I'm not helping. It's stuck. It's getting hot. It's just foot. Officers in Holbrook rescued a driver stuck inside of a burning vehicle. The save caught on body camera footage. It happened this morning. The driver is facing charges, including OUI. Boston 25's Christine McCarthy spoke to the person who called 911 for help. While some of the damage has been repaired, you can see behind me the remnants of this terrifying scene. A tree that was snapped by an out of control jeep that then burst into flames we got wires down pull down driver witnesses say police were on scene in moments and didn't hesitate to run to the flames get out boss guys i can't i'm trying to untie this i can't don't worry about it body camera video shows the jeep engulfed in flames around 320 sunday morning the driver desperate as his foot is on fire and stuck under the crushed dashboard it's stuck it's getting hot it's just foot it's just foot he was begging for help and saying he was stuck and he was terrified that he was going to burn to death in his car shauna day had woken up to the commotion and called 9-1-1 but watched helplessly as the driver pleaded for help my gut instinct was go over there but i have three children of my own so i couldn't risk my own life and i just was trying to tell him to stay calm But the three officers, Jonathan O'Brien, Matthew Richards, and Sergeant Martin Faraday, who arrived before firefighters, worked together to pull him free. Ow! Ow! He's hurting! Just pull, just yank him. Get him out, get him out. A neighbor captured firefighters later dousing the flames. Holbrook police tell us the 37-year-old driver was impaired when he veered off Pine Street, struck a utility pole, ripping down wires, took out a tree, and crashed into a wall. The police, like, they saved this guy's life. They did a very amazing job. 5-8. Driver's out. The driver, who thanked police as he was carried to safety, faces charges including operating under the influence and speeding. Regardless of the circumstances, neighbors agree Holbrook police saved a life. I think it's amazing. It was very heroic of them. The driver suffered injuries that are not life-threatening. Police are not yet releasing his name as he'll be issued a summons for court. Officer O'Brien suffered minor burn injuries to his fingers. And as for that officer, less than a year ago, he was credited with saving the life of a man who was trapped in his burning truck.
