AI GeneratedThis segment from Fox Local features digital content creator Joyce Lupiani discussing trending stories, including a bold refrigerator theft in Atlanta, a stray cat rescued from a food can, and the rising Powerball jackpot.
Let's talk about what's trending on our website
and right here on Fox Local.
These are the stories that you're clicking on the most.
Let's bring in our digital content creator, Joyce Lupiani.
She's going to dig into these stories with me this morning.
Hey, Joyce.
Hi, Jasmine.
So the first story I have for you is a strange one.
So Atlanta police, right, get ready for this.
So Atlanta police are looking for four men accused
of stealing a refrigerator from a home.
police say the men broke into the home on Linda Way
in the middle of the day back in September
and APD shared surveillance video you can see it right now
on the screen these guys are just like
walking in loading up the refrigerator on the dolly thing
and rolling it back out the front
door now to me it kind of looks like they're wearing like
a uniform they all seem to have
on like blue shirts and everything
but you can clearly see these guys and Atlanta police say
that they are investigating this as a burglary
and Crime Stoppers is offering like a reward up to
five thousand dollars for information leading police to these men.
Wow this is a crazy story
here Joyce and very bold move
from the suspects here it seems like it was planned out dressed up
they arrived to this home dressed up
and just move the refrigerator out the front door question is
how did they get in in the first place right
and like I said I mean they are wearing they're all
wearing like these blue shirts you can clearly see
their faces this happened back in September
So I'm not real sure why they have not been able to find these men,
but they just now released a video and they are looking for them.
And I do remember when we talked about this story first.
So hopefully they are able to find the suspects and,
you know, return the property to its rightful owner as well.
Yep, me too.
So the next story is a little bit lighter.
It's like a case of real life.
Uh-oh, SpaghettiOs.
so we saw this on Facebook
the Lee County Animal Control they posted a video of a rescue of a
stray cat that got its head stuck
in a SpaghettiOs can oh no this video i know right
look at that it's terrible um the video is only like 22 seconds long
but it's already been viewed
like thousands of times
on social media i mean you can see right there they do get the can off
the head of the cat and you know according
to their post you know the cat is fine but you know
they're reminding everyone you know that you need
to secure your trash even if you don't have
animals there might be like animals
in the neighborhood that could get into your trash
and like get their head stuck in a situation like
this and it may not you know have a happy ending
next time so you know they're they're using
this real video to just try to get out the message for
people to be careful with their trash yes
be careful with your trash don't litter um some
very important reminders there this afternoon
so sad i hate seeing videos like this you know we
see the videos of the animals
or the um the the animals in the ocean that are constantly
trapped in our trash different birds right getting yeah does uh what
do you what do you call those
things the rings that goes around
the the can bottles yeah that's what i'm thinking of too
right and then also like you know
when the birds get covered with the oil and everything so
yeah i mean uh unfortunately the animals sometimes suffer you know
from our modern day conveniences
and we really do have to kind of pay more attention
to what we're discarding to help
you know protect the animals absolutely well let's get
into this story too i know many people
are probably going to head over to their local gas station
because the Powerball has increased
and, you know, some good news.
Yeah, yes, it is up to $635 million.
The last big Powerball jackpot was won back
on August 12th for an estimated $1.4 billion,
and that ticket was sold in Illinois.
Now, I looked it up, and the last big Powerball win here in Georgia
was for like $1 million, and that was back in September.
So, it's been like a couple months, and that was down in Brunswick.
So, I definitely think it's time for somebody up here to win a big one.
And, you know, just in case you're wondering,
the odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are around 1 in 292 million.
And, Jasmine, I learned something new this morning.
Oh, man, you're crushing our dreams.
No.
Well, you know, somebody's got to win, though, eventually, right?
That's true.
I learned something this morning.
I did not know this, but, like, starting in July, like,
the people who live in the U.K. can now buy Powerball tickets.
Oh, wow.
So it kind of makes it harder for us.
Right?
Yeah, it kind of makes it harder for us, but it also makes,
like, the jackpot go up faster, makes it get a lot bigger.
So hopefully somebody here in Georgia, if it's not me,
at least somebody here in Georgia will win the jackpot this week
and be very, very happy.
Yes, hopefully so.
Well, you know, Joyce, if you do win the jackpot,
you can always share some of that with me.
I'll be happy to take some of that off your hands.
I can't make any promises.
You probably won't ever even see me again.
Sorry.
I understand, Joyce.
Well, thank you so much for joining us.
to talk about what's trending on Fox Local and Fox5Atlanta.com.
