Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe Orlando Magic secured a surprising 111-102 victory over the defending champion New York Knicks. The win was fueled by the return of Anthony Black and a dominant fourth-quarter performance by Franz Wagner, though the victory is tempered by a new injury to Jalen Suggs.
The real reason the Magic pulled off
this huge upset over the defending champion, Knicks,
it wasn't just Anthony Black bringing that spark off the bench
or fourth quarter Franz putting the team on his back.
Honestly, let me stop the cap.
Yes, yes, it was.
It was fourth quarter Franz, man.
We're going to get into what happened,
what we saw from last night's games,
the good and the ugly.
Today on this episode of Magic Digest, what's good with it?
It's your big unc, Eric, back in the building.
Finally get to hear the song, Orlando Magic.
Orlando.
We finally got to hear the song, man,
as the Magic pull off the win in Madison Square Garden.
We're going to get into everything that came out in that game.
But I did say that if you would have, you know,
got in on the action earlier and put some on it,
You could have did, you know, could have came out of victory,
you know, and if you're feeling kind of spicy, you think they're going
to turn this into multiple victories, possibly a road win streak.
You can check the market out
and see that something happened that they kind of upticked
a little bit in this game upcoming against the Toronto Raptors.
If you take your $25 and you put it on the Orlando Magic
to win over on Kalshi, you could turn that into $70.26
because this video was brought to you by good friends over at Kalshi.
You're trading directly against other users,
not the house like traditional sportsbooks.

Woo-wee.
So we got us a victory, man.
And I'm not going to waste your time off the bat.
We might as well go ahead and say what really sparked the comeback.
It was the return of Anthony Black.
if we look we've been waiting for the time see what he could
do in this game where the magic get
the 111 102 victory for their first victory of the season
and the Sean Sweeney era we see that
Mr. Black came back and he really was the catalyst
to get this team going before he got in the game
it looked like this was about to be a route real early
the Knicks weren't playing amazingly but
the Magic just were continuing their terrible shooting
the offense was just looking as bad as
it did in those first two games
and he immediately comes in hits a three he makes a big play and it
It was just like, oh,
we immediately see the value that this guy brings to a team, you know.
I know with the contract situations, there's been a lot of,
you know, hyperbole or people like trying to talk down,
you know, to prove their point.
But one thing you cannot distinguish
or you can't dispute, this kid can play.
And at 6'7", his height, his age,
I feel like he's only going to get better.
And if last night was, you know, any indication of that,
we're going to see what's really going to happen, man.
And you got to think about him coming in overall having 18 points
and five assists after not playing at all.
He said this was his first real five-on-five action
and that it's hard to emulate game mode when you're not playing games.
So he was a little, you know, rusty, a little, he said, tired.
so we'll have to watch for that over
the next upcoming games five made threes on seven attempts
like him and Tristan and we'll get to Tristan
but it was like finally felt like the Magic were
hitting some of these shots now we'll talk about
the three-point attempts maybe that needs to come
down but it's great that we finally started to hit some
of those and of course with Paolo being down
we're going to need as many ball handlers
as we can get this team already tend to have um an
amazing assortment of ball handlers
so to get back Black is definitely good man i'm excited to see
where he what he can do i just want to see him back full healthy
because he can be that dynamic
player that can really be the complement
for a guy like fourth quarter Franz, I mean what he put
on display last night was a masterpiece
in fourth quarter just domination just taking over you know
if we look at a guy who ends the game
with only 23 points team he had his uh he had his high
in rebounds 13 rebounds one assist away from his first triple double
so it definitely was good to
see him go out there did he still struggling
from the three-point line zero three from three but he
hit his free throws and when we look at what what he
was doing it was just like oh oh okay because
you go from the whole first three quarters not scoring anything
but two points then with about
it was about halfway a little bit more than halfway through
that fourth quarter something
hit a switch and it was like hey let's go i'd love
to see it love to see it we definitely want to see
him you know keep that up like he's going to have
to be the guy that the Magic lean on he's going to
have to be the guy that the Magic are able to lean
on more than before a lot of people and i said this
i keep saying this there is going to be a very loud part
of the fan base especially after last
night i even heard it on the podcast i believe Kevin
O'Connor is already saying are the Magic
going to be better without Paolo are the Magic going
to are they going to be a better team now
because it's just Franz which is silly to me
but when you have games like last night that's only
going to make those claims louder
so sound off below do you think that this is something
worthwhile that you think that this is i know magic fans you guys
are opinionated so let me know
what you're going to do man
and big shout out to you guys this is a comment you know again i told
you i want to get you guys up in here man
from at j ward 7549 Franz magic gotta pop or else
the whole season the law is a loss i mean that's truth
be told there was a couple of comments from
previous videos where he said if it's got we gotta depend
on Franz if we can't depend on Franz
the rest is going to be a loss of a season i
do want to give a shout out to a few other folks
Desmond Bane it was great to see him attack it again
the three point eventually did open up
because early in the game, he was kind of struggling too.
It looked like he just could not buy a bucket.
It was just interesting, but we eventually saw him attack the basket,
put the ball down, and get two easier shots.
Once that ball starts to fall, he got to the free throw line as well.
Six of eight, it felt like, okay, now I'm seeing it go in,
and his rhythm returned.
Also, another big shout out to Tristan Da Silva.
He just seems ready.
He was second on the team in plus minus with plus 20.
And it seemed like him and Anthony Black kind of helped
the team stay afloat before Franz took over in that fourth.
So definitely big shots out to everybody who came through,
played hard, and stepped it up.
But we got to talk about it.
I'm sure you've seen Jalen Suggs.
suffered that right knee injury in the fourth quarter
this is an update from Jason Beattie
of the Orlando Sentinel he had this to say
a few hours before I'm recording this this is more of
an update he said news magic guard Jalen Suggs suffered
a right knee mild bone bruise during
Sunday's game at New York the team said there
was no other structural damage in his knee
and Suggs will be reevaluated in two weeks.
That is a blessing right there, man. Big shout out to
him. It definitely looked worse, um, in real time,
especially when you guys, especially when someone
has a no contact injury. In fact,
I hurt my knee in similar ways as going up and you could feel it
buckle under you while you're jumping.
Um, there was a lot of speculation. If it was like a hyper
extension things like that it doesn't seem
to be seriously structural if he can rest a few weeks
get back out there feel good we will keep you updated
but the biggest thing is look at our
injury report right now we already knew about
Isaiah Nelson, Jonathan Isaac, Noah Pinda we already
knew they were out then we add Paolo
and now Jalen Suggs the the worst thing about it is it
really makes our rotations
that much more limited like we're looking at to me this will be my
starting lineup i know that sean sweeney did rely
on jace to start the last game and i i'm excited
that he keeps giving jace opportunities
because i want to see jace maximize his potential and i
I don't think it's too early to give up on him,
but I would say his leash needs to be short.
But I come in with a starting five of Black,
Bane, De Silva, Franz, Wendell.
That means our guard play is really going to have to be Jace,
Javon Carter, who hasn't really touched the floor.
It's going to have to get some minutes,
and we're going to be depending a lot on Bane, Banchero, and Vooch.
I mean, it's just until guys get back, until we get some wing depth,
it's going to be tough.
is going to be tough and we look at our upcoming
lineup i mean you see you see man we got those
two games against the raptors in toronto back home against
the celtics and the wizards i mean
you would say good thing after that as we get
a few games that you know you never want to take
anything for granted in the nba
but sons warriors kings jazz haven't had a great start to their
season as well. So we might be able to stack up some wins in that area,
but we got to go out there
and play who we got to play.
But this is where I ask from you,
man, what is your biggest takeaway
from yesterday's game? Is it Anthony Black's return?
Was it fourth quarter Franz? Or is it
that overall injuries are overshadowing what's going on right now?
and overshadowed the win
in general i'm gonna get up out of here man it
is your big unc eric until next time on magic digest
