Video Summary
AI GeneratedSubtropical Storm Josephine has lost its tropical characteristics and is moving into the North Atlantic, though it continues to produce strong winds and large surf. While no tropical formations are expected in the next seven days, meteorologists are monitoring a potential area of low pressure east of the state and near the Bahamas for late next week.
Thanks for logging on to myfoxhurricane.com.
38 days left in the hurricane season.
The last couple of days we've
been talking about subtropical storm Josephine.
Well, it's no more.
They're not issuing advisories.
It's not that the system has gone.
It's just lost those tropical characteristics.
So still an area of low pressure,
still some pretty strong winds with this,
and that is also producing some large surf along the coastline.
But as we go through the weekend,
it will move out over the open waters of the North Atlantic.
Wave heights showing they are dying down or they're diminishing along
the northeastern coast as you head up towards Nova Scotia.
Still looking at those increased wave heights and those winds,
60, 70 miles an hour close to the center of this system.
But as far as tropical activity,
no tropical formation expected over the next seven days.
this time of the year what we're really focusing
in on it's the Caribbean and over into the Gulf
and it is completely clear across the Gulf you do see some clouds
but really nothing of any substance
for now down across the Caribbean now there
is one area that the tropical cyclone outlook is
highlighting as we head towards the end of next week
and into the following week and that is to
the east of our state down into the Bahamas as well
and I'll show you why you look at the Fox
weather model and we actually are going to be watching
for just a general area of low pressure
forming to our east you see all
this moisture being pulled up out of the Caribbean so we have
to watch as we head through next week heading towards next weekend
do we start to see this
area starting to acquire some tropical characteristics
if it does well we may have yet
another tropical or subtropical system trying
to develop to the east of the state that would be
sliding looks like on to the north and east
but that's the one area that will focus in and we will
be watching as we go through the weekend
and into next week and of course we'll keep you updated
