Customer had a smart thermostat, that he took with him. But, he tried to install another thermostat himself. He blew a fuse, and picked out the wrong thermostat. In the attic I found the emergency drain pan to be cracked, and return looks li,e it has been cut open. #hvac #hvaclife #fieldpiece #trane #honeywell

I am in a vacant house, two-story,
one system, got vents in the ceiling,
and right now I'm trying
to turn on the blower,
and I've got nothing,
so let's look
for that air vent.
Nice access, I like
this. All right, we've got
2008 train, can hear the
transformer humming.
The pan, the pan has a
crack in there.
What I'm seeing, the pan
needs to be replaced.
Plastic pans may
not rust, but
they tend to break all right i'm gonna go get
my tools and i'll be right back up here it looks like
somebody has
changed his
thermostat
i see they
got orange
on b yellow i
do not see
a common
this must be something somebody bought at like Home Depot
not sure if y'all can see what i'm seeing
blue is probably gonna
be my common all right let's
um i'm gonna pop cover on the air handler
i'm imagining we have a blown fuse and uh i'm not
sure this is a heat pump thermostat i do have a
b and a
oh but no
option for
emergency
heat so uh
we'll see all
right let me
see where's
my fuse
gonna be i
can hear that
transformer
humming
this is one
of those boards
that tell you
the CFM
by the
flashes i'm
looking
for a fuse
this is i
don't carry
a fuse like
this we
have i'm
going
to put in a different kind
but this thing's solid white
not check to see if it's any good
all right i'm gonna go get
a different kind
of fuse some wire connectors
and uh go down there
and read about
that
thermostat
and putting
the ends on it
we need to use
one of those
automotive
fuses you want ends
with plastic on them
because uh they can touch
and if they touch the fuse is
no good we
got 24 volts
i can hear it
let's put this
on real quick
and i'm gonna
check these
terminals
down
there
not a
great
idea
to put
those
in the
bottom
of the
air
handler
all
right
let's
see if we uh between
blue and that looks
like red right there
28 volts all right
so we are fixing to
see about that thermostat it says right here
on this box it's compatible
with heat pumps without
backup
heat
so i'm
gonna
have
to put
on a
new
thermostat
Gree
next
we
have
programmed
this
thing it's fairly easy to do just follow
the instructions we're gonna make
this non-programmable
fahrenheit and here we go two
because it's a heat pump air
to air heat pump reversing valve
oh and cool so that's
right first let's see
if the blower will come
on i think i heard it
those
variable
speed
motors
run
really
slow
and it's
just
a call
for fan
yeah
it's
running
now
we gotta check it outside you know somebody does
a change out on this they gonna love that right
there all right
it just ramped
up blowing cold
air homeowner
is going to do
the right thing
place this pan but he wants me
to he wants me to go ahead
and put in the SS2 right now
i just
killed
power
i'm just
gonna
break
this
right
here
that's
with me
one turn
so if you
notice this drain
is just slightly higher
than the other one these
have to be straight up
and down
off to an angle that
float won't float you
know what this floats
no good whatsoever
so i'm gonna
discontinue
it until
we come
back up
and do
this pan
and i'll
see that
lovely
all the
this thermostat wires feels like i can move them
but they are going in on top of that
so i'll return to do the pan that's
something i'm gonna have to address
all right we got
that the flux
switch hooked up
that's just
that's just open
to attic air
i'm not real sure how that did
not cause a trouble call
