Welcome to my channel Ala's Yummy Food.
Today I'm going to be making Ponchiki. Ponchiki
are really really naughty but really really tasty.
To translate it means jammy doughnuts
and I'll be making mine with strawberry
but you can fill them with any type of jam that
you love. So let's get started.
Ingredients are very simple, probably something you have
in your kitchen every single day.
So we will need 150 ml of milk, 30 g of unsalted butter,
20 g of wet yeast and 1 egg, 80 g of granulated sugar.
I've got 250 g of plain flour and a pinch of salt,
strawberry jam and some icing sugar for decoration at the end.
And you will need some plain sunflower oil,
about half a can, so I would say about 500 ml.
In a small bowl we put our yeast
and one tablespoon of sugar over it and then we
add all the milk. Now I warmed it up
in the microwave make sure it's warm not hot
I'm just gonna give it a mix just
to make sure it's all incorporated and then
we just add about two tablespoons
of flour into the mixture just give it a
stir make sure it's all incorporated
and leave it aside for about 15 to 20
minutes to rise
Okay, now we have to mix all the ingredients together.
It's a very similar method to how I was making pirozhki,
if you've seen my video on that.
So the dough is pretty much the same,
except obviously this one is for donuts, so slightly different methods.
But if you want to watch that video, please click the link below.
These are also amazing.
Okay, so we get a bigger bowl, and we put our egg yolk.
We've separated that from the egg whites.
We're only going to be using egg yolk for this recipe.
Whisk that a little bit,
and I'm going to add
my sugar together.
Now we're going to add our melted butter,
our yeast, as you can see it's risen quite a bit.
And then we're
gradually going
to add our flour.
Now we need to incorporate all the ingredients
by hand because the dough becomes very sticky.
And just mix it. Once the mixture is all nice and smooth,
if it's too sticky you can add a little bit more flour,
otherwise just form a ball in the same bowl, cover it with a damp towel
and leave it aside for another hour until it rises.
Okay, my dough has risen. It's been actually an hour and a half.
It's not that hot anymore in my house, so here we can see once
you lift up the towel how much it has risen, so quite a lot.
Now we sprinkle some flour on the surface,
and we're just going to get the dough out.
It will shrink again, but that's fine. Don't worry. Put it out.
It will be very sticky, and that's okay.
Now we take our rolling pin,
and we're just going to roll it out
to one centimeter, just around.
You can have your doughnuts any shape or size you want.
I'm just going to make the normal ones.
Okay, once that's done, I've got a cutter.
If you don't have one, you can use a cup. That's fine.
And we just do that and make it.
Like I said, you can use any size of the cup if you like.
Then we'll reroll the dough and make more with the rest of the dough.
Okay, so I've made 14 doughnuts from my dough.
Again, if you've got smaller or larger,
depends on how many you can make.
Now we need to cover it with towel again
and leave it for another half hour in a warm place.
Okay, I really can't wait. My doughnut mixture has risen up,
and you can see here, they've pretty much doubled in size.
Now I've prepared a large pan with some oil,
and I'm just heating it up now, so they're ready to go.
Okay, my oil is nice and hot. You can test by throwing a piece of dough
and seeing if it starts to bubble.
So now I'm just going to place my doughnuts like that,
and I'm going to have to monitor them.
We're only going to turn them around once.
So we don't want to put too many in. I usually just put about five.
Okay, now once you see they start to golden brown,
I'm just going to turn them
around. And you can just turn down
a little bit
of the heat and place them on the cloth just
to make sure the excess fat drains
out. Just repeat the process with the rest
of them. Doughnuts
are cooked and now we're just gonna let them rest
for about five to ten minutes.
Okay, so now I'm ready to pipe my doughnuts.
I've got strawberry jam here in a piping bag with my nozzle.
If you don't have a syringe,
then just use my method because I don't have one.
So what we're going to do, we're going to put it in quite deep
and push that inside the doughnut all the way.
And I'm just going to press,
fill the whole doughnut and let it seep like that, okay?
So we just
do the rest.
Okay, now that our doughnuts are filled with yummy jam, I'm going
to sprinkle a bit of icing sugar on top, like that, all around them.
I have to make them nice and beautiful and sweet.
And
they're
done.
Smells yummy.
I can smell the donuts around the whole flat.
It's just so nice.
Now these are really naughty treats again,
but you can spoil yourself sometimes.
They're still really warm,
so it's probably the best time to eat them.
So I'm gonna try one,
show you how
they look.
See that strawberry jam filled donut?
They're so good.
These are dangerous.
I probably could eat the whole plate.
So these are perfect to make for any occasion.
For your weekend, for you and your lover,
for your kids, for your parties.
