But first tonight, a former D.C. preschool director has pleaded guilty
to trying to obtain child sex abuse material.
Regina Arida is in Cleveland Park now with more
on that investigation and what happens next.
And this is a former D.C. preschool director who recently admitted
to trying to obtain child sexual abuse material after pleading guilty
in a federal court.
Take a look.
This is 55-year-old James Carroll,
the former director of the National Child Research Center.
He was arrested in November 2024.
Prosecutors say the investigation started after Discord reported
suspected child sexual abuse material uploaded to its servers.
investigators traced the account to Carroll
and say they found messages discussing the sexual
exploitation of children court documents say Carroll
also communicated with an undercover officer
posing as the father of a nine-year-old boy allegedly asking
for photos and encouraging
the father to abuse the child the u.s attorney's office says
no students or parents from the school
were involved in the allegations now Carroll's sentencing
is set for march 4th he faces a
minimum sentence of five years.

President Barack Obama there
on the campaign trail in Cleveland today,
now just 10 days out from the midterms.
It is his first campaign rally this election cycle,
and on stage, a former president criticized the campaign ad,
that controversial ad you'll
member from gubernatorial Republican nominee Vivek Ramaswamy
in Ohio against his Democratic
challenger, Amy Acton. Former president
also criticized actions President Trump has taken
in his second term. After two years of chaos
and cruelty and corruption and incompetence,
the likes of which we have not seen in modern times,
you get a chance to say enough's enough.
Meanwhile, President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump casted
their ballots early in Palm Beach County, Florida, today.
While he was at the polls, the president told reporters
he will consider potential presidential pardons
to protect members in his own administration.
The president then held a rally of his own in Perry, Georgia.
Turning now to weather, time on this Saturday night is 11.02.
We've got a live look from our Fox 5 Skycam at National Harbor.
Jen joins us now with a check on this forecast.
I know it's a little chilly for some people's
taste early in the morning and at night,
but I think this weather is like as good as it gets.
Yeah, it is.
It's really nice weather right now.
Yeah, it's a little cool in the morning, but you know what we do?
We sleep in a little bit later because we're working nighttime,
and we don't even have to worry about that chill in the morning.
But for you early risers and for the people
who are going to be heading out to the Marine Corps race,
it's actually going to be really nice running weather.
So happy for that and no rainfall.
We're going to start off tomorrow morning
with lows in the 40s and the 30s, 40s in D.C.
A sunny day high of 67.
Here's the view outside.
This is out in D.C., and I know a lot
of people in town for the big race.
Dew points right now in the 40s.
Our winds are light and calm,
and that is going to allow for that crisp start to your Sunday morning.
We look at our temperatures all across the region
from Germantown towards Upper Marlboro,
Waldorf, 50 degrees for you, Fairfax and West Springfield at 44.
But tonight, it will be a chilly night with those light winds.
We're going to see some frost setting up
for all these counties in Ballou.
And that's for you, Frederick, Loudoun,
as well as into Fauquier County, down towards Culpeper,
and then western regions of the Montgomery County region.
So here is high pressure.
It's looking cool.
We've had spectacular weather.
Today's day seven.
And we're going to add to it potentially going 14 days without
rainfall, cold front all the way out towards the west.
But this ridge is blocking everybody from rainfall,
people in the northeast, New England.
everybody is enjoying the dry condition
so here's your planner for tonight tomorrow morning there's
a low 44 degrees in dc 30s in the suburbs
and then tomorrow afternoon high temperature 67 dc
some lower 60s to the north it's very close
to seasonable for this time of the year but Sydney
we do have some 70s in the forecast
and we're going to take a look at your halloween forecast
in just a few minutes Jen we'll be back
with you soon let's get to some other top headlines
we are following for you tonight a woman has died after she
was hit by a car in Prince George's
County. Police say that woman was struck
on the 8800 block of Greenbelt Road around 1130 last
night. She was pronounced dead at the scene
and police have not yet identified her. The driver
though we know remained on scene according to police
and is cooperating in that investigation.
Two Hamilton residents are safe after
an accidental house fire. You can see the
pictures of damage here on your screen.
Loudoun County Fire Rescue responded to the home on
Downs Court late last night.
One firefighter was taken to the hospital with a minor injury.
two cats died in that fire.
Officials say the fire, it left $860,000 in damage.
Investigators do believe improperly discarded rags
are actually what sparked that fire.
And tonight, D.C. police are searching
for a suspect after a burglary in Southeast. Take a
close look at the surveillance video here on your screen.
We're told it happened at a store
on Barnaby Road back on September 20th.
Again, that suspect seen here in these still images as
well. Officials say that man took property
but did not specify what property he took.
If you have any information, you can go ahead and contact MPD.
A major legal battle is heating up
in Alexandria as a grieving family is demanding
justice in federal court.
Sandra Jones filed a lawsuit against the city and two police officers
Thursday on what would have been her son's 34th birthday.
He died in police custody last year.
I sat down with Ms. Jones for an interview
and I reviewed body camera video leading up to her
son's final moments. I do want to warn you what you
are about to watch is disturbing. It's been
more than a year since Alan Tucker II died
in Alexandria police custody. Tonight his mother
says she's finally ready to break her silence after filing
a federal lawsuit against the city
and two officers involved.
I thought they were gonna help him take him get him some help not
leave him in a car to die.
Tucker was arrested for public intoxication August 15, 2025. His
mother's suit claims he was under the influence of drugs
and hallucinated, that his own family
was among those who called police,
thinking officers would get him help. In obvious distress,
body camera video captures Tucker asking
for police officers to take him to the hospital.
He remained in the back of a cruiser for close
to 45 minutes before officers discovered he'd
become unresponsive heartbreaking
to hear somebody begging for help
and you just ignore it
tucker's cause of death was ruled cardiac arrest caused
by an overdose according to the suit
his mother believes had her son been given medical care
the commonwealth's attorney previously ruled
tucker's death was accidental no charges
were filed against the officers involved the civil
lawsuit, though, alleges as a result of their failures,
Allen was deprived of timely and
necessary medical care, suffered mentally and physically, and died.
I cry every day. I cry
every day. Making matters worse, she said,
when she received a box of her son's property,
including his clothes and fingernail clippings.
APD accidentally included the handcuffs and seat
belt used on her son the day he died.
I already knew that he died in a car.
Then you're going to
send me the seat belts and handcuffs.
I was traumatized. He's just another case to them,
but he's a loved one to us.
The Alexandria City Council earlier this year voted to keep
investigating Tucker's death.
Neither the city or police department initially responded to our
request for comment, but I did hear back from a spokesperson tonight
who said they do not comment
on pending litigation. The new report out tonight reveals
that free school lunches are disappearing
from students all across the country.
This comes, we know, as federal food assistance programs
undergo some deep funding cuts.
New eligibility rules for SNAP are leaving fewer families
automatically eligible for free meals,
while schools face growing lunch debt and rising costs.
At home here in Northern Virginia,
some districts say they are already feeling the impacts.
Districts that I've talked to are not turning away children.
Everyone is getting a meal,
And that's kind of where the debt conversation comes in,
where because students are still coming to the lunch line,
you know, no one wants to deny a child a meal.
And so the school is feeding the kid anyway.
But, you know, if they are not paying, then their lunch debt accrues.
More than five million people, including about two million children,
have lost SNAP benefits since last year.
Baltimore band Turnstile wrapping up
a big show right by the Washington Monument.
There, organizers estimate 60,000 people attended
the free concert with donations going toward humanitarian aid
for people in Gaza, Sudan, and Lebanon.
So far, more than $150,000 raised.
The Grammy winners continue to draw large crowds
and even appeared on Saturday Night Live this month.
We've both been at Turnstile before.
It literally Turnstile.
I went to their free concert in Baltimore a year ago.
Amazing.
My best friend, one of my best friends,
got a permanent scar on his nose.
It was incredible.
The vibes, the people, even
though you were moshing and hitting each other,
it was so respectful.
It was so amazing.
Turnstile, global phenomenon for a reason.
Am I right, Robbie?
Yeah.
There's a reason we were seeing Grammy nomination billboards.
I remember working over in Remington,
and we had billboards going off off of 83.
And it was like two times Grammy nominated.
And they deserve it, really.
They're great.
We love them.
The concert never enough for music fans.
They also kept a pop-up shop very busy in Penn Quarter.
Afterwards, the band took over the original site
of the iconic venue, the 930 Club,
a nod to the groups that paved the way for them.
Coming up tonight, the NFL responding
to security concerns with ongoing protests across Paris.
We'll be right back.
I ain't proud of all the punches that I've thrown.
The name of someone I no longer know.
Nearly half a million protesters have hit the streets across France.
Rallies have been held now over soaring living costs.
This follows student demonstrations that have
been ongoing now for several weeks.
France deployed 70,000 police officers nationwide.
Some responded with tear gas and cannons.
Authorities say 1,000 arrests
were made today amid some injuries and damage to property.
The NFL is still planning to keep Sunday's Saints
and Steelers game as scheduled in Paris.
The league shut down its pop-up shop, though,
along with the fan experience called the NFL House.
Amid those widespread protests,
fans were told about the closures through the NFL's OnePass app.
Security concerns have overshadowed the league's debut there in Paris.
And hundreds of protesters in Rome forced their way into the Colosseum.
People are rallying there over a number of reasons,
including the war in Gaza, along with living costs.
Similar protests were also held last week in Milan
and other parts of Italy.
I'm going to turn now to weather with a live look
from our Arlington camera overlooking the monuments.
Jen, as a final check on our forecast, Jen,
pretty good weather today for that concert
and not looking like bad weather tomorrow for the marathon either.
No, it was fantastic weather for that concert
and fantastic for the Marine Corps race tomorrow.
I mean, it's shocking just how nice the weather's been.
Today marks day seven.
Tomorrow will be day eight where we haven't had any rainfall.
And we might even go 14 days
because they don't have any rain in the seven-day forecast.
Speaking of seven, Halloween seven days away.
Next Saturday, we fall back next Sunday,
and that means sunsets in the 5 o'clock hours.
So for tomorrow morning, it's going to be chilly.
We'll see some areas of some frost, but it's going to warm up nicely.
We'll see average temperatures close to 67 degrees.
It's dry outside.
Our winds are light, and it's going to be the perfect setup
for some frost to set up for your Sunday morning.
And as we see those low temperatures getting down into the 30s,
we're already in the 40s.
44 degrees in Bowie, 44 in Fairfax, and then 43 degrees in Beltsville.
But for D.C., our low will be right around 44
as we start off your morning.
Now, here are the frost advisories anywhere you're seeing in blue.
Kind of the same areas yesterday, Frederick, as well as Loudoun,
Montgomery County, down towards Culpeper, and into Fauquier.
Now, temperatures will be close to 34 degrees for a couple hours,
and that means some of those sensitive plants can have some problems.
But we know the growing season ended for anywhere west of I-81.
Now, as we look at our satellite and our radar,
high pressure, it's locked in for us.
We had a few clouds today with our winds coming
in from the east, but it was fantastic.
And for tomorrow, we're going to see that as well.
High temperature tomorrow, 67.
And then we'll warm it up a bit more on your Monday
as we'll get our temperatures closer to 70 degrees
as our winds will be coming out of the west.
So here's your planner tomorrow morning.
So many people in town for the Marine Corps race, 40s in D.C.
Then we quickly warm up to 61 at 12 o'clock
and then 65 degrees about 3 o'clock.
And we stay dry for the next couple of days.
These are your high temperatures tomorrow,
67 in D.C. and 65 in Manassas and 63 degrees in Martinsburg.
Now we look at the weather long term.
We're going to start off on Tuesday.
Notice we have a few more clouds showing
up Tuesday as well as Wednesday.
That is due to a front that's going to be coming through.
Then we go into your Thursday and Friday warming temperatures up.
We'll get back into the 70s as high pressure shifts to the east.
And that means Saturday will be dry for Halloween.
Chance maybe for some rainfall late Sunday into Monday.
But again, this is the European model.
But right now for the next seven days, there's no rain in the forecast.
So how does that affect us with our drought conditions?
The good news is we're doing great.
This is the very latest coming in just this past week.
And we're seeing just abnormal to moderate,
and this is a big improvement over what we were seeing before.
Now, if you were thinking about going out to look for some leaves
tomorrow, there are some color changes setting up to the far west.
But tomorrow morning, these are your low temperatures,
30s around, 34 for Frederick, 35 in Manassas, and then 44 in D.C.
And then tomorrow afternoon, there's your high, 67.
And then on Monday, 70 degrees, 69 on Tuesday,
partly cloudy, a little bit cooler on Wednesday.
And then we rebound on Thursday and Friday.
Temperatures in the low to mid 70s.
And Halloween looks fantastic.
Nothing scary about it.
Dry and mild.
Sydney.
And that's what we like to hear.
Yes, it is.
Trick or treating.
Jen, thank you and have a nice night.
You too.
Up next at 11, an injury update for Ravens fans.
But the team has to say about its star QB
on the sidelines right when we come back.
Runners take off tomorrow for the return of the Marine Corps Marathon.
The race is the nation's third largest marathon.
It all begins between the Pentagon and Arlington National Cemetery.
Runners will then follow a course through Georgetown
and the National Mall before finishing at the Iwo Jima Memorial.
Over 30,000 people are expected to run this year.
One of the best marathons in the country because the Marines run it.
It's a first-timer marathon for a lot of folks,
but there's so many historic things to see.
You'll see people out there running for somebody else,
running for a purpose or a cause,
and you're running with the Marines.
There's nothing better than that.
Road closures start around 3 in the morning tomorrow.
They should wrap up by 3 p.m.
Metro trains run early tomorrow morning for the race.
Rail service starts at 5 a.m.
Once again, the Ravens will turn to quarterback Tyler Huntley.
Baltimore ruling out star QB Lamar Jackson
with a lingering ankle issue.
It'll be the third game missed due to the sprain.
The Ravens hosting the Bengals.
Kickoff set for 1 o'clock tomorrow.
Coming up, the Wizards bounce back while on the road.
Highlights from tonight's showdown in the Windy City.
Stay with us.
The Washington Spirit have two more
matches left in the regular season.
Washington hitting the road against the Kansas City Current.
Kickoff set for 5 tomorrow.
And then on November 1st, the Spirit host their final home game.
Washington already clinched their spot in the playoffs.
Washington Wizards also hitting the road
for their first time in the new season.
The Wizards taking on the Chicago Bulls at the famous United Center.
Washington managed to edge out the Bulls.
Final score, 124-120.
Next up, Washington stays on the road,
taking on the Charlotte Hornets this Monday evening.
Coming up, the best of the best in the world
of marching bands face off this weekend.
How you can see the teams compete right here in the DMV.
Then I saw her face.
Now I'm a believer.
Happening tomorrow, it is the Battle of the Bands.
Elite musicians from a number of universities,
along with HBCUs, will showcase their skills.
That big event takes over at the Secu Stadium
at the University of Maryland in College Park.
Organizers expect 10,000 people there.
The tradition kicks off at 5 p.m. tomorrow.
Tickets are available online.
