Home at 11:03, another big race on the ballot here in Georgia.
Incumbent Senator John Ossoff trying to keep
his seat against Republican challenger Congressman Mike Collins.
So our Caitlin Pratt is joining us today.
She is at Unity Atlanta Church.
It's one of three relocated precincts across Gwinnett County.
So, Caitlin, what have you seen out there this morning?
I know you've been there since before voting began today.
Hi, Elise. Yeah, a steady stream of folks coming out here
to cast their ballots here in Peachtree Corners.
And we've had a DJ bumping all morning long, a party at the polls.
And the polls are going up.
The poll workers are really positive.
They say they're getting people in and out within 10 minutes' time,
so really some good
movement here in Gwinnett County.
Let's talk about what we've been seeing,
especially over the last 48 hours, as far as this U.S.
Senate race is concerned.
Senator John Ossoff and his competitor,
Mike Collins, they're really making their final
appeals to voters who were planning on voting today.
Maybe they're undecided.
Maybe they're just wondering.
Wanting to keep up the tradition on election day itself,
going to the polls.
Now the candidates have certainly clashed over this campaign,
over tariffs, over healthcare,
also immigration.
Collins, for his part,
calling for stricter immigration enforcement, Ossoff saying that
secure borders must go hand in hand
with respect for civil rights as well.
So Ossoff has made his criticism of President Donald Trump
a central part of his reelection campaign.
Collins, who secured the president's endorsement earlier this year,
insists that Ossoff is the extremist in the contest.
I want to tell you, though, there's been some changes here,
specifically in Gwinnett County, bringing it back here, hyperlocal.
They had to relocate some of the polling places due
to recent emergencies within the last week.
Someone taking over ownership of a
A polling place from the past,
so mixing it up a little bit this morning,
we caught up with at least one man who was confused over the change,
but still made time to get out the vote today. Take a listen.
I went to Hopewell Baptist Church,
no signage of any sort saying to go to this place.
I had to go to the Gwinnett County whatever,
and then I had to, you know.
And then I found out it was an emergency change,
and I finally found this place.
It was a whole hour of my time.
I have three small children, and they mean the world to me,
and coming out here and voting
for their rights, for my wife's rights,
for my rights, I think is extremely important.
I want to see the world turn into a more beautiful place,
and so that's why I'm out here this
morning.
Yes, and it's been a busy morning, a steady stream of folks coming in,
even though there's already been some record-breaking crowds coming out
to vote in that early voting period.
It's good to see people doing their civic duty.
And also today, a lot of kiddos have the day off from school.
I've seen a lot of children as well going with their parents,
all of them getting little stickers for the kids,
too, in addition to the actual voting parents.
So that's just really fun to see.
Polls will be open until 7 o'clock here tonight, Elise.
to drizzle but shouldn't shouldn't impact.
I don't think so. The voting numbers here in
Gwinnett County. That is where we are live.
I'm Caitlin Pratt going to send it back to you.
All right. I just want to make sure we heard you right
when you said something about a DJ
out there.
That's it.
Really?
No.
Oh my gosh.
Thank you for saying that.
Yes.
And he just turned the music off.
Come over here.
Come over here.
Come over here.
He, oh, he is a delight.
Delight.
Tell me your name.
You've been just so delightful all morning.
I'll hold this.
You go ahead.
QMix.
Leonard Trent.
Night Power Hits.
And why was it important for you to be here
and just give people some motivation?
Just make it, you know, fun.
We gotta, you know what I'm saying,
keep it exciting, you know what I'm saying.
I'm here to entertain everybody, you know what I'm saying.
We want everybody to come and do their part, pull up and vote.
You know what I'm saying?
Today is a really important day.
So, yeah, I'm here to do my part.
And you did a great job.
Thank you.
Thank you for that.
Thank you.
And now I'm going to send it back to you.
Yes.
Party at the polls.
Party at the polls.
You don't hear that happening all the time.
So pretty cool that that was happening outside
of your location there in Peachtree Corners.
KP, thank you so much.
We appreciate you.
You bet.
