Halloween magic tricks with Houdini

Tonight is the last night that you can come check out Houdini Speaks to the Living. Patrick, you're playing Houdini. Y'all need to come see the play, but you're going to show me some magic tricks. I'd love to. Yeah, I have a book here because, yes, I play Houdini. And the other character is Arthur Conan Doyle, who's very famous for the Sherlock Holmes mysteries. Libby, would you look at the book and you can flip through it? Make sure, again, it's just like you would have on your own library. Yeah. Okay. Perfect. One more time. Okay. Yeah. All the pages are different. All the words are different. I'm going to let them flutter through. And as they're going by, you simply say the word now, and that'll be your page. Now. There. And can you see the very first word on that page? Poor. Okay. Great. Great. I'm going to have you just think of it. Okay. We'll do it again. No problem. We can do a little mind reading here. Okay. So one more, one more chance here. Stop. Is that okay? Yep. And can you see the first word on that page? It's a different word, yeah? Oh, yeah. I wasn't supposed to tell you. Don't say it. Got it. This one's better. You can see how we've rehearsed this. But yeah, just make sure you can memorize it. Okay. Because I really want you to focus on that word, yeah? And obviously we've not practiced this. This is going to happen. No, we have not. This is organic. Here we go. Organic. Okay. So what I want you to do is just focus on the first letter in this word. Okay. Eyes open. Hmm. Okay. I think I've got a good sense of this. What is the letter you're thinking of? H. H. Okay. I want you to think of the whole word. Don't say it. Just sort of transmit your thoughts to me. Perfect. Okay. This is good. This is a good one. Hmm. Okay. I like this. I like this. So Libby, for the very first time, why don't you say the word you're thinking of? Happy. How did you do that? Happy Halloween. That's wild. Thank you very much. Okay, you have to do something else. Yeah, I'd love to. Me too. Well, we could do so many things. I actually do have a pack of cards here. Okay. Well, here's the thing, Libby. Do you happen to have maybe a favorite card of your own? Inside the box, there is a magic special prediction. It's the Libby card. Now, you don't know what it is yet. No one knows what it is yet, only me. But it's facing down in the box. I'll show you in just a second. But Libby, there are four suits, diamonds, spades, clubs, and hearts, yeah? In this moment, what would you say is your favorite suit? Okay. Diamonds. Diamonds. Wonderful choice. So of the diamonds, would you like picture cards or number cards? In this case, numbers. Numbers. Okay. Interesting. Don't quite know how this is going to go yet. Okay. But we're going to see what that Libby card is. So of the numbers, we have 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. Those are your options. Of those, what would you say is your favorite in this moment? Seven. Seven of diamonds. Interesting choice. We're going to open up the box right now, and if the facing down card, not just yet, but if that facing down card, the Libby card, happens to be the seven of diamonds, what do you call that? Is that a coincidence? Is that luck? I don't know. Maybe it's magic. All right. Let's check it out. We'll open them right now for the first time. Again, here we go. We'll go through one by one.
