I've lived here for over 20 years, and it's just getting worse.
Specifically this street, this dead-end street.
Here along East 172nd Street,
you can easily see there's hardly any room to park.
One neighbor who didn't want to share her identity says abandoned cars
on the block have become a nightmare.
Only plates, you can see a lot of cars with no plates around here.
And they're just sitting here, you know, taking up parking space.
And parking is needed in this area.
She said despite making 3-1-1 complaints,
she's felt defeated when it comes to seeing change in the area.
She claims this commercial truck without tags has
been parked on the street for roughly two years.
The owner's around here because he moves it back and forth.
The police come, look, and leave.
No ticket agents come ever.
It would be nice if the city marshals could come
and start booting these cars and get them off the street.
And also, Department of Sanitation hasn't come in here to clean
because they, as you can see, it's congested, double parked cars.
Others spoke to us about the litter accumulating in the area.
When they come here, so they have to clean because
our people don't enter to clean. It's one of the difficulties to clean.
There are, you know, trash cans on a lot of the corners,
but it needs to be a better job done with the trash.
From Grand Concourse, Erica Lunsford, News 12.
