arrived in Madrid, Spain this morning
for the NFL's next international matchup.
They'll take on the Cincinnati Bengals
and after a brutal loss on Sunday, the team is looking
to rebound. So Fox 5 Sports, Justin Felder is with the team.
He's joining us now from Madrid
with more. Good morning. I guess we should say good afternoon
to you there. How's it going, Justin?
Yeah, buenos dias. I'm not exactly sure.
We'll keep to good morning right now. Good morning. It
is Elise live from Retiro Park in Madrid, Spain.
And let me ask you and ask you at home, after you
go on a transatlantic super long flight, what's the first thing you do?
You probably check the
seat back pocket, make sure you didn't leave
your cell phone cord. You get your luggage,
maybe you sneak in a little nap.
If you're the Atlanta Falcons, no, you go right.
Let's take a look at some video because the Atlanta Falcons,
they landed early this morning in Madrid, Spain and went directly
from the airport onto the field for a very light workout.
But still, it's not something I'm doing.
The team was training at Real Madrid's training ground,
the ultra world famous soccer team.
That's where they're going to be training this week,
getting ready to face the Bengals on Sunday.
We had a chance to catch up with players afterward
and asked what this experience was like,
especially going from being on a plane cross the field.
Crossing an ocean, going to a new continent,
and immediately getting to work at practice.
Kind of crazy. You know,
trying to just get used to it as fast as possible.
Trying to keep us awake until we really have to go to bed.
Because, you know, the time change and everything is super difficult.
But, you know, they're doing a great job adjusting us.
But yeah, right onto the field, right off the plane.
Do they give you advice? Are they like,
do not go to sleep today? We're going to be in meetings?
Yeah, I mean, they try to cater to the schedule to keep us up
and make sure that.
We get the proper sleep when we're supposed to,
but yeah, they're doing a great job.
They've been preparing for this all year pretty much,
so I feel very comfortable in what they have in plan for us.
No worries about anybody dozing off in meetings?
Oh yeah, there's definitely going to be a couple,
but we'll try to keep everyone awake.
Back here live in Retiro Park, I feel that we're trying
to keep us on the Fox 5 sports team awake right now.
The Falcons have practice lined up for Thursday and Friday as well.
It's a different strategy than they took
when they played in Berlin last year
when they left Thursday night, had one day of practice Friday,
and then played Sunday.
So the Falcons hoping that a few extra days in Europe
will help them be more prepared come Sunday against the Bengals.
Reporting live in Madrid, Spain,
I'm Justin Felder for Good Day Atlanta.
Yeah, well, we certainly hope so as fans,
but I have to say the nerve of the sun
to be shining on your back there in Madrid
It's gloomy here, you're in Spain, you've got the sunshine,
Justin, it's good to be you.
It's beautiful weather here.
I'll tell you what, it was chilly this morning.
It was 32 degrees or so when we landed.
I don't know what that is in Celsius.
They told us.
I already forgot it.
It's supposed to be real nice all week.
It is supposed to rain Sunday during the game.
That might bring back some bad memories.
Last week for Falcons fans, don't worry.
The stadium here has a roof.
There we go.
Oh okay, good to hear.
Looking forward to hearing from our sports team,
getting to see you guys there in Spain.
So we will see you soon, Justin.
Thank you.
It's 7.50.
