One of the races that will determine
which party takes the Senate is taking place in Texas.
Republican Ken Paxton
and Democrat James Tallarico are locked in a neck-and-neck race.
Yeah, and the Democrats there, they're looking to turn
the Lone Star State blue for the first time in more than a generation.
Our Amy Gallo is live for us in Austin tonight.
So, Amy, you've been following both campaigns all across the state now.
I know for weeks, because we've had you in our shows.
What are you hearing from the voters today?
Hey Tim, from Corpus Christi to Brownsville to Houston
and every stop in between it's really
all been about affordability
and immigration with voters on both sides of the aisle also
telling me that at the heart of this race
is what they believe makes Texas, Texas.
People are leaving Democrat states to come to Texas, so why would
you come here and vote for the very thing that you defected?
Obviously, there's a strong red hold. We're hoping for change.
I'm hoping that with all the youth that's out there, all these people
so hyped up seeing what we saw today, I hope it's enough.
Republican Ken Paxton and Democrat James Tallarico wrapped up
their campaign bus tours yesterday,
urging supporters to get their friends
and families to the polls with the future of Texas on the line.
Understand what is actually at stake here.
Texas has never been this close to slipping away.
This race is about defending our state and our country,
but it's also about safeguarding our
way of life. We're going to do something historic.
We are going to shock the nation,
shock the world when we beat the billionaires and take back Texas.
And this Texas Senate race is now
the most expensive non-presidential race on record.
According to Ad Impact Politics,
Democrats have spent more than $158 million on ads,
while Republicans have spent more than $386 million.
Elon Musk has pumped significant
money into supporting Paxton,
but voters from both parties tell me they're concerned about
the cash flowing into this race and where it's coming from.
I think that just adds to the corruption.
I think that's like, hopefully people will
not want to vote for something
that just because a billionaire can fund it, you know.
The dark money is coming in support of Telerico.
When I see a football game or something,
I see maybe four or five to one ads for Telerico,
so I'm worried about this.
Turnout for early voting here in Texas has
also been historic with over 7.7 million Texans
casting their ballots before election day.
Back to you, Tim and Simone.
My goodness, that's one of the races we're
going to be watching all night long.
Thanks so much, Amy.
All right, let's talk.
