Day of voting for those that didn't early vote and you'll need some day
of good working windshield wipers, some day of patience for the delays,
and of course some day of rain gear.
Umbrellas, ponchos, because we do have that strong cold front that will
be sweeping through and it's likely going to impact you if you have
to head out to work or if you're going to vote or either or both.
Well, we do have that front that likely will reach Houston
with strong storms, downpours on our election day.
Low flood threat, lightning,
strong winds are going to be the main risk.
But there's even a very low tornado risk
for a few of our eastern counties.
So I'll show you where that is in just a minute.
Right now, that front is already starting
to slice through the Texas panhandle.
Close to 80 here, 60s in Amarillo,
51 in Denver, 45 in Billings up in Montana.
So much cooler air will start to spill
into the state over the next few days.
And we will...
get to enjoy some of that cooler air,
that fall chill going to make a comeback. But first,
we've got to get through around the storms.
Right now, the storm threat up towards Wichita,
Oklahoma City. Those severe storms are creeping in a little bit closer.
We've got a tornado watch
here and multiple severe thunderstorm warnings,
damaging wind, hail, maybe even a few tornadoes.
So that is where the rough weather is going to be this evening.
Election day rain for us,
chances going up to 80 percent.
So it's a very high chance, especially during the late morning
We'll be back in just
a little bit more detail in just
a little bit more detail.
It's mainly going to be this line of strong
and severe storms rolling through places like Sherman,
Dallas, Fort Worth, Cleburne, Waco, getting in on some
of those storms late tonight and even Austin early tomorrow morning.
The good thing is that the storms roll in early for Austin,
but they roll out early. Now for Houston, I think by 10 a.m. tomorrow,
we're starting to see those downpours picking up northwest of Houston,
places like Navasota, Brenham, maybe the Woodlands.
But by lunchtime in the early afternoon, 2, 3 p.m.,
even 4 p.m., we're going to see those downpours.
You'll see those downpours and storms could be right over H-Town
and that could be the time
you're trying to vote. So plan on some wet roads,
could have frequent lightning, we could have some
hail, we could have some flooded streets.
So please be careful and keep checking back with
us and make sure you have a way to get those alerts.
All right, rolling ahead to 5 p.m.
tomorrow. I think things start to slowly improve for Houston,
but it's our coastal spots like
League City, Galveston, where you could still
be getting some downpours into the evening hours. Maybe
I think by 11 p.m. midnight tomorrow,
the front is racing out of here, taking the rain with it.
High pressure builds in for Wednesday, and it is going
to be an absolutely gorgeous day out there for Wednesday
with that cooler, drier air and plenty of sunshine.
But here's the low tornado risk tomorrow afternoon,
especially from Livingston down to Liberty.
It's a 2% chance, but that means it's not zero,
so we'll be watching for any stronger rotation.
And there's also a very low 5% chance up towards Livingston.
And over towards Liberty for maybe a 50, 60 mile per hour wind gust.
Flood threat is mainly east of Houston tomorrow
from Shepherd to Livingston to Liberty.
Isolated street flooding,
but we really can't rule that out in Houston as well.
So we just need to be vigilant.
Make sure that you are watching out for any flooded streets.
Watch out for any.
Downpours that could lead to that flooding.
You'll see that we do have that better shot for heavy rain
and storms around lunchtime through the afternoon.
Temperatures near 80 tomorrow, but here is that cooler,
drier air spilling in for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
Highs in the 70s, lows in the 50s.
Absolutely delightful weather,
but it will be a stormy election day at times.
