James Kaufman, World News Report Today.
Ladies and gentlemen,
my neighborhood just got hit by what I think was two tornadoes
and we're under a tornado warning until 8.30.
It swept through and just about destroyed everything.
I haven't been able to get in touch with my wife or child
and I tried to get to their house, but every single tree is down.
Incredible situation.
I've never seen tornadoes spring up and go through the
woodlands. I'll show you exactly where we all live here
in the woodlands. It's a
bad scene to say the very least
and again they've warned against the
woodland specifically until 830 but we've already been hit.
I've seen 20 or
20 or 30 houses destroyed and I only made it a quarter mile.
We live in Alden bridge right here.
It's part of the woodlands. It's a subdivision.
I don't know why they just named our subdivision.
There's one here, one here, one here, one here.
You can see the two tornadoes on the ground.
I think they've both gone through but it looks
like we have additional tornadoes coming through.
Unbelievable. I'll show you all some of the damage
just around my area.
This is in the immediate area here. Lots of trees down.
I saw several houses also that look blown down to me.
You can see that that's heavy structural damage.
You can see a tree on it.
I'll show you all some more.
It just keeps getting worse.
Here was the warning beforehand, which I didn't catch.
I was busy paying bills.
You can see it's 2-8 Eastern time here,
and both tornadoes ended up on the ground in the woodlands.
Not quite sure what these
White bars mean, but I believe that these are all tornadoes
that have touched ground around North Houston here.
Now, the Sheriff's Department's out everywhere.
The fire teams are out everywhere.
Again, I can't get to my home or get in touch with my wife
or daughter on their cell phones.
Not a good feeling.
My car and kind of many of them made it through.
But everything outside of me is blocked with mostly trees down,
although I did see some homes
that looked like they were also torn apart.
Again, very, very localized all around my home
and the condo in a circle here.
And they say that this is just the beginning.
They're expecting an influx of tornadoes
that you all saw, the white lines.
It looks like we've already had one.
It's through 8:30 p.m.
I'd like to go ahead and get over there.
I might have to try to walk or something.
You can see how many trees are down, and this is just
a couple of pictures I've put up on Facebook.
But I couldn't get an eighth of a mile.
The police have everything blocked off.
And as you all know, this is right near me.
I only live, well, about a quarter mile from my house.
You can see, it's every single tree.
Look at these tops of the trees here.
These houses, I guess, are built well.
That's the positive part.
Now, it looks like this might have ended about eight minutes ago.
I'm not quite sure what the turquoise here means.
I've checked all the radars,
and we're right about here.
It looks like the worst of it has gone,
although that's not what the National Weather Service is warning.
They're warning the entire area here,
and we are right in the middle of that area here,
is under a tornado warning until 8:30.
Now, I should have paid attention.
I did not.
This came on so quickly.
Again, I haven't been able to get in touch with...
wife or daughter on their cell phones you would think
that they would pick up and uh let me know
that they're okay god bless guys say a prayer
and uh we'll make it through over here but you
guys up in east texas and then the lufkin
and well shreveport louisiana area and all up in
north east texas y'all get ready
because it looks like it's all headed in that direction
This is the cool front coming through,
and this was more than a cold front for The Woodlands, Texas.
