The temperatures are starting to drop
and we have Laura and Chet Merrick from Altitude
roofing here to get us ready for the cold weather.
Winter is on the horizon and homeowners have a lot
to think about when it comes to their roof.
What should we be what should we be ready for?
So fall is the perfect time of year
to really start prepping your roof for winter
and there's so many simple things homeowners can do.
Just get outside, look up,
Check out your shingles, see if there's any loose or missing,
cracked shingles, and also
check out your chimney because the chimney has its flashing.
Yep, so if you get outside,
take a look up at your chimney, it's a really easy way to
see if you have bad flashing, or if it's windblown,
or if the shingles around it are lifting up,
it's a really easy way to see if you have flashing problems.
And if you're looking up and you don't know what you're looking at,
it's a great opportunity to
call a professional. Absolutely.
Because another thing that is a big fear for a lot of homeowners
are ice dams and things that maybe we could be doing now to avoid them.
Absolutely. Ice dams
are huge because we live in New England and it snows every year.
So ice dams really have to do
with your ventilation and your insulation.
So it's really important that we have proper
Insulation and ventilation up in your attic.
Yeah, absolutely.
And you also really should call a professional.
Give us a call.
We'll come out and make sure that the ice and water shield is installed
as it should be, whether it's three feet or six feet.
If you have a big eave on your house and also the gutters,
the gutters need to be clean.
They need to be free of debris and need to be able to flow.
Otherwise, the ice is going to back up
from the gutters right up onto your roof.
Yeah.
And I love that on your social you have these great myth busters.
There's one is...
Don't wait until spring.
This is stuff that you can be doing now,
but really helpful tips for homeowners.
Absolutely.
So we really like to educate the community.
We like to show our neighbors that, hey, you know, getting out there
now, checking your gutters, looking up at your shingles really helps.
And we do Myth Buster Monday.
We have Roofing Confession Thursday.
We go around the office and really kind of spill the tea.
And check us out on socials,
it's more than just choosing us as a roofing company, we're
here to educate and help the community.
And how can we find more?
If you visit us on our website, we're at AltitudeRoofingMA.com
or give us a call at 508-963-7794.
We also are on Facebook, Instagram,
TikTok at Altitude Roofing or Altitude Roofing MA.
