the team.
That's right. Donovan Long joins us from our live center
with new ways that you can show your support. Hey, Don.
Well, good morning, guys. Time to get your wallets ready for the new
swag you can buy out there to support the big team, the guys.
We know they're getting ready for their season opener,
followed by their home opener.
Want to take you to Fiserv Forum, though, first,
where we know workers at the Bucks Pro Shop will unveil new merchandise
for the season today at about 11 o'clock this morning,
so in roughly two and a half hours here.
Want to give you a look at some merch that's already
on the racks as we gear up for what's ahead.
We know the Bucks Vault, which is a new retail kiosk, has expanded.
So, guys, we're talking new apparel, headwear, Derrick a,
I know you love hats, new accessories as well.
Cool thing here, fans can
also get a complimentary Bucks Vault tote bag, which kind
of depends on what kind of purchase they make as a reward there.
Crews will also unveil Nike's new Work With Obsession collection.
And folks, this features a unique expression of Bucks identity,
the basketball culture.
Really cool here.
The designers were inspired by the game itself.
Music, fashion, street style,
probably the clothes you see all the players wear.
And their new digs are obviously always really cool.
and in line with what's trendy and then lastly the Bucks
and six the Bucks lifestyle brand that
we talk about they will uh unveil custom sweaters
jackets t-shirts everything that reps the city we
know and love and the culture that makes us
who we are here in Milwaukee. That merchandise, guys,
will be sold on the Bucks Pro Shop or online exclusively
so keep that in mind. Again, get your
wallets ready because you will be spending some serious cash
if you really want to support the
guys, this season a lot of new players to get out there
and support their jerseys. Yes, excited for
that. Yeah, home again. Season opens uh away
on the road against the Washington Wizards. There and the
again at home on Friday with the Chicago Bulls
and they moved up the game so that our
fans can watch as well. So I think if you're
a Wisconsin sports fan, you're probably not working
much on Friday at all, at all. Do we have to go
to work on Friday? I think we might, I think we might
All right. See you there. Staying with Milwaukee Sports Now.
Brewers fans looking to get tickets
to the World Series were met with a lot
of disappointment. Yeah, the owners of the
Brewers' timeless tickets learned
that those golden tickets have lost their shine. The
Brewers sold 1,000 of these tickets for $1,000 back in 2015.
Danny Fofochado bought one for
his 27th birthday. So the ticket allows you
to pick from the best available seat at the time
of redemption for any home game.
Fofochado says he first cashed it in back in 2018
when the Brewers had a shot at the World Series
for a seat behind home plate.
However, this time he says he was given a form
the day before the tickets went on sale
and the only options were for the terrace
and standing room only.
It's been 11 years that we did this
and put our faith in the Brewers
and the fact that they wanted to kind of change the game up
when it mattered, that hurt.
For them to not really honor it in the original way doesn't feel good.
Well, he was able to get four tickets,
one to game one in the right field corner,
and he purchased three terrace-level tickets for game two,
where he'll take his dad and sister.
We did reach out to the Brewers
for a comment, but have not yet heard back.
And of course, you can watch all
of the Brewers World Series games right here on Fox 6.
Game 1 is Friday.
Our coverage starts at 4.
Then a special Brewers edition of Fox 6 News at 5.
First pitch is at 7.
And of course, stay with us after the game
for a special edition of Fox 6 News.
All right, time to get you set up for Fox 6 Wake Up at 9.
Yeah, things seem to be looking up
for the Packers after their third straight victory.
So we're getting a new look at the action through
the lens of our sports photographer,
Mickey Leach with this week's fifth quarter
and it's one of the most talked about features on
the big screen right now we'll
be talking about why director Nathan Fielder didn't want to be on
camera interesting and John Stewart's contract
with the Comedy Central series was set to end
at the end of this year after signing
a one-year renewal last November Comedy Central's parent
company is explaining why they decided to renew him
but before all that our Brian Cramp is in
Germantown learning how money raised through
the Habitat for Humanity Restore helps turn donated
goods into new opportunities for local families.
Good morning, good morning. Oh my gosh, we are
just about having all of our buildings downtown covered with fog.
That dense fog advisory has
been extended until 10 o'clock.
I suppose it could be extended even longer. Rob says that we could
see the return of some fog later on tonight, but yeah,
this is some of the thickest low cloud cover
that we have seen in quite some time here.
So be safe out there.
He's taken out of a safe situation, but that matters not.
Brian Baker is on to try to close this.
8-0 and 2, the count to De La Torre.
Lazy little pop-up into foul grounds.
On the run is Hicks.
He's got it!
All right, well, the Tampa Bay Rays are the American League champions,
which means the World Series stage is officially set.
The Rays clinched last night's game six against
the Cleveland Guardians at home.
The final score was 7-3.
And if you want to watch the games without breaking the bank,
Bavarian Beer House in Glendale is offering free beer,
yes, free beer, for every single World Series game.
It starts this Friday with Game 1 at 7 o'clock.
On top of the free beer, there's also going
to be a special stadium favorites menu
that's going to feature ballpark classics like brats, hot dogs,
the famous racing sausages, kebabs.
Admission is free, we should mention.
It's open to the public, of course,
on a first-come, first-served basis.
So just got to see if you get a seat there.
Yes.
All right.
So here's another look at the World Series schedule.
Games one and two are Friday and Saturday at Amphan Field.
Then the series moves to the home
of the American League champion for games three and four.
If necessary, game five is also on the road.
Game six and seven would be back in Milwaukee.
All games start at 7 p.m.
And you can watch them all right here on Fox 6.
And by the way, the Packers are heading
to Detroit on Sunday to take on the Lions.
Our coverage starts at 10 a.m.
The kickoff at 3:25 right here on Fox 6.
So be sure to stick around after the game
for a special edition of Fox 6 News.
All right, 8:47 right now.
And the beautiful thing is the weather is going
to be perfect for outdoor tailgates and watch parties.
Yeah, we've got a really nice stretch coming,
putting our best weather foot forward for the eyes of the world.
I mean, everybody's going to be watching Milwaukee, right?
Good thing they're not watching today because they wouldn't see much,
although it has made for some very pretty pictures.
Look at this really lovely foggy sunrise picture.
And if you're able to kind of, you know,
sit inside and look out at it, the fog is fascinating.
But thanks to Gene and Summers for this great picture this morning.
This, not so great.
This is from one of our Grafton DOT cams,
showing the reduced visibility there.
This is the North Lake cam, showing
the reduced visibility at that location.
Pretty much everywhere in our viewing area is less than a mile,
Most are less than half a mile.
And many of them are zero visibility.
Burlington, West Bend, Juneau, Watertown, Fond du Lac, Sheboygan,
all coming in at zero, almost zero at Mitchell International right now.
And that's why we do have this dense fog advisory, and that goes
right through until 10 o'clock, recently expanded and extended.
Now, big picture shows high pressure in charge.
So once this fog lifts, we'll have a beautiful, sunshiny day.
That high will give us a southeast breeze throughout the day,
so it will be a hair cooler lakeside.
But even lakeside locations will be warmer than
the average for this time of year.
Now, that warmer air continues to dominate
for the next several days right into the weekend.
So let's go look ahead with Sky Vision Plus.
Now, what you'll see in the short term here is that fog.
There's that southeast breeze setting up tons
of sunshine this afternoon.
Fog kind of filling in again as we go through
the night tonight on into our Wednesday morning.
And then after that, back to some sunshine again
and a very mild day for the midweek as well.
Today will be low 60s lakeside, mid to upper 60s inland,
so even lakeside areas will be above average.
We'll drop down into the 40s tonight
for a pretty average overnight low,
getting that air temperature to come back down toward the dew point
and maybe set us up with a bit more fog.
No record-breaking to be had for the day today,
but it has been a very mild October,
including that record-smashing 87 back on the 12th.
We have had some frosts and some freezes as well,
but more often than not, we've been above average.
We're about to add more above average days to that calendar,
including today, more so Wednesday, Thursday,
on through Friday, Saturday, Sunday,
and then maybe a return to more seasonal, perhaps even
slightly cooler than average air for a little bit next week.
But we're still looking on the above-average side
as we go into the 8 to 14-day temperature trend
that goes right through Halloween
on into the first couple of days of November.
So, our Fox 6-Day Planner, yes,
foggy today and perhaps again tomorrow, but mild.
66 today and 68 tomorrow.
Then up to 70 and sunny on Thursday.
Game 1, partly sunny, 68 degrees.
Game 2, partly sunny, 72 degrees.
Like I said, best weather foot forward as the world watches Milwaukee.
70 on Sunday and dry again.
Well, every purchase at a Habitat for Humanity ReStore helps support
something much bigger than the items that are on the shelves.
Well, that's how the mission of building affordable homes is achieved.
Brian Kramp is in Germantown learning how
the money raised through the ReStore helps turn donated goods
into new opportunities for local families.
Hey, Kramp.
Yeah, and, Erica, those opportunities mean new homes as well.
And I think, Mark, one of the things that you've learned over
the course of the past two years is that those new homes mean
so much to those families.
Thanks for joining us today.
Let's just go back to the last home
that you guys completed in West Bend.
What was it like giving the keys to the new family?
Oh, the move that bus day.
That's an exciting day.
Crystal, a single mom with a couple of young kids,
keeps the bills paid.
And it's going to impact that family for generations.
They're required to put in quite a few hours of sweat equity,
so I get to know them a little bit.
And, you know, I just ask where she's from,
and she said, well, you know, we moved a lot.
Yeah, yeah.
We moved a lot, Brian.
Her kids will grow up, and they say,
you know, someone says, where are you from?
They'll say, we lived in a home near the library in West Bend there.
Yeah.
And not only do those homes impact a family's financial circumstances,
the stability that, you know, they're back for Thanksgiving
and their kids are back to grandma's, it changes the whole landscape.
It changes the trajectory of the family. Each one of those kids
is going to feel that difference compared to their moms.
you know we're surrounded by building materials here Restore
is a place where contractors can
also come or if you're remodeling a home it's got
to be inspiring for you to kind of go through
some of the items here and find that perfect fit
for a house like that one you described in West
Bend yeah for sure and and not not only is it the supplies here
but there's a deeper meaning what
have you noticed in the past two years with working
on these homes with the volunteers because
some of them don't have the skills but are learning
and want to learn and want to help and
and they put in that sweat equity as well just
as volunteers it's uh it's a good experience yeah
it's a good experience my job is to make sure houses get built
and built well and sometimes
because it's not a huge production uh contractor there
is more attention paid and we turn out a
little bit higher quality build yeah
but bigger numbers for sure there's more people working on
that house I would imagine than a typical home.
We have about 400 volunteer days from dirt to
done and it helps make those homes affordable
so I have to kind of get the group started and
make sure they all have a job to do and finish
with you know all their fingers attached to their
hands. A lot of them haven't had a lot of experience home building.
I hear you've been
successful and that there are more builds on the way uh
and just keep up i i say this you know as
somebody that's been talking to you
but keep up the great work uh not only with yourself but the
volunteers here and restore as well it's inspiring
to be in a store like this where everybody is on
the same page and working towards that mission
to making sure those individuals have homes as well
so mark thank you for your time this morning it
is Habitat for Humanity ReStore we're at the
Germantown location, guys. West Bend, Beaver Dam,
we talked to the managers from there. They're all
the same mission. You can find your supplies
and some really good items here at the Germantown
location starting at nine o'clock today.
Thanks again, Mark. Appreciate it. Great vibes, great
mission, great cause. Thanks a lot.
And taking a quick look outside right now, we're still flying
above these clouds. That's what it looks like, right?
Dealing with this dense fog advisory.
Jeff's going to break down when it ends
and also as the temperatures are going up this week.
Good morning, good morning.
Taking a live look over what I can assure you is,
in fact, downtown Milwaukee.
Hard to see it, though, because most
of the buildings are covered up by this dense fog
that we're continuing to see all throughout the viewing area here.
That advisory has been expanded and extended until 10 a.m.
and to include even more parts of our viewing area.
So, a heads up, we're going to be dealing
with this for a little bit longer this morning.
Okay, looking ahead now, some voters have referendums on their ballot.
Tomorrow, the Fox Point Bayside School District will host
an open house to go over their funding request.
The district is asking for nearly $4 million
to replace funding that was approved, I should say,
in a previous referendum, but now it's set to expire.
You can learn more tomorrow from 4.30
to 6.30 at Stormont Elementary School.
And later on today, Defense Secretary
Pete Hegseth will come back to Wisconsin.
Hegseth will be in Eau Claire touring a factory
and delivering remarks as part of his tour
highlighting American defense manufacturing.
This is video from his last trip to Wisconsin.
That's when he was in Oshkosh Corporation back in August.
