Well, some Brewers fans thought they had tickets to tonight's game,
and then this happened this morning.
They got some bad news.
StubHub said it couldn't deliver their tickets after all.
Can you imagine?
Jenna Sachs has been looking into this.
She joins us live in the newsroom.
With one man, he paid thousands of dollars more,
Jenna, for different seats.
He did.
I spoke with that Oconomowoc man
who had three tickets to tonight's game.
He bought them the morning after
the Brewers won game three against the Dodgers.
His name is Ron Richa and the tickets were for him,
his wife and their 11-year-old son.
He says there were warning signs that something was wrong
because his tickets didn't arrive.
He says he messaged StubHub repeatedly,
virtually asking after them and was told just to be patient.
Then at 1 a.m. this morning, he got an email saying there
was an issue with his tickets and he needed to find replacements.
Richa says the only tickets he could find
at that point were no longer together and cost more.
He says as a loyal Brewers fan, it was upsetting.
I was four years old. I don't remember when they went last time,
but my boy will remember it.
And I've been a lifelong Brewer fan through the thick
and the thin, and my heart stopped.
And I just kind of, I almost feel like I went in cruise control
and just kind of put everything on pause for a minute
and just went and dealt with it and got the tickets.
so Richa ended up getting two tickets in one section
and one ticket in another section he
had to pay $4,600 more than he did
the first time StubHub's policy is that fans get tickets to an
event or their money back it refunded Richa's
original tickets he doesn't feel like that's
enough StubHub tells us sellers were unable
to complete a limited number of World Series orders
We know how much this means to Milwaukee fans,
and we're working to get as many of them as possible into the game.
Ben and Kim, I hope they're successful doing that, because I know
this is just devastating for people who thought they were going,
and maybe there are people out there
who can't pay more for their seats.
Yeah, and there's this thing called speculative sellers
who will sell you tickets.
They don't even have the tickets yet.
I'm not sure if that's what happened in this case,
but the people who are selling think they're going to have the seats,
and then, oh, wait a second, this is the most
expensive World Series ever,
and maybe the seller never had the tickets to begin with.
Right. This is a problem with these kinds
of third-party resellers, right?
You connect the seller directly with the buyer,
but if something wrong happens with the seller,
you're kind of out of luck
because these tickets are not in possession of the reseller website.
Right, yeah. We'll get you in.
They're not together. Sorry, 11-year-olds.
Yeah. They're going to take turns sitting with the 11-year-old.
the headache of, you know,
often it's a chat bot that you deal with first and, you know,
it's so hard to get a person. So I just can imagine just
the heartache, the frustration,
the anger. Jenna Sachs, thanks for the update.
