Fat Beet Farm in Tampa

Hi there, I'm Charlie Belcher coming to you from Tampa but almost to Oldsmar where Hillsborough Avenue turns into Tampa Road. Just before that happens you will find Fat Beet Farm on the south side of Hillsborough Avenue. 13 acres, this is a regenerative farm but also a place not only where you can come enjoy events and special events that you plan yourself or events they're planning here for you, you can also enjoy a great breakfast and lunch and many of the items made with things right Right out of the farm here. Tim and Jen, these are the dynamic duo behind Fat Beet Farm. Bought the property in 2013, opened to the public for the last five years. And Jen, this was your idea? Yes, sadly. Super excited to do a small retirement project, supposed to be a farm-to-table restaurant, and it turned into something so much more. So many sustainable focuses in the back of the farm, so what we thought it was going to be, it's completely changed and evolved into a regenerative, sustainable, educational farm. Tim, this is really a wonderful place where there's a lot happening here. Yeah, I mean, you can come out and do a tour and have breakfast, do a tour and have lunch. You can, you know, have a big corporate event and learn about regenerative farming and have a lot more than just showing up at a Marriott or something like that. We'll talk about that. Tell me about the farm. What all are you growing on the property? So we have a food forest that's an educational piece of our tour. Everything in it is edible, highs, lows, ground cover. And then we go into my garden. It's herbs and edibles. We grow a ton of medicinals for health. And wellness, then we go into the aquaponics where we can grow up to, I believe it's 4,000 heads of lettuce now, weekly. Before we run out of time, I want to talk about breakfast and lunch. That's being served up here that anybody can just drop in and enjoy. Tell me about the menu in there, Tim. We make biscuits in the morning, and we make it with fresh ground butter. We have fresh-made quiche with vegetables off the farm. We have a breakfast burrito. It's awesome. Great lunch, plus cakes and pastries. All of our cakes have as many farm ingredients as we can get into them. A fresh beet velvet cake that has fresh beets in it. Carrot cake with fresh ground carrots.
