AI GeneratedMilwaukee Brewers fans have descended upon Florida in massive numbers for the World Series, transforming local venues into extensions of their home stadium. Reporting from Ferg's, a popular bar near Tropicana Field, Ashley Sears highlights the electric atmosphere and the surprising volume of traveling fans who have taken over the area to support their team.
Welcome back to Vox 6, everybody.
Mary Soger-Smith, so happy that you are with us
for this Brewers Party extravaganza.
We are celebrating like it's 1999 up here in southeastern Wisconsin.
But you know who else is celebrating?
Our own Ashley Sears, who has made her way to Florida just today.
Ashley, you know how the parties are here.
Kind of loud raucous.
Loud raucous.
I sound like Bugs Bunny.
Loud raucous.
How's it down there?
No.
Oh, my gosh, Mary.
We have made our way to the most electric bar.
My photographer, Eddie, arrived in Florida.
So I have a camera now, and we're at,
check this place out, at Ferg's.
Ferg's is across from Tropicana Field, and this is a raised bar, right?
This is a raised bar, and Brewers Nation have taken over here.
And this place is jam-packed.
It is jam-packed.
Did you hear that?
Did you hear the chants?
People are in town.
Listen to this.
A lot of fans in here are going to the game tomorrow.
There are some fans we met who are on vacation here,
and they said they just happened to line it up with the World Series.
I want you to meet some of these people here.
We've got Max and John.
These guys are from Sussex.
You guys are going to the game tomorrow, so just tell us.
Going to the game tomorrow.
Hopefully it's game four.
Hopefully it's the final.
And what has this trip been like for you?
It's been amazing to feel the energy building up today
and then hopefully just carry it in tomorrow and,
you know, bring a trophy back to Milwaukee.
When did you guys arrive?
This morning.
This morning.
Yes.
And did you just hit the bars right away or what?
Yeah, after a quick nap, we're out at the bars and ready to party.
And, you know, this is a Tampa Bay bar, right?
It is.
But so many people are here I feel like are pretty welcoming.
It is.
They've been really receptive to having us down here.
It's a great atmosphere, and it's kind of like visiting Milwaukee.
Are you surprised by the Brewers fans kind of taking over Tampa Bay?
When I started to hear people were starting to travel,
I thought for sure it was going to be AmFam Field South.
They were going to take it over,
and we have friends that are in there tonight,
and they said it's like 40%, 45% Brewer fans.
It's awesome.
And we were talking earlier, and you didn't know Chuck before tonight,
but you guys, you're best friends now.
We're best friends.
Chuck here is from Waterford originally, right, Waterford?
And he lives in North Carolina now.
Tell me, you're going to the game?
We're going to game four, the sweep game.
And this is Cheryl too.
Tomorrow, it's going to be a sweep.
What has your trip been like here?
Oh, it's been amazing.
When did you arrive?
We got here this morning, actually.
I forgot we've been drinking.
City last night, so yeah, just got here today.
Awesome city.
Were you nervous at all to come to, you know, enemy territory?
Milwaukee? We're great.
Everybody's been great, but it's 51% Milwaukee here.
Well, thank you guys.
You heard it from these folks here.
This place is being taken over by Milwaukee Brewers fans,
everyone in this place.
like this place is so enormous Mary it's
an outdoor bar you weave your way through there's a
ton of brewers fans in here ton of tampa bay fans as well
and everyone's just getting along
cheering throughout this game it's a lot of fun
to be out here right now and witnessing this i'm
i'm very surprised i know that the tickets
were going way down in tampa but to see that many
brewers fans make that trip
on a monday i i gotta tell you i'm very very surprised when you are did
you expect this based on what we have seen in terms of the team
and of course our loyalty to the team
you know i i reported last week i talked to a few people
who said it was it just made more sense
financially to come to these games
because the tickets were so expensive at American Family Field
it's one thing to hear that from fans
but then to actually come down here and witness it
there are so many Brewers fans down here
in Florida uh it's kind of incredible yeah i get
that it is more cost effective yeah that's awesome
and i am so glad that your photo journalist Eddie
made it there were no travel woes we just had
to do a quick what do they call it when they do a
game sub look if they tend to sub a player
or whatever we call we called an audible i don't
know that's a football term yeah yes Eddie has made it we
are together we're able to come out
out here and show you all the sights
and sounds around the area um but i mean this whole entire
place we're staying in a at a resort that's about 20 minutes from here
and there are so many Brewers
fans there we hopped into another bar that was kind
of close by that area and that place was
being taken over by Brewers fans as well uh people
are just coming together a lot of oh check it out
you know people didn't know each other before
and they're becoming fast friends
with a lot of other Brewers fans down here
which is really cool to witness
um before I let you go you just said something I paused
for a minute you're
staying at a resort we're staying
at a beach resort yes we're very grateful for
that but not a lot of time to spend by the beach
or the pool when you're
working all the time so it sounds glamorous Mary
but you've been on these
trips before you know how much work
we're putting into this so hopefully
maybe I can wake up at 6 a.m. and watch the sunrise
or something and enjoy a
little time by the water fingers crossed
I don't know how Eddie
and I are hanging on right now we were just talking about
every time we sit down it feels like I
might fall asleep right now but then the
energy in this place is just so electric that it keeps us moving
