Right now on Fox 35 News, a fake shooting threat at a local high school
and deputies say it was designed to frame a student.
Good evening and welcome. I'm Jack Royer. Hi there.
I'm Hannah McKenzie. Somebody allegedly impersonated that boy
and called it in a threat to the school.
But cops say it was a setup designed to frame the victim
of a brutal beatdown. Fox 35's Alexis Clevenger joins us live
from Harmony High School right now. Alexis, a lot with this one.
A little bit complex, confusing. Break it down for us.
for us. Well Hannah and Jack, deputies actually had
to sit down with the victim of that attack
just last night because they say that somebody tried
to make it seem like he was to blame for
those threats but they determined that that wasn't the case at all
and now they're working to find
out who's actually responsible. First it
was a fight, nine teens allegedly attacking one student
who stood up for a girl who was being bullied at lunch
then a threat that sent deputies looking
for answers. Last night the Osceola County
Sheriff's Office got a tip saying the victim
of that fight planned to show up
to the Harmony High School football game tonight and carry out
a shooting. After the investigation was conducted it
was determined that the information received
was bogus and there was no way possible
that the victim could engage in that type of behavior. But
that wasn't the end of it. Today an alleged text message
was circulating that a shooting would
would happen at the school.
Investigators say that threat was also false. We're not going to
tolerate this type of joke behavior
or any misinformation that is put out intentionally
to deviate an active investigation
or any other resources that put in for the safety of the kids.
The school district sent us a statement saying in part,
quote, we want to reassure our families
and community that Harmony High School has
not been placed on lockdown at any time today.
They say safety and well-being of students
and staff is their highest priority.
Now, all of this is still under investigation.
The Sheriff's Office did say that more arrests could be coming.
Now, there is a football game tonight at Harmony High School.
That game is still going to go on,
but there's going to be some extra measures in place to
make sure that everyone is safe.
I'll break all of that down coming up ahead at six o'clock.
For now, live in Osceola County, Alexis Clevenger, Fox 35 News.
