The plan currently under discussion is the one
Iran originally presented at the beginning,
known as the Iran Seven-Day Plan,
in which we specified our condition for reopening the
Strait of Hormuz. Our Qatari friends asked
to cut this time window from seven days to
five days or less, and we worked on this idea during
the Qatari delegation visit yesterday.
We've now reached a plan that cuts the implementation time to two days.
On day one, the U.S. implements a set of measures.
On day two, the Hormuz Strait will reopen
and navigation will be restored to what it used to be.
He hasn't
made
a decision.
I have no
announcement
in that
regard with
you today,
and nor do we take any of it lightly.
The president prefers not to do it that way.
If he did, he would have done it weeks ago, months ago.
He'd prefer to solve it diplomatically.
