Welcome in to another edition of the H&H Podcast.
Henry Lake, Ahmaud Hicks, we're back at it.
Some things change, some things stay the same.
The thing that continues to change is the wins in the win column
for your Minnesota Vikings, and what's staying the same?
Zero.
Can you believe that this team is 6-0?
Let's go!
No, I cannot believe it, but I'll take it.
Look, we've been through a lot the last couple of years.
Been a lot of ups and downs, a lot of roller coasters.
And this is what I said yesterday on another podcast and on air.
The Vikings are finding alternative ways to win.
The first three to four years under Kevin O'Connell's tenure,
it was a pass-happy offense, very minimal run game.
You don't win unless you outscore opponents,
especially when Ed Donatell was here.
Since Brian Flores came around,
now the Vikings are finding other ways to win,
specifically this season, special teams.
Will Riker continues to outscore the offense.
That's crazy, but that's also good for your special teams phase.
Defense, back-to-back games, the Vikings have held
their opposing quarterbacks
under 100 yards passing.
That's insane.
That's insane.
So offensively, though,
they've shown flashes when they needed to drive.
But that being said, though, Kevin O'Connell and crew are showing
that they do not have to rely on the pass game to win games.
and as ugly as it's looked this year, I think that's a good sign.
You know, I don't have an issue winning ugly.
I don't.
A win is a win.
Right.
And I think that the thing that makes me feel good about this team,
even though the offense has continued to struggle somewhat,
it's been very inconsistent.
It's just the consistency on the other side with the defense.
Yeah.
I don't know how you feel about it, but, man,
that has to be the best game that Blake
Cashman's ever played in his life.
Oh, yeah.
I mean, he's been a good player, and he is a good player.
But that has to be the game of his life.
Twelve total tackles, eight solo, two tackles for losses,
three quarterback pressures, four passes deflected, and two sacks.
Yeah, that's amazing.
I mean, that puts you in the Pro Bowl.
For sure.
I mean, that's amazing.
I said this yesterday.
I'll say it again.
I think people underestimate how good Blake Cashman is,
And I think people underestimate what he means to this defense.
And I'll raise my hand.
I've underestimated him at times.
I've seen the flashes.
Yeah.
But, like, there's a lot of things that you have to go back
and look at the game a second time around
to actually see what he's done.
And I think – I like to take it back to last year,
opening week versus the Chicago Bears.
He pulls his hamstring out the next four weeks.
The next four weeks of that season,
the Vikings couldn't stop a nosebleed.
The Vikings defense was getting gashed all game long.
Cashman comes back, they finish the season top 10.
Cashman's here and healthy this season.
They're a top 10 defense.
This is the epitome of the quarterback
position, Blake Cashman, that is,
the green dot signal caller.
He is the quarterback of the defense.
He is what Kyler Murray is to the offense.
That's what he is to the defense.
Without Blake Cashman, everyone gives
a lot of credit towards Harrison Smith,
rightfully so.
But Blake Cashman is now that guy that's getting us into checks.
He's moving defenses over here.
He's moving players here when Harry's not on the field.
Without Blake Cashman, the Vikings are not 6-0 right now.
With him, though, and Andrew Van Ginkel,
man, they're a scary group to face.
You know, the funny thing about the Vikings' defense
is that there are times where they just look average.
And listen to me for a second.
I know that they're not an average defense.
They're nothing like being average.
They have supermen with superpowers.
They are exceptional.
but when I say that there are moments like
the start of the game when they give up the
touchdown to Jonathan Taylor yeah and then you're looking
and you're like i didn't expect that to
happen but this is the rub i don't care what happens
in the first quarter at the start of
a game or second Brian Flores adjustments
crazy crazy crazy he does it's like it's like
the thing that i love about him is that he's measured
and there's no panic, I love no panic
I love, because the blitz rate
was 85% yesterday on Daniel Jones' drop back,
the former Viking.
But what I love was you didn't see a lot of the creative blitzes
until the second half.
He's like, let me see what you got.
Let's play chess a little bit.
You playing checkers right now.
I'm going to play chess.
So you show me what you got, what formations you got,
and I'm going to show you what we got in the second half.
And one of those plays that he had on Blake Cashman's sack,
where he basically started out, I want to say like in a five technique,
and he stunned it that way and it whipped all the way back around
and came through the one spot.
and it's like my a three-man stunt for people at home
who are listening to this you're like what in
the world is a three-man stunt just think about you got a b c
and a is where you want your blitz
to go c is where the guy is so just line them up
you know just space them out c comes all the way
over from on the right side all the way to where
a is and replaces a that's so hard to do your
secondary has to hold up for that to happen
everybody else has to be on the same page for
that to happen and your guy has to have speed to close the deal
which Blake Cashman has I just
think yesterday he put on a master class of how
to play linebacker get what people don't understand
so people look at Brian Flores's blitzes see seven
or eight man at the line of scrimmage and they
just think oh man he's crazy he's sending everybody
no no no no what he's doing is he's dictating
where you go with the ball so if you have two wide receivers
on your right and you see five guys
coming over there you're taught as a quarterback I throw to the blitz
because they're coming this
way they don't have anybody back there
but Brian Flores is like I want you to think that now I got
one of those guys dropping to take away your wide receiver
that's coming to to do a slant I got my
safety clouded down to go take away that in breaking route
so now the quarterback drops right
he thinks he knows where he's going he drops back
and he's like oh crap they covered up where i'm
supposed to go and by the time you look left
the blitz is there yeah yeah it's a wrap it's a wrap
Like, he's a genius, man.
And I love how the national commentary around him is like,
yeah, if this dude still doesn't have a job.
Then you know the owners are blackballing.
Yeah, yeah.
It's a no-brainer now.
If any offensive coordinator has the equivalent of success
that Brian Flores has had year in and year out,
there will be a ton of teams lined up to hire them
to be their next head coach.
What Flores is doing is nothing short of remarkable.
But what the NFL is showing us
is how they're colluding with one another
and keeping this man out of a head coaching position.
There's no way that, and I'm not knocking this coach,
but there's no way that Raheem Morris gets a second chance
and Brian Flores doesn't.
There's just no way.
And Raheem Morris, I think at some point,
might get a third opportunity,
you know, depending on how things shake out.
But it just, but, you know, we love him here, man.
He's been spectacular, but that defense is eaten.
it's a lot of coaches it's a lot of coaches that fail up
and continue to get opportunities after
failing the opportunities that they had you can look
at Mike McCarthy won one Super Bowl with the
Packers didn't do a lot towards the end of Aaron Rodgers tenure
then he goes to Dallas doesn't do
anything there then he gets done there
then he goes to Pittsburgh hasn't won much i mean that's
just how it is in the professional sports realm
like coaches get fired up i've asked someone asked
me that before they said why do you think that i said
because coaching is the only profession
when you're not a black coach where you can
fail multiple times have losing records at multiple
stops and still get another head coaching job I
also think that this with Brian Flores I think
he's the type of individual that will
be really really careful about where he would want to go
for his next stop you got to because I think
that in his position specifically he gets one more shot
at this because of all the backstory
and all of that so for you know like for instance somebody
has said to me like a month
or so ago they're like oh man dude he'd be the perfect fit in Dallas
nah don't go deal with Jerry Jones it will
not pan out well you can't have him with the owner
that has back in the day yeah we got it he has
to be very very meticulous in terms of doing his
research on where he wants to go
and feel really really comfortable about I agree he has to go to
an ownership group that's going to support him
1,000%, they're going to be able to
forgive the past and forget whatever
narratives or whatever storylines
are out there about his past. They have to be able
to let that go and let him
do his thing. They have to give him a big
leash. It can't be like we see with a lot of
blackhead coaches in a lot of professional sports
where you've got a year or two now.
You don't get it done in a year or two. We're going to
get you up out of there.
We're going to go get somebody we really wanted
for this job. I hate to see that with a lot of coaches.
That's the reason why Mike Tomlin's not rushing
to get back either. And what he said, he's getting
the same type of pay at network for half the work,
which is, we know what that is.
You know, getting back to the game, though,
I love the return of Jordan Mason.
I didn't think that there was a ton of room
for him to run yesterday.
Yeah, it was tough.
I think that he did all right,
but it was important to get him back
and have he be somebody that they could lean on.
For sure.
Because Aaron Jones and Aaron Jones,
they're going to take a look and make sure
he's good to go, whatever.
he's been playing through nicks and pains
and sprains and stuff like that he needs a little
bit of downtime yeah i think aaron needs a couple of games off
but he's an alpha male like he's not
taking time off he told me his recovery process sleeps
in the hyperbaric chamber about three to
four hours really tries to get in a day uh on his recovery days
and stuff like that so he's very
dedicated to his craft and his body
but jordan mason i think people forget like he came from
the san francisco 49ers where
when christian mccaffrey one of the game's best backs future
hall of famer went down with an injury jordan mason stepped
in until he got hurt yeah and he
was going for over 100 yards and a touchdown in the game
so it's like this is a guy who's shown
he can carry the load when needed he just hasn't
been needed here in minnesota but i think he will
be needed coming up i think also
though give credit to the colts defense like their record
is not good but they played well yesterday they played like
a team that if they just had a couple
bounces go their way they could be a competitive team i think
this is a team that started not
in two last year. They play like a
team that's embarrassed with their record, and
they know that their GM just got fired. And they
play like they know they had to go put some good tape
on for them. So they did. They just ran up
against a really good defense, and Daniel Jones
showed the rest of the Vikings world
why the Vikings were good without
Daniel Jones. Like, I know a lot of people made
a lot of conversation about that.
We had Daniel Jones. We had Sam Darnold.
Sam Darnold's in another conversation.
Daniel Jones is over here.
Alright? So, like, be happy
you didn't have him, because we got a small
sample size of what maybe would have been had he been here
when you face a top defense that can get
after the quarterback so nonetheless vikings got
the big win up next they take on the detroit lions
on the road detroit started the year two
and two back-to-back wins last week um and this past week
they didn't look great versus the packers their defense is not great
but they did get some help
brian branch came back safety kirby joseph still trying
to figure things out that i still think the
Vikings are the favorite though I haven't seen
the odds come out yet but I think they're the
favorites in this game yeah I the thing
that concerns me about this matchup is that Jameer
Gibbs is somebody that at times you can bottle up
but you can't bottle them up two weeks in a row
that's just that it's impossible to bottle them up two weeks
in a row let me ask you this though
so when Jameer Gibbs was good really really good against
the Vikings two touchdowns a game etc
it was when David Montgomery was here it
was when David Montgomery could come in and pass
protect. I think Jahmyr Gibbs could come in
and be that change of pace back. Now, Jahmyr
Gibbs is the lone back in that
backfield where you have to pick up blitzes.
You have to... He's been phenomenal
at that. He's been okay.
But last year, he was exposed
by the Vikings for that.
We saw Jonathan Taylor, who was regarded as
a pretty good pass protector.
Look how he looked yesterday. He was chasing around
Dallas Turner and all the Vikings defensive line.
I think that's the one way to take Jahmyr
Gibbs out the game. You make him pass
protect. You stop a couple of runs.
Now, make him pass with that.
Go put a helmet in his chest every single time.
Make him feel those hits.
That's one way to take him out of the game.
Yeah, I still, I just think that Detroit,
looking at the missed opportunities that they had yesterday.
That's every week, though, with them.
Yeah, but one thing they did against the Packers yesterday
that they hadn't done all year,
they hadn't been turning it over like that.
They've been taking care of the football.
They had a bunch of turnovers yesterday.
I mean, even Jahmyr Gibbs fumbled.
His teammate knocked it out, K. Mays.
Yeah, that was in the red zone.
So all I'm saying is that, yes,
I believe that the Vikings leave Detroit with a victory,
but that's going to be – they're going to leave Detroit with a victory
if the offense can put up a touchdown or two.
If we don't put up a touchdown or two offensively,
no, you ain't working out with them.
Agree.
Offense has to score, throw
for more than 57 yards like they did last year on Christmas
versus Detroit where they beat them and got,
what, four takeaways or something like that.
So offense will have to come to life eventually.
Kevin O'Connell said after the game they're not far away.
I think when I watched the All-22 copy,
there are moments where they're leaving some plays on the field.
And if they could just get those plays, make those layups,
this could be a very scary team.
And I do think that the mentality from Detroit going into this game is,
we're at home, they're undefeated, this is a must-win game.
Absolutely.
Which means that it's going to be a boring, defensive-led game.
It's going to be under 20 points on both sides.
So, one team will have 17, 19, 20.
The other team will have 14.
That's how I'm predicting it.
So, over, under, about 35 and a half for this game.
That's how I'm looking at it.
Now, let's talk about the Gophers.
P.J. Flagg and crew.
So, I think the last time we taped this podcast, Henry said
that they would only possibly win two more games out of the last six.
Well, like, they got one.
Man.
They got one.
Huge victory for the Gophers.
Taking out a number 15 Iowa team.
And this is the thing that just makes me scratch my head.
And I said this yesterday to Ron Johnson,
Gopher great up in the press box at US Bank Stadium.
Hall of Famer.
I said, why is it that when the Gophers look like the matchup
does not benefit them at all and they are going to lose, they win?
But when you predict them to win, they find a way to lose?
Like, how does that work?
Okay, so here's my thing.
Maybe I'm the odd man out.
And you've seen it.
The Purdue game, you remember I said I thought Purdue could win
because I thought Purdue could push the ball down the field,
thought they had a talented rushing attack.
When I watch Iowa every week, nothing about Iowa moves the needle.
And I'm not trying to discredit the Gophers' wins,
but I know, like, everyone keeps bringing up to me,
will they beat Washington, will they beat Iowa, and they beat Michigan?
All right, well, let's call a spade a spade.
Washington's not that good.
They were ranked at the time, but they're
not going to finish the season ranked.
Michigan's not good at all this year.
They're nowhere near the Michigan we've seen in years past.
But those are good wins.
You win.
Now, this team this past weekend, Iowa ranked 15th.
I'm like thinking to myself, you put them against any SEC team,
they're getting beat by 30.
Like, you know, like from 1 to 9 in the SEC,
they're getting beat by 25 to 30 by any of those teams.
So when I look at them and people say, this is a top 15 program,
I'm just like, ah, sorry.
Yeah, they're not a top 15 program,
but they didn't look like they have looked all year long.
They didn't.
And I think that's credit to the Gophers.
Yeah, it's credit to the Gophers,
but the physicality on the offensive side for Iowa wasn't there.
No, and they had a lot of turnovers.
But when I watch that game, I go back to my point,
and I'm looking at the Hawkeyes, and I'm like,
they're not as good as their record indicates or their ranking.
And I'm like, they only run the ball.
And that's the one thing the Gophers do well is try and stop the run.
Like, when you talk about spreading the ball out,
trying to slow down opposing teams, quarterbacks and wide receivers,
they struggle big time.
But when you talk about, hey, we're going to slow the game down,
we're going to run the ball 90% of the time
and just play action pass when needed,
That's the Gopher style of game.
At home, too, playing against a non-explosive offense.
So when I looked at this matchup,
I'm not going to say I was psychic or anything.
I didn't think they would win.
But I'm like, this is a winnable game.
Like, this is not an offense that scares you.
This is not a defense that shuts people out.
Like, this is a winnable game.
That's how I viewed that one.
And so when Drake got that drive at the end
of the game where they got that big catch
or the Hawkeyes made a mistake and they capitalized.
But it's like, this was like, all right, yeah, they're ranked.
But I was not that good.
Good job, P.J.
This is a game I thought, in my eyes,
after it started, seeing the way Iowa played,
I'm like, they should win this game.
Yeah, and I thought opposite.
I got to raise my hand and say I didn't think it
was a winnable game for the Gophers.
I didn't.
I thought that based on what I'd seen
from Iowa in some of the other games
that they had played this season,
I thought that they were going to come in here
and win by a touchdown.
Understandable.
I just think that when you're talking about ground and pound,
that fits P.J. Fleck and Mo.
When you talk about having to keep up with another team,
that's not his M.O. at all, but ground
and pound. I mean, the thing, I'm sitting here watching
the game, it's like, alright, there was one scenario
where, I think it's third and six,
no, second and six,
Iowa runs the ball,
they gain three yards. Then it's third
and three, they run the ball again.
I'm like, this is so predictable. Like, this is easy
for a defensive coordinator to stop.
They're not putting any pressure on you to really
think, you just, no, stop the run and we're going to win the game.
I actually think they got out-coached too, though.
I thought their play calling was terrible.
I think they thought they were going to do a bully ball.
At the end of the game, when they needed a touchdown, two plays,
and they were in the house to tie the game up.
I thought we would see more of that during the game,
but I'm glad we didn't.
I'm glad we didn't, too.
And Minnesota got the win.
It makes you think, though, if they beat Purdue,
probably they're a top 25 team right now.
Probably a top 25 team.
So that's the difficult thing about them.
But now they have Indiana this week, number four Indiana on the road.
So, Indiana has not looked good offensively.
Yeah, I have not been impressed.
They could have beat Ohio State,
but Nick Marsh didn't know where he was on the field.
Quarterback threw him out of bounds.
Following week, you scored, what, six points last week?
So, it's like another one of those games where people
are riding off the Gophers.
But I'm like, hold up now.
If they can kind of slow down the run with Indiana
and they can just make Nick Marsh take him out the game
or put a good corner on him,
they have a chance to win this game.
Now, I'm not expecting the Gophers to win this game.
The line on this game is?
I think it's 20.
The line on this game is?
I think it's 20, which is insane to me.
That's insane to me.
19 and a half.
Yeah.
Minnesota plus 8.50.
It's actually went down.
Oh, really?
Because it started at 20 and a half.
Total for the game is 42 and a half points.
Minnesota's a plus 8.50 right now, so you put 100.
Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
The line is basically 20, and the over-under's what?
42-and-a-half.
What?
They're expecting a route?
That's how you read that.
Yeah, I'm going to go under.
Really?
They expect Indiana to win by 20
and to score over probably 30-plus points.
That's what I'm saying.
I'm like, man, that's disrespect.
That's disrespectful.
I think the Gophers have a chance.
And y'all know I am one of P.J. Fleck's biggest critics.
I'm not putting him down.
This is a great football coach.
There's a difference, by the way,
there's a difference between being a critic and a hater.
Yes, and I give credit where it's due.
So you got credit earlier in the season for these wins.
I know at the end of the year we may look at them
a little bit differently with how teams are ranked,
but you got the wins, you got a lot of rivalry trophies,
you got a chance to get another one versus Penn State,
and you got a chance to keep the Axe versus Wisconsin.
You can go five and on rivalry games this year.
I don't care how many games you win.
If you go five and on rivalry games,
that's a win for Minnesotans around here.
So a big game coming up on the road this week.
Darius Taylor and crew, Drake Lindsey,
they're going to have to have a game on the road.
Indiana's going to want a little give back
as far as, like, getting back on track
and trying to show the world who they are.
I think P.J. Fleck, this is another opportunity
for him to show the rest of the college football world
why the expansion to 24 playoff teams next year will
be great for the Gophers
because if they can win these games and be competitive,
you talk about this team having a chance
to play for the playoffs every single year.
I love that for them.
So big game coming up, Gophers 5-2, Indiana I think 7-1 right now.
Yeah, 7-1 game at 2.30 this Saturday on Halloween.
So hopefully they bring their spooky mask and they upset the Hoosiers.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves are 3-0.
Man, they look good.
Like, it is fun.
I'm not a fan of having to pay
for subscriptions to watch my teams play.
I pay enough for YouTube TV.
I pay enough for Hulu and Netflix
and Paramount and Peacock and all this crap.
But I had to get to zone.
I couldn't miss the show.
Yeah.
And I'm kind of happy with my purchase thus far.
Yeah.
They're playing defense.
They're, man, they are.
LaMelo, too.
They are playing defense.
Even his brother.
His brother said this is the most defense I've ever seen LaMelo play.
Yep.
They're having fun.
They're knocking down threes.
Defensively, they're playing well.
The biggest thing, because remember, what did I say?
I said the biggest question I have,
I don't have a question about them scoring.
I said my question is, is how well would they defend?
They have answered the question so far.
And I think the biggest thing
that has shocked everybody in the basketball world
is they're out-rebounding everybody.
That part there, because people look at the Wolves, they say,
okay, they're going smaller.
So when they go small, you don't automatically think
that they're out-rebounding
all the teams in the league, but they're doing that right now.
Your point guard is 6'7", your shooting guard is 6'6", your small
forward is 6'8", your power forward is 6'10", your center is 7'3".
You should be rebounding.
Yeah, but at the same time, it ain't like,
you know, we got some castles lighting the cakes.
So let's not act like, yeah, I'm just saying.
People are surprised by that.
But I think that Ant has always shown he can do it.
Rudy has shown he can do it.
LaMelo is one of the best rebounding guards in the NBA.
We know that rebounding is more about want to.
Yeah, it's all about want to because you've got
to want to get around those elbows
and get bowled a little bit to get the ball.
But I think it's LaMelo, too, because he's one of those guys
that was averaging six or seven rebounds
in his career before he got here.
He's showing you, hey, when a guard gets
the ball, we can move, we can push,
we can run with pace, and that fits their MO.
Right now, I look at this team,
and I think the only thing that's making me
scratch my head a little bit is nothing.
i mean like yeah it's hard for me to nitpick at anything right now
because they're coming in waves
they have depth they're playing defense they're sharing
the basketball and it's playing out of
this world he's also showing he can play with his back
to the basket finish with his right and his
left hand it's like i just watched this team
and i'm like where's the weakness now i'm sure we'll
find it eventually when you go up against an okc
or san antonio or houston we got to see where we
stack up against the other premier teams
but right now it's like this is fun to watch like the the
hype around this team is living up to it to itself right now
and i owe trey lyles an apology because
he's better than what man he's gotten better like that year overseas
and then him returning to the
nba the thing about him is he's not a great shooter
but he's a spot-up shooter if they kick
the ball to him and he's at the three-point line
and he doesn't have a hand right in his face he
gonna nail that and that's exactly what they need
to get in the backup power forward position so and
And I love how Yohan Berger has been playing.
He's a little out of control when he's out there, but he hustles.
And that's what you need as a backup center, someone who's young,
someone who wants to guard around the perimeter,
but still go try and chase down that block
and then sprint the court to go get the alley-oop dunk.
The Timberwolves are looking scary right now,
and they have a lot of depth on their team.
And I think they can be a top-four team in the West.
I had a producer here whose name I won't mention,
but he said, I think they're going to win 65 games.
I said, 65 is a lot.
65 and 17, that's a lot.
Is that Eric?
No, it wasn't Eric.
Oh, okay, okay.
It's not Eric.
Hold on.
65 wins is a lot.
I'd say about 55, 60.
55, 60, that's a good window for them.
I think that gets them top five seed in the Western Conference,
and that's all you can ask for with this team.
Just stay healthy, get in the dance.
We had a significant injury in the NBA last night.
Did you see it?
I didn't watch the video.
I didn't want to watch the video.
I saw enough people talking about it on social media that I said,
I don't want to see that.
I've seen that type of injury before with Gordon Hayward and others.
So Jalen Williams, if you didn't know,
Jalen Williams from the Oklahoma City Thunder
has a significant leg injury.
I think he's done for the year, right?
But it's like a fracture, right?
Yeah, it was facing a difference.
Yeah, yeah.
It's tough because he got hurt last year, played through injury,
and then he had a spill
the other day where he got tripped up around half court
and rolled all the way to the hoop.
And a lot of people, he was made light about it.
That's why he was rolling so much.
Yeah, and he said, you know, coming off my injury history,
everyone thought, you know, something happened.
He's like, I'm just making light of it, like I was good.
And then two days later, compound fracture, leg going this way.
Like, it was to the point where he didn't even know what happened.
Like, he looked down and he was like,
he covered his mouth with his hands
because he didn't, like, you know, when your adrenaline's going,
you know something's wrong, but you
don't feel it necessarily right away.
He looked and was like, oh, man.
He literally, so, like, imagine your elbow,
like, you know, like, bending like this.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Oh, no, no.
This is how his leg went.
No, I know.
I'm hip because.
His leg went that way.
I'm hip because I was doing USA basketball out when.
Paul George.
Paul George got hurt.
Yeah, it was.
So, this one looked worse.
And it was bad because it was like foot
was going another way, leg going straight,
foot going another way.
And you could tell he really didn't know.
So, like, he looked down and covered his mouth
and was like, you could just tell.
He was like, oh, my God.
And then he looked towards SGA,
and then SGA pulled his jersey up in front.
Like, everyone, like, turned away.
It was one of those instances where,
like, an SGA was crying in that moment
and after the game saying he felt bad for him.
So you hate to see that Western Conference team, Oklahoma City Thunder,
one of the top favorites on the West.
Prayers up, man.
Yeah, prayers up for Jalen.
And that catastrophic injury.
So he'll be back better than ever, I'm sure, next season.
But OKC just took a blow.
And so, you know, that's sports.
They got a great team, though.
Like, he was out a bulk of last year,
and they still took steps forward.
I think that they're – I'm not going
to say they're not going to miss a beat,
but I think they're going to be fine.
Yeah, they'll miss a little beat, but they'll still be fine.
I mean, right now we're looking at it –
I mean, it's still really early in the season.
But you got six undefeated teams,
Portland, Houston, Memphis, the Lakers,
OKC, and Minnesota at the top.
So it's a fun start right now for these Minnesota Timberwolves.
The best is yet to come, we're sure.
and uh yeah oh before we oh congratulations
to Olivia Miles yeah first team all WNBA look at
that shout out the show uh
the WNBA game continues tonight uh game five Golden State back at the
Chase Center taking on the Atlanta can we just
we got three minutes left in the show WNBA Kathy
Engelbrecht whoever's over these these WNBA finals how
are we in the finals and you don't know where
they're going to play a home game
for the Atlanta Dream I understand that the Atlanta Dream haven't
made it this far in quite a while they haven't had
to think about hey well we may have a game
and the Hawks may have a game here
or this is the WNBA finals we're talking about you were
contemplating putting the game at an arena that seats 4,000 people
then they went out and sold
State Farm Arena with 18,000 people what
are we doing you don't know where game six is going to
be played and then you're sitting here talking
about well we may have to push the game back to
friday or we may have to play the game at 12
or 1 o'clock so we don't interrupt the Hawks game
later that what are we doing Kathy and i
also believe that um that people need to understand
that gaslighting in the WNBA is not going
to work uh Amber Cox was just fired as the GM of the um
Indiana Fever and she was fired basically
because she lied about the fans and toxic environment all
When Kelsey Mitchell comes out and says what she says,
then Caitlin Clark comes out and has her back and says,
yeah, I've seen some of the stuff thrown some of my teammates way.
How do you recover from that?
Like Caitlin Clark is saying, nah, nah,
we got some issues that we need to clear up.
So for her to come out as the GM and say it's a bunch of crap,
that's the reason why you're out of a job today.
Look, W's headed in the right direction,
but they've got a lot of things to shore up right now.
I think the fan base, the ticket sales, the revenue,
everything's exploding at a monumental rate right now.
And they need to get somebody at the top that's prepared for this,
that can handle it before it spirals out of control.
But I can't wait to see a great game tonight.
Golden State taking on Atlanta.
Can't wait to see what the Valkyries are able
to do or if Angel Reese gets her first WNBA title.
It'll be exciting to see.
So that'll do it for our H&H podcast.
We'll, of course, be back here next Monday after
the Vikings hopefully take down the Detroit Lions.
and after the Gophers maybe pull off another upset this year.
We'll have all that and more next week on the H&H Podcast.
