Nearly 40 years after Sheila Levesque was fatally stabbed inside her Malden home, her family is still searching for answers and wondering whether they will ever see justice.
A daughter fighting for answers almost
40 years after her mother was killed
in the Malden apartment where they lived.
No one's been arrested in the death of Sheila Levesque.
Boston 25's Bob Ward spoke with Sheila's daughter,
who believes mistakes were made early in this investigation.
This case goes back to 1988.
Sheila Levesque was fatally stabbed in her bedroom
while her children slept nearby.
Sheila's daughter is concerned there might never
be any justice for her mother.
I was there. I've seen. There was evidence.
Why is this case gone 38 years unsolved?
Ronel Levesque has had enough.
38 years ago, Ronel's mother, Sheila Levesque,
was fatally stabbed in the bedroom of her Malden home
while five of her children slept nearby.
It's still to this day I sit here with,
how did we not hear?
How did, you know, how did we sleep through that?
Questions that still haunt Lornell and her family.
Since the night of March 12th, 1988,
the Levesque family has been pushing for answers.
Lornell is concerned that mistakes made early
in the case still dog the investigation.
She tells me she recently read letters that her grandmother wrote
to investigators in the 1990s that were never answered.
She said the crime scene was not properly secured.
In fact, she says her family cleaned up the crime scene.
We're talking about 12 hours of people being in a home.
What evidence really stands?
And Ronel says there is evidence missing,
including her mother's answering machine.
Where is this answering machine that literally holds
the only thing left of our mother,
which is her voice? How do you lose something so valuable?
How do we know there isn't evidence on that tape?
Despite it all, Ronel Levesque is not giving up.
Found her, so I felt like I needed
to be her voice for these last 38 years.
Ronnell tells me she recently met with the DA's office
and expressed her concerns.
She tells me there are new investigators on the case,
and she's hopeful they'll make a difference.
