Good Monday evening. I'm Chief Meteorologist Emily Walls.
We had a pretty decent day today,
but we had some cloud cover across the region.
We'll have to get used to that again tomorrow.
But temperatures this entire week will be staying well above normal.
Your averages for this time of the year have overnight low temperatures
in the low 40s, high temperatures during the day in the upper 50s.
And today a lot of us were well
into the 60s for your high temperatures.
We even had a few spots tagging the low 70s well south of I-80.
But here's something that we have to talk about
for this week because of course it is
is the week of Halloween and we're going
to be talking about rain chances being a possibility
late this week and then certainly
into this upcoming weekend so here's a look at the next
five days around here we'll have dry skies Tuesday
and Wednesday there's actually going to be a few
showers that may actually move across the region tomorrow
but we have a fairly dry air mass in
place so anything that ends up showing up
on the radar I really would be surprised if those
raindrops make it down to the surface
so I'm keeping rain out of the forecast for your Tuesday
same thing on Wednesday Thursday we have
a better chance of seeing some scattered rain and then
again Friday night and then moving into Saturday
and Sunday we're going to carry the chance for
scattered showers but it's not going
to be a wash just make sure you're prepared for some passing
showers as we get toward that trick-or-treating time late
on Saturday now for tonight we have
temperatures that are going to be dropping down
to the mid 40s for most of the suburbs
low 50s in the city areas of dense fog going
to be possible tonight as well with skies becoming
mostly clear to partly cloudy
your five-day forecast tomorrow looks good we're going to be
mostly cloudy temperatures warmer than normal upper 60s
to near 70 degrees low 70s expected
Wednesday and Thursday Thursday we have
that chance of rain shower activity moving in and
then again Friday night again during the day on Saturday
but temperatures for Halloween looking
really good averages in the upper 50s
and we're actually counting on temperatures being in the
upper 60s so we're coming in about 10 degrees above normal
and i just want to throw this out
here that Halloween, the date of Halloween,
October 31st, that is actually our first average
trace of snowfall here in the Chicago area.
So the fact that we have temperatures that
are going to be right around 70 degrees
on Halloween is pretty good. We'll take it.
