Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said
that over 2.8 million Georgians voted early and today
we are here in Cobb County.
We're seeing people trickle in to this polling location in Marietta.
Steady flow all day long despite a little bit
of early morning mist and drizzle.
No slowing down. All that said, no line inside or out.
People have been through
the door and back out within about 10 minutes
from my count on my phone. But you know, we've
spoken with a lot of voters here today
and they say they've come out for all manner of reasons.
Many are motivated by the economy.
Others are just here because of how important it is to them
to do their civic duty.
I spoke with one man who became a citizen in 2023.
This is his first time
I'm casting a ballot and I spoke with some voters
and asked them how they felt.
About the lead up to this election, about all of the campaigns,
the calls, the texts, the ads on TV and on social media.
Here's what they had to say.
Well, I think it's important for everybody.
My oldest daughter just recently turned 18,
so I'm trying to obviously set a good example
of how important it is to be heard and make your voice known.
For topics that are very important to everybody involved in this area
or in this country.
Here I distribute all my, who I'm going to vote,
you know, so it feels good now.
Please come out, call someone,
call a friend to come and bring you, or if you live close by,
and I do live close by, but my daughter still brought me,
someone will bring you to vote.
So please, go out and vote.
That's some sound from earlier this morning, actually.
Equally important, reminding people to come out
and vote and giving their reasons as to why.
But I do just want to note, we spoke with Tracy,
who you heard from first in that interview.
She, you know, said that she was just frustrated
and fed up by all of the calls, the texts that she had gotten.
And she was ready to have a little break from that after voting today.
Another man I spoke with, Bob Mello,
he votes every single election cycle.
He was equally fed up, and he told me, you know,
think of where that money could have gone.
He said it could have gone to health care,
it could have gone to schools, all these different things
that he would much rather see money being funneled
into aside from these political campaigns.
So we'll see how it all shakes up here at the end of the day.
People are coming through to vote.
Again, this polling location open until 7 o'clock tonight.
If you're in line by 7 you'll be able.
You will be able to cast your vote.
