During school holidays in Trapp,
this park is usually teeming with children and families.
But since a shooter opened fire here last Friday,
many residents are not ready to return.
Some have even left the neighbourhood temporarily.
All the shutters are closed. These are homeowners.
They're all scared.
Of course they're scared. It happened right below their windows.
Ahmed Malouli is a mediator.
He's walking the streets to listen
to people's fears and offer reassurance.
It's a delicate task when also feeling impacted.
I'm actually afraid.
I realize it could have been me because I walk through here every day.
It's an internal struggle.
I tell myself I have to walk through here to get through this.
It's my job.
I'm here every day.
If I start taking a detour and I'm afraid to go that way,
I might as well get a different job.
Five days after the attack southwest of Paris, emotions are still high
and people are trying to find the right words to express how they feel.
I worry that this might give other people ideas
to carry out similar acts.
Some people might have even had these ideas swirling around
in their heads for perhaps years.
But this man says he is deeply attached to his town
and has no plans to move away.
We have a church, we have a synagogue, we live together as communities.
When tragedy strikes, we don't look at religion,
we don't look at skin colour. We help.
Others don't want to see a negative image associated with Trap.
even among those who no longer live here, like this former resident.
In his view, recent public comments have stoked hatred.
Did you stop here on purpose today?
Yes, to calm my anger, so to say.
It will take time for Trapp to heal.
But many in the community are trying to trust
that the legal system will bring a sense of justice.
