My first-grade students talk about kindness and compassion after completing a project on helping others. I'm so proud of them!
This project has lasted through the seasons. In winter, the children gave gift packages to homeless people. At the end of winter, they sowed their seeds. In spring, they prepared the garden, planted, made compost, painted rainwater barrels, watered the plants and harvested the fruits of their labor to donate to the food pantry. Many thanks to Pastor Andrew, who lent us his garden and offered us his advice.
The Lycée Français de la Nouvelle Orléans, based in Nola, is the only American public school to offer total immersion in French.
Well, some people say you have an A problem.
You have to think in someone else's mind.
You should use your imagination and put your put your feet in somebody else's shoes.
But not like really.
That means just pretend that you're them and in the same situation.
So I really liked it here.
And we learned so much this year and it was really fun.
Well, action speaks louder than words.
So you could act kinder to be quiet so we can help.
Other people and make the world a better place.
Okay. It was a great experience to be able.
To do compost and to plant lettuce and tomatoes.
And we learned about compassion.
Compassion is where you where you think, where you think about someone else, and
you use your imagination to do something nice to another person.
I am happy because I can help other people and I love helping other people.
If somebody's feeling sad, you can imagine it.
Us feeling, us being them.
Then you will feel the same way they feel.
You can give them a hug or a high five.
I liked it because I learned.
About kindness and to plant tomatoes and plant stuff.
Do you think plants can bring kindness?
Yeah. Oh, because the people who are kind to the plants, it makes whoever.
Eats them, it makes the people who eat them be happy.
It was fun.
Really messy.
We had a great time learning how to plant and water and do everything to the plants.
Um, and we had a great time.
We did it for people that don't have enough money to go to the stores and buy food.
So we're going to give it to the food pantry.
And then people that don't have enough money to buy food, they can come to the food pantry
and they can take it.
And it doesn't go bad for a long time.
So they can have food for as long as they need.
I love to help people because I like everybody to be happy.
So so nobody ever gets to no.
So nobody, nobody's perfect.
But I want everybody to be the best they can.
