Well, we've been reporting a surge in early voting,
which wrapped up in Maryland.
Virginia and D.C. are next. Stephanie's
in the newsroom with what you need to know,
no matter where you live.
Good morning, Steve. Marissa, yeah, so tomorrow,
Saturday, is the deadline for early voting in
Virginia. And in D.C., that deadline is Sunday.
And then Tuesday, we all know, is the big day,
November third
Now, in Virginia, Saturday,
some early voting polling sites are running 8.30 a.m. to 5 p.m.,
but just double-check your polling location
because some have different times.
And in D.C., early voting polling hours
are on Sunday from 8.30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
As long as you're in line by closing time, you can cast your vote.
Now, there are some rules to note if you choose
to vote by mail, absentee, or drop-off.
In Virginia, you can return your ballot
to your general registrar's office by 7 p.m. election day.
Same, that is, for using a drop-off location,
but make sure to double-check again on the hours of your locality.
Now, if you're mailing the ballot,
it must be postmarked on or by election day
and received by your general registrar's office
by noon on the third day after the election.
In D.C., ballots can be taken to an early voting center
by 7 p.m. Sunday, taken to any
dropbox location by 8 p.m. Election Day,
and if by mail, it must be postmarked on or by
Election Day and received by the 10th day after election.
Last one for you here.
In Maryland, mail-in ballots can be dropped off
to any Board of Elections site, early
voting center, or dropbox location by 8 p.m. Election Day.
If mailing, it has to be postmarked on or by.
Election Day, that is November 3rd.
And in Maryland, actually, officials are encouraging everyone
to return your ballot as soon as possible.
Just because you put it in your mailbox on Election Day,
that does not guarantee that it will be postmarked by that day.
There could be a service delay.
Marissa, Steve, all right, Steph, thank you.
