All right, let's now take a look
at some statewide results this morning.
A contested primary to fill the seat
of longtime Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar,
who left the office last year to be Chancellor of Texas A&M.
Acting Comptroller Don Huffines, he lost.
It was a pretty tight race to Sarah Eckhardt,
who is in the lead with 51%.
Land Commissioner Don Buckingham
is seeking a re-election, she fell short.
Benjamin Flores, the winner in this race, 52 to 47%.
Let's go get over to Texas Agricultural Commissioner Sid Miller.
He lost his re-election bid during
the primaries to Republican Nate Sheets.
Clayton Tucker wins to be the next Agricultural
Commissioner with 51% of the vote.
He's the Democrat.
Now here in Austin, a few elections were not decided overnight.
They will be heading on to runoffs.
Yes, some have so many candidates.
That's why there will be a runoff come December.
Six candidates seeking to replace Natasha Harper-Madison
on Austin City Council.
As you see, no one really came close
to that 50% plus one threshold there.
So that will be headed to a runoff election.
That's what you're looking for all these races, a 50% plus one.
So Jose Velasquez seeking re-election.
He has 48%, so this will head to a runoff.
A reality TV star grabbing some of the headlines
in incumbent Ryan Alter's race for Austin Council District 5.
Alter, one of the candidates there,
and the one with the most votes, as you see.
But once again, there will be a runoff for this seat.
A few candidates vying to replace Austin City Council
member Paige Ellis, who reached her term limit.
Selena, she has 65% of the vote for District 8.
The Quadri seeking re-election in District 9.
He did cross that threshold, 52% of the vote.
He is the winner in that race.
All right, let's look at some results
from other communities around Central Texas.
A teenager challenging a Round Rock ISD board of trustee members.
Amber Feller-Landrum running for re-election in place three.
18-year-old, we talked to him a week or so ago here at Fox 7.
Ian Oladina was a Round Rock ISD student.
He's been involved in politics in the Capitol in recent years.
And as you see the results there, as with Austin,
there must be that 50% plus one threshold.
So, well, the D-net and Phil Landrum will be headed to a runoff.
But he's in a huge lead, 18 years old.
Yeah.
Moving over to the mayoral race in Kyle.
Yvonne Flores-Kale is running to keep her seat as mayor.
She has 50% of the vote.
This one will head to a runoff in December.
San Marcos Mayor Jane Houston did not run
for re-election in the race to replace her.
Big win for Amanda Rodriguez, bringing in 73% of the vote in that race.
Mayor Lou White decided to not run
for re-election in Lockhart, so he's led the
city since 2012 to replace him.
Angie Gonzalez Sanchez, she has 57% of the vote.
