Iran's elite Revolutionary Guard Corps
seizes tanker in Strait of Hormuz. After a long time of relative quiet,
the Straits of Hormuz is flaring up again.
On Friday, Iranian forces are reported to have
seized a Marshall Island-flagged tanker.
This is the first in some time, but the Iranians are
It is somewhat routine, an instance of intercepting a ship.
For smuggling fuel, according to Iranian state media,
the Iranians are now claiming to be
acting within the laws of the Islamic Republic,
but it was clearly an international vessel
of the U.S. official and a private maritime risk group,
saying it was forcibly diverted
into Iranian territorial waters
as it made its way to the narrow strait.
International reports have identified the tanker as the
Talara, en route from Ajman, the United Arab Emirates,
to Singapore, when it was intercepted.
British maritime risk firm Vanguard has described
that the vessel was seized by Iran's Revolutionary
Guard Corps, which typically oversees such
aggressive Iranian naval operations related
to foreign vessels, and redirected it towards Iranian waters.
Reports further say that three boats
were observed approaching the Talara.
AP reports that a U.S. Navy MQ-4C Triton drone had been circling above
the area where the Talara was for hours on Friday,
observing the seizure.
According to Flight Tracker data, Lloyds of London has written, quote,
The vessel is owned
by the Greece-based Kouronos family group of companies.
Company has not responded to request for comment
and here you can see the Talara's route in green
and how it was intercepted
and then brought into from international waters into Iranian waters.
You can actually see it turn then be brought into
Iranian waters. Here's a picture of the vessel here
and well this is where the final seizure
took place. I'm sure the U.S. Navy has all this on film.
I don't know why they wouldn't intervene.
If you want to blow some boats out of the water,
those three would have been perfect. God bless,
folks. Please share, subscribe,
and always remember, anything's possible.
Bizarro world. Please share. God bless.
